To disable Chrome notifications, open Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Notifications on desktop, or More → Settings → Site settings → Notifications on Android. Turn off notifications for all sites, or block a specific site without changing the setting for others.
Choose whether to block all sites or just one
Chrome has a default notification setting and individual site permissions. Use the default setting when you want to stop sites from sending notifications broadly; block an individual site if you only want to silence one sender. Chrome’s quieter prompts are a separate option: they make permission requests less intrusive but do not automatically deny them.

Go to Privacy and security → Site settings → Notifications.

Choose the default notification setting to block site requests, or find the site under the allowed list and block it. You can also add a site to Not allowed to send notifications.
To block a site while you are visiting it, select the site information control beside the address bar, open its permissions, and change the notification permission. Google’s Chrome notification instructions for computers describe the available default and per-site controls.

Turn off notifications in Chrome for Android

Open Chrome and tap More → Settings → Site settings → Notifications.

Turn off the notifications setting to block notifications from sites broadly.

To change one site instead, open that site, tap Page info → Permissions, then change its notification permission.

Quieter prompts do not block notifications
If you want fewer interruptions but may still want to approve a site later, use Chrome’s quieter notification prompts. They make the request less prominent; a site can still ask for permission. To prevent site notifications, deny the request or change the default or site-specific permission instead.

Chrome may remove permissions from sites you have not visited for a while. Review removed permissions through Safety Check or the notification review available in Chrome. Menu labels can change; if you do not see the documented route, look under Site settings.

Google Chrome Help notes that “If you browse privately, you won’t get notifications.” Private browsing is not a replacement for changing persistent site permissions in a regular browsing session.
Notifications and pop-ups are different
Blocking notifications does not block pop-up windows or redirects. On desktop, open Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Pop-ups and redirects to manage those separately. If a particular site is responsible, block it there as well. Google’s pop-up guidance covers that separate control.
If unwanted ads continue on Android
First check the site’s notification permission. If ads persist after you turn off the relevant permission, the cause may be something other than Chrome website notifications. Google’s Android guidance for unwanted ads, pop-ups and malware also explains how to investigate problematic apps and malware. An unwanted notification alone does not establish that a device is infected.
