Open Settings > Apps > Samsung Internet and tap Disable if that option is available. Samsung notes that app controls vary by Galaxy model and software version, and some preinstalled apps cannot be disabled or uninstalled. If you do not see Disable, set a different installed browser as the default instead; this changes where ordinary web links open but leaves Samsung Internet on the phone.
Check whether Samsung Internet can be disabled
- Open Settings on your Galaxy phone.
- Tap Apps, then select Samsung Internet. If it is not immediately visible, use the Apps screen’s search control.
- Look for Disable. If it appears, tap it and confirm when prompted. Samsung says a disabled preloaded app is removed from the Apps screen. The available controls depend on the phone model and software version; Samsung’s support guidance is available in its instructions for uninstalling or disabling embedded apps.
If Disable is not shown, the phone does not offer that control for Samsung Internet in its current configuration. Samsung also notes that some preinstalled apps cannot be uninstalled. Do not assume the browser can be removed just because another Galaxy phone allows it.

Set another browser to open web links
When disabling is unavailable, choose a different browser as the default. First install the browser you want to use, if it is not already on the phone. Then open Settings > Apps > Choose default apps > Browser app and select it. The exact available choices depend on the browsers installed. Samsung documents this setting in its Galaxy app-management guidance and Samsung Browser guide.

Changing the default affects which browser is selected for ordinary web links. It does not disable, uninstall, or erase Samsung Internet, and it does not prevent you from opening the app directly.

Know the difference between disabling, changing the default, and hiding an icon

To remove only a shortcut, press and hold its icon and use the launcher’s remove option if available. This changes the home-screen layout, not the app’s status.
Re-enable Samsung Internet if needed
If you disabled the app and want it back, open Settings > Apps, select Samsung Internet, and tap Enable if that control is shown. Samsung describes this recovery route in its app-management guidance.
