On your Pixel, touch and hold an empty area of the home screen, tap Wallpaper & style, swipe to Lock screen, then swipe up to see the controls. From there you can change the clock, shortcuts, notifications, text, device controls and other lock-screen behavior; available options depend on your Android version and Pixel model.

Google’s clock-style controls apply to Android 16 and higher. In Wallpaper & style > Lock screen, swipe up and tap Clock. Choose a preset, then adjust its appearance:

Use the width slider to make the clock narrower or wider.

Choose a color, or match it to the wallpaper theme and adjust the shade.

Turn on Large to increase the clock size.
Tap Apply to save the selection. A larger or more prominent style can make the time easier to read; a smaller style leaves more visual space for other lock-screen content.

From Wallpaper & style > Lock screen, swipe up and tap Shortcuts. Set each side independently:

Tap Left shortcut or Right shortcut.

Choose an available feature and tap Apply.
Google lists these choices: Do not disturb, Home, QR code scanner, Wallet, Camera, Flashlight, Mute and Video camera. Pick the actions you use most; the available list may vary with your device or software.
Set notification visibility and privacy
Open Notifications on lock screen in the Lock screen settings. You can turn lock-screen notifications on or off, select Compact View or Full list, and separately choose whether to show viewed-notification icons, silent notifications and sensitive content.
Compact View shows less notification detail at a glance, while Full list gives a fuller view. Showing sensitive content is more convenient if you want to read details without unlocking, but can expose them to anyone who can see your screen. To change that setting through Android settings, go to Settings > Notifications > Notifications on lock screen > Show sensitive content.

Tap to check phone, Lift to check phone and Wake screen for notifications, which control when the screen wakes or can be checked.
Set a different lock-screen wallpaper
Your lock-screen image can be different from your home-screen wallpaper. To change it, touch and hold an empty area on the home screen, tap Wallpapers & style, then Change wallpaper. Choose Lock screen, select a personal photo or an available preset, preview it and apply it. See Google’s wallpaper instructions for the documented flow.
Know which wallpaper effects your Pixel supports
Some creation tools are limited by model or account eligibility, so their absence does not necessarily indicate a settings problem:

AI wallpapers are listed for Pixel 8 and later and may be unavailable for some account types, including Family Link accounts.

Show wallpaper on the Always-on display
Google’s current lock-screen guide lists the option to show lock-screen wallpaper on the Always-on display only for Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. On those models, go to Settings > Display & touch > Always-on display > Show lock screen wallpaper. This is a model-specific control, not a general Pixel setting.
