GTA VI Trailer 2 sets up a failed score that draws Lucia and Jason into a criminal conspiracy spanning the fictional state of Leonida. Rockstar names Vice City as the starting point, but the story’s stated scope is wider than the city. The clearest reveal is the pair’s predicament—and their growing need to rely on each other—not a full plot outline.
What does GTA 6 Trailer 2 reveal about the story?
Rockstar’s official synopsis says Jason and Lucia’s “easy score” goes wrong, placing them in the middle of a conspiracy stretching across Leonida. They are forced to depend on each other more than before if they want to get out alive. That is the confirmed story premise; the synopsis does not lay out a sequence of missions or explain who is behind the conspiracy.

Rockstar’s Trailer 2 announcement introduces the setting with “Vice City, USA.” Its official GTA VI page repeats the premise. Together, those descriptions frame the teaser as the beginning of a criminal story that grows beyond one city.

Their reliance on each other is the strongest relationship detail Rockstar confirms in the synopsis. They are presented as a pair caught in the same escalating danger, with survival tied to cooperation. Calling them co-protagonists is a reasonable description of this setup; the synopsis alone does not establish that they are married, romantically involved, or destined to betray one another.

- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
The trailer’s premise also leaves their exact roles in the failed score unclear. Rockstar says it goes wrong, but the synopsis does not explain what they intended to steal, how the job fails, or how they become entangled in the wider conspiracy. Those details should not be treated as confirmed plot points based only on the official summary.
Is GTA 6 set in Vice City, or across Leonida?
Both descriptions fit, but they refer to different scales. Vice City is the named setting in Rockstar’s introduction, while Leonida is the larger fictional state across which the conspiracy stretches. The teaser therefore points to a city-centered entry into a wider state-level story, not a plot confined to Vice City.

- Play as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran, as you fight alongside a modern-day guerrilla revolution to liberate Yara
- Fight against Castillo’s regime in the most expansive Far Cry to date, through jungles, beaches, and Esperanza, the capital city of Yara
- Employ an arsenal of resolver weapons, backpacks, and vehicles to take down Castillo’s ruthless regime.
The official synopsis does not specify the map’s precise limits or identify every location shown in the trailer. A shot that looks like a particular place may support speculation, but it does not by itself establish a location or prove how much of Leonida players can explore.
Is Trailer 2 actual gameplay?
Rockstar’s verified trailer description says the footage was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5 and is made up of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes. That means it is not accurate to describe the whole video as freely playable action: the official description explicitly distinguishes gameplay from cutscenes. Take-Two also said the trailer footage was captured on PS5 in its May 6, 2025 announcement.
