You can create SVG graphics with local AI by running a model in ComfyUI, choosing a text-to-SVG or image-to-SVG workflow, then opening the result in a vector editor such as Inkscape to inspect and refine it. “Local” describes where the model runs; it does not automatically mean every generation step is offline. The ComfyUI.org page reviewed for Quiver calls it a Partner Node and does not establish whether it requires a remote service or account.
What you need before creating an SVG
- ComfyUI: A node-based environment with documented installation routes for Windows and Linux, Apple silicon guidance, and model management. Installation and hardware requirements depend on the model and platform; there is no single minimum GPU specification that applies to every setup. See the ComfyUI repository.
- A local image model: Install and configure a model supported by your ComfyUI setup. Follow the model-specific instructions for files and platform dependencies.
- A vector-generation workflow: The documented Quiver workflow offers text-to-SVG and image-to-SVG operations within ComfyUI. Its page describes the integration as a Partner Node, so confirm its current network, account, availability, and terms before assuming the entire workflow runs locally. See the Quiver workflow page.
- A vector editor: Inkscape or another SVG-capable editor lets you inspect and modify paths rather than treating the generated result as a finished image.
Choose text-to-SVG or image-to-SVG
| What you want to make | Workflow | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| A simple icon, emblem, or logo concept from a description | Text-to-SVG in ComfyUI, such as the documented Quiver path | Direct vector output can still need cleanup. The Partner Node label alone does not establish whether generation is fully offline. |
| Paths based on a sketch or raster image | Image-to-SVG | Think of this as tracing: it may create too many nodes, simplify colors, or produce awkward contours that need editing. |
| A complex illustration or precise brand mark | Use AI for a draft or reference, then refine manually in a vector editor | Manual work offers more control. Inspect the output carefully rather than using it as a final design without review. |
How to create text-to-SVG graphics in ComfyUI
- Install ComfyUI and configure a local model. Use the platform-specific setup guidance in the ComfyUI repository, and place model files in the locations required by your setup.
- Find and import the workflow. The Quiver workflow instructions say to install required models, import the workflow JSON, and locate Quiver through the Node Library or templates. Labels and availability can change, so use the current workflow page as your reference.
- Write a vector-friendly prompt. Begin with a clear subject, a limited palette, and distinct shapes. A flat icon or emblem is generally easier to refine than a scene full of fine detail; this is practical guidance, not a measured performance guarantee.
- Generate and review the SVG. Inspect the result in a vector editor and render it at the size where it will be used. Look for malformed paths, unwanted overlaps, holes, color errors, and details that disappear when scaled down.
- Revise the prompt or paths. If the design is off, make a specific change—such as simplifying a contour or separating two shapes—and generate again or edit the paths directly.
How to create SVG from an image
For image-to-SVG, use a sketch or raster image as the input to a supported workflow. Treat the output as a trace that must be checked, not as proof that the source image has become a clean, hand-authored vector.

- Use a reference with a clear subject and shapes that are easy to distinguish.
- Run the image-to-SVG workflow described by the Quiver instructions, after installing any required models and importing its workflow.
- Open the result in a vector editor. Check whether the trace has excess nodes, jagged or uneven contours, merged shapes, or colors that were lost or simplified.
- Remove unnecessary points, correct contours and fills, and compare the rendered result with the original at the intended display size.
Edit and validate AI-generated SVG in Inkscape
Open the SVG in Inkscape and inspect the actual vector elements. Check path count and complexity, holes and overlaps, fill colors, small details, and any text. Correct the geometry and appearance in the editor, then render or export a preview to confirm the design behaves as expected. The Inkscape Wiki describes SVG as an editable working document and distinguishes it from exporting a PNG; that older page supports the general workflow distinction, not exact current menu labels.

Why SVG output still needs a human review
Vector output is not automatically regular or geometrically sound. The CVPR 2025 Chat2SVG paper discusses difficulties in shape regularity, generalization, and complex geometry, and describes a visual rectification approach that feeds rendered output back for inspection. That supports a useful working habit: judge the rendered graphic, not only the SVG source or the prompt.
- Inspect the design at its real display size; tiny defects may be invisible when zoomed in.
- Compare important edges and proportions against the intended design or reference.
- Prefer a simpler shape structure when it communicates the same idea more cleanly.
- For brand-critical work, verify the design manually and check applicable rights and licensing before use.
Keep an editable master and export what you need
Save the SVG as the editable vector master. Export a PNG separately when a website, presentation, or other destination needs a raster image. Before delivery, check that fonts, clipping, gradients, and rendering remain correct in the target app. This preserves the ability to revise paths later instead of making the exported bitmap your only copy.

What “local AI” does—and does not—mean here
ComfyUI documents ways to run models locally, but a workflow can include a separate node or service. The cited Quiver page identifies its integration as a Partner Node; it does not establish whether that node currently works fully offline, requires an account or internet access, or what licensing and commercial-use terms apply. Check the current first-party terms and workflow availability before relying on it for confidential work or commercial delivery. Do not infer offline operation or usage rights from the fact that ComfyUI itself can run locally.
