Deluge is free BitTorrent client software. Windows users can download an installer, while Linux users should generally use their distribution’s package manager. Deluge’s installation documentation says there is no official macOS installer package currently available; it points to community packages and package-manager options instead. The official download listings checked on October 7, 2026 showed Windows 2.2.0 installers dated April 29, 2025, but listings can change.
Choose the right Deluge download route

Install Deluge on Windows
- Open the Deluge installation page and follow its Windows installer link to the official download directory.
- Choose the installer matching your Windows architecture. The documentation describes Windows 7, 8, and 10 installers for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems; the directory listing checked October 7, 2026 showed 2.2.0 32-bit and 64-bit variants, including files marked for libtorrent 2.0, dated April 29, 2025.
- Download the installer and run it, following the on-screen setup prompts.
The download directory also lists SHA-256 sidecar files. A checksum can be used to check whether a downloaded file matches the listed hash, but a sidecar is not a digital signature. The directory’s date and version describe the listing observed on October 7, 2026, not a guarantee that 2.2.0 remains the newest build.

Install Deluge on Linux
Use the command appropriate to your distribution, as shown in the official installation documentation:

The documentation also lists Flatpak and other distribution options. Prefer the route maintained for your operating system, and check the package source’s instructions if it requires additional setup. Linux package versions are controlled by the distribution or package source; they should not be assumed to match the Windows 2.2.0 listing.

What macOS users should know
Deluge’s installation page states, “Unfortunately no official installer package currently available.” It points to unofficial community .app packages and documents MacPorts and Homebrew/Python alternatives. Those routes are not equivalent to downloading an official macOS installer: check who maintains a package and whether it supports your macOS release before installing it.
The Deluge macOS download directory lists a Deluge 1.3.14 disk image dated March 6, 2017. That old file is not evidence of a current macOS release, and the available sources do not establish compatibility for particular community packages or macOS versions.

Python and source installation are different routes
The installation documentation includes pip install deluge and instructions for installing from source. These are not necessarily one-click desktop installers. Deluge may require platform libraries and other dependencies, including libtorrent and GTK, so use these methods only if you can handle the relevant environment and dependency setup.
Interface and dependency requirements
Deluge uses a daemon/client design and offers GTK, Web, and Console interfaces, with libtorrent as its protocol engine, according to the project repository. The dependency documentation lists libtorrent 1.2.0 or newer for the core daemon, and GTK 3.10 or newer plus related libraries for the GTK interface. Requirements differ by operating system and interface; the documentation does not mean every interface is equally straightforward to install everywhere.

Yes. Deluge’s FAQ describes it as Free Software under the GPL. “Deluge is Free Software, as defined by the Free Software Foundation, and is released under the GPL, giving our users complete freedom.”
