Short answer: Cyberpunk 2077 cannot run NVIDIA’s native DLSS on a Radeon card. You can, however, use a community wrapper such as the Cyberpunk-specific DLSS Enabler/OptiScaler package, an experimental DLSS-NR-on-AMD installer, or the newer HelixSR script to make the game’s DLSS-labelled option feed another upscaler. These are compatibility layers, not official AMD or CD PROJEKT RED features. The safest supported choice remains the game’s built-in FSR 3.
What “DLSS on AMD” actually means
DLSS is NVIDIA’s neural-super-sampling technology. On supported GeForce cards, its models are designed to use NVIDIA Tensor cores. A Radeon GPU has no Tensor cores, so selecting native DLSS in Cyberpunk 2077 does not become possible merely by editing a setting or copying a DLL. The game’s officially supported AMD path is AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), including FSR 3 upscaling and frame generation.

Community tools change that behavior in one of two ways. A wrapper intercepts the game’s request for DLSS and redirects it to FSR or XeSS. The game may still display “DLSS,” but the image is being produced by a replacement algorithm running on AMD hardware. Newer experimental projects attempt to run a DLSS neural-rendering path through ordinary shader cores instead of Tensor hardware. Both approaches can work, but neither is vendor-supported, and image quality, compatibility and frame rate depend on the exact game build, GPU and mod version.

Choose the right route before changing files
| Route | What it does | GPU and software scope | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Built-in FSR 3 | Official upscaling and optional frame generation in the Cyberpunk graphics menu. | FSR 3 upscaling is listed for Radeon RX 590 and newer; frame generation is listed for RX 5000-series and newer. AMD’s machine-learning FSR Upscaling is listed for RX 7000 and RX 9000 series. | Not DLSS, but the lowest-risk and most reversible option. |
| DLSS Enabler 2077 Edition with OptiScaler | Replaces the game’s DLSS selection with FSR 2.1.2, FSR 2.2.1 or XeSS 1.3 and can expose frame-generation options. | Designed specifically for Cyberpunk 2077; supports AMD and Intel through the OptiScaler layer. Exact compatibility changes with releases. | DLL conflicts and updates require careful installation and rollback. |
| DLSS-NR-on-AMD installer | Attempts to run DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on an FSR-enabled game. | Windows 11, DirectX 12, Adrenalin 26.1.1 or later and a Radeon RX 9000 card are the stated requirements. RX 7000 cards are reported as expected to work; older cards are not currently supported. | Experimental, requires your own legally obtained DLSS neural-rendering DLL and has incomplete output effects. |
| HelixSR script | Makes a patched game present itself as FSR 3.1 while substituting DLSS 3.7 Model E for upscaling. | Community tool reported for patched games, including Cyberpunk 2077. | Fast-moving project; performance and compatibility must be checked against the current release. |
Recommended baseline: enable the official FSR 3 first
Before installing any wrapper, establish a clean, working configuration with the game’s native renderer. CD PROJEKT RED introduced FSR 3 in Patch 2.13. Open Settings → Graphics, enable an FSR 3 upscaling mode, then use the separate Frame Generation switch if your card supports it. Frame Generation is only available when FSR 3 upscaling is enabled.

For frame generation, CD PROJEKT RED advises entering the feature with at least 60 frames per second before generated frames are added. A 120 Hz-or-faster display, Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling and current graphics drivers are also recommended. Frame generation cannot repair a fundamentally CPU-limited or very low-base-frame-rate game; it can make latency and visual errors more noticeable when the underlying frame rate is poor.
- Start Cyberpunk 2077 without mods and load a repeatable save.
- Record your resolution, FSR mode, frame rate and whether ray tracing is enabled.
- In Settings → Graphics, select FSR 3 upscaling and, if appropriate, enable FSR 3 Frame Generation.
- Play for several minutes in a demanding area and note stutter, ghosting and input response. This gives you a rollback reference if a wrapper performs worse.
Route A: install DLSS Enabler 2077 Edition and use OptiScaler
The Cyberpunk-specific “FSR3 Frame Gen for Cyberpunk 2077 (DLSS Enabler 2077 Edition)” integrates OptiScaler. Its intended use is to select DLSS in the game, then replace that selection from OptiScaler with FSR or XeSS. In other words, the label in the menu is a hook; it is not evidence that native NVIDIA DLSS is running.
Prepare a clean rollback
- Close the game and your launcher.
- Back up the entire game directory, or at minimum
Cyberpunk 2077/bin/x64/, your configuration files and save games. - Write down every graphics, frame-generation and upscaling mod currently installed.
- Keep the original files available so you can restore them instead of deleting unknown DLLs.
Remove known conflicts
The package documentation warns against stacking it with Nukem’s dlssg-to-fsr3, LukeFZ’s FSR2FSR3 or Uniscaler, and older DLSS Enabler versions. Remove those packages first, following their own uninstall instructions. Two wrappers trying to replace the same NVIDIA or FSR library can prevent the game from starting or leave you with a black image.

Install the current Cyberpunk package
- Download the current Cyberpunk-specific release from its upstream project page. Do not reuse an old archive simply because it worked with an earlier game patch.
- Extract the files exactly as the package instructions specify. The executable-side destination is
Cyberpunk 2077/bin/x64/. - Do not rename DLLs unless the release notes explicitly require it. Wrapper loaders often depend on exact filenames.
- Start the game and confirm that it reaches the main menu before changing additional options.
Replace the DLSS selection with FSR or XeSS
- Enter the game’s graphics settings and select DLSS as the upscaler. This selection activates the wrapper hook; it does not turn a Radeon card into a GeForce card.
- Load into the game world. Press Home while actively in-game, not while the pause menu is open, to open the OptiScaler configuration window.
- Choose FSR 2.1.2, FSR 2.2.1 or XeSS 1.3 in OptiScaler, depending on the choices shown by your installed release.
- Save the configuration, then press Home again to close the overlay.
- Test image stability while moving the camera, driving and standing near neon signs or foliage. Compare the result with your clean FSR 3 baseline rather than assuming the DLSS-labelled mode is better.
OptiScaler settings can also be edited in Cyberpunk 2077/bin/x64/nvngx.ini. Editing the file while the game is running can be overwritten, so close the game before making manual changes and keep a copy of the working INI.
Enable frame generation through the wrapper
The package documentation describes enabling FSR 3 frame generation and/or an upscaler after installation. The exact menu wording depends on the release. If the frame-generation switch is missing, first verify that the game is using the wrapper’s expected DLL set, that FSR 3 upscaling is selected where required, and that no older frame-generation mod remains in bin/x64. Use the official 60-FPS-before-generation guidance as your minimum starting point.

Collect logs when it fails
- Open the game launcher’s launch-argument field.
- Add
--dlss-debug=extra --dlss-logging=on. - Launch the game, reproduce the problem once, then exit.
- Inspect
dlss-enabler.loginCyberpunk 2077/bin/x64.
Remove the debug arguments after troubleshooting. Keep the log with the exact mod version and game build if you need help from the project’s maintainers.
Route B: DLSS-NR-on-AMD (experimental)
A separate installer targets DLSS 5 Neural Rendering on AMD. This is a work-in-progress experiment, not an officially supported Cyberpunk feature. The project’s README names Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA V Enhanced as tested titles, but says output effects are not yet 100% functional.

- Windows 11.
- DirectX 12.
- A game that already supports FSR.
- AMD Adrenalin driver 26.1.1 or later.
- A Radeon RX 9000 card. RX 7000 cards are reported as expected to work; older GPUs are not currently supported.
- Your own legitimately obtained
nvngx_dlssnr.dll.
The README reports approximately 33 FPS at 1080p on an RX 9070 XT. That is a project performance report, not an independent benchmark or a promise for other cards, presets or patches. The same README says the project is not affiliated with or endorsed by NVIDIA or AMD.
Installation procedure
- Make a full backup of
Cyberpunk 2077/bin/x64/and remove other upscaling or frame-generation wrappers. - Place
dlssnr_on_amd_setup.exeinCyberpunk 2077/bin/x64. - Place your legitimately obtained
nvngx_dlssnr.dllin the same folder. - Run the setup program from that directory and complete its installation.
- Start Cyberpunk 2077 and enable an FSR mode. The README allows any FSR 3 or FSR 4 mode or quality setting, including FSRAA.
- Press End in-game to open the project’s overlay and configure its options.
- Test with ray tracing and frame generation settings unchanged from your baseline, then change one option at a time.
If the game fails to launch, restore the backed-up files before trying another version. Games protected by anti-cheat can block this type of DLL; the single-player Cyberpunk workflow described here does not use an anti-cheat session, but do not assume the same files are safe in multiplayer titles.
Route C: HelixSR script
A 14 October 2026 report described HelixSR as a tool that makes patched games believe they are still using FSR 3.1 while replacing the upscaler with DLSS 3.7 Model E. The report says the AMD card performs the upscaling on regular shader cores because it has no Tensor cores, and observed a slight performance decrease in the author’s test. It also notes a pre-packaged uninstall batch script.

HelixSR is a fast-moving community project. Obtain the current release and instructions from its upstream repository, verify that the release explicitly supports your Cyberpunk build, and read its uninstall procedure before copying files. Do not combine HelixSR with DLSS Enabler, OptiScaler or DLSS-NR-on-AMD unless the project documentation says that combination is supported. If a release includes an uninstall batch file, keep it beside the installed files and run it before switching to another wrapper.

How to compare image quality and performance
There is no single “AMD DLSS” result. A wrapper may route the DLSS-labelled choice to FSR, XeSS or a neural-rendering experiment, each with different sharpening, ghosting and motion behavior. Compare at the same internal resolution, output resolution, ray-tracing preset and driver version.
- Motion: rotate the camera quickly past fences, hair, foliage and rain. Look for trails, breakup and unstable details.
- Fine geometry: inspect thin wires, railings and distant signs at native output resolution.
- Lighting: check neon reflections and volumetric effects, where an incomplete replacement path may show missing or incorrect output effects.
- Latency: judge aiming and driving separately from the frame counter. Generated frames can raise displayed FPS without reducing the time required to render the underlying frames.
- Consistency: repeat the same route or save-game scene after every change. A short menu test is not enough.
Troubleshooting and safe recovery
The game crashes before the menu
Remove every wrapper DLL and restore the original files from your backup. Reinstall only one project, using the release that matches your game patch. Conflicting versions of dlssg-to-fsr3, FSR2FSR3, Uniscaler and older DLSS Enabler packages are documented causes of trouble.
The DLSS option is missing
Confirm that the wrapper files are in Cyberpunk 2077/bin/x64/, not one directory above it, and that the game is running the expected executable. Verify that an overlay hotkey is not being intercepted by another mod. The OptiScaler overlay uses Home; the DLSS-NR-on-AMD overlay uses End.
The screen is black or full of artifacts
Return to the wrapper’s default profile, disable frame generation, and test the replacement upscaler alone. If the issue remains, restore the clean game and test native FSR 3. Artifacts that disappear after removing the wrapper indicate a compatibility problem, not a defective Radeon card.

Performance is worse than native FSR
That result is plausible. Wrapper overhead, shader-core execution and an implementation’s reconstruction cost can outweigh any visual benefit. The HelixSR report specifically observed a slight performance decrease, while the DLSS-NR-on-AMD project’s roughly 33-FPS figure is only a work-in-progress report on one RX 9070 XT at 1080p. Keep the route that delivers the best frame pacing and image stability on your system, not the one with the most impressive label.
Frame generation is unavailable
Check that FSR 3 upscaling is enabled, because Cyberpunk’s frame-generation switch depends on it. Ensure the base frame rate is near the recommended 60 FPS, Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling is enabled, the monitor is 120 Hz or faster if possible, and the Radeon driver is current. A wrapper may also require its own frame-generation DLL and a clean installation without another FG mod.
Uninstalling and returning to the supported setup
- Exit Cyberpunk 2077 and its launcher.
- Run the project’s supplied uninstall script or setup uninstaller when one is provided.
- Delete only files identified by that project’s instructions; do not guess based on similar filenames.
- Restore the backed-up contents of
Cyberpunk 2077/bin/x64/. - Remove temporary launch arguments such as
--dlss-debug=extraand--dlss-logging=on. - Launch the game and re-enable native FSR 3 from Settings → Graphics if desired.
Keeping a clean backup is more reliable than repeatedly layering installers. Every time the game, driver or wrapper changes, redo the baseline test before deciding whether the replacement path is worthwhile.
Bottom line for Radeon players
Use native FSR 3 when you want the supported, broadest-compatibility solution. Use DLSS Enabler with OptiScaler when you specifically want to experiment with an FSR or XeSS replacement behind the game’s DLSS-labelled option and are prepared to manage DLL conflicts. Consider DLSS-NR-on-AMD only on the stated newer Radeon and Windows requirements, and treat its output and performance as experimental. HelixSR is another rapidly changing compatibility layer, not native DLSS. In every case, back up the game, install one wrapper at a time, test against native FSR, and keep an easy path back to the original files.
