On a Pixel 11 Pro, ordinary flash alerts are configured at Settings > Notifications > Flash notifications. You can choose the camera flash, the screen, or both; the screen option also lets you pick a color. Google’s HiLight ring is a separate feature with different triggers and customization.
Turn on camera or screen flash notifications

Open Settings.

Tap Notifications > Flash notifications. If you do not see that route, try Accessibility > Flash notifications. Labels can vary by software version. Google Pixel Help documents the Notifications route, and Android Accessibility Help documents the alternate route.

To set a screen-flash color, tap Screen flash, choose a color, tap Preview to see it, then tap Done to save. Google says yellow is the default screen-flash color. Preview also lets you check the camera flash effect. Android Accessibility Help

What to expect from flash alerts

For a standard notification, the selected light flashes a couple of times. For incoming calls it continues until you answer; for alarms it continues until you dismiss or snooze the alarm.

Flash notifications follow your Do Not Disturb settings. They can still work in silent mode, even when vibration is off.

These settings create visual flashes; Google’s documentation does not describe them as a continuously lit notification light. Use them cautiously if you are sensitive to flashing lights. Android Accessibility Help

How HiLight differs from flash notifications
HiLight is a separate rear LED ring around the camera flash, not another setting for the screen or camera-flash alerts above. Google identifies the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro Fold as HiLight devices; its Pixel support result also lists the Pixel 11 Pro XL. The ring is described as lighting up when the phone is face down for calls from favorite contacts and while you are talking to Gemini hands-free. You can assign colors to important contacts. Can a third-party app add per-app HiLight colors?
The Google Play listing for HiLight Notification for Pixel by LL Cloud Apps advertises expanded per-app colors and patterns for Pixel 11 Pro, Pro XL, and Pro Fold. The developer says it requires Android 17 and a one-time setup involving Developer options and Wireless debugging; root or Shizuku are described as optional alternatives. This is a third-party app, not a Google feature or recommendation, and those requirements and availability may change.
