For each Hindi news story, create a rights-cleared image that accurately represents the article, host it at a publicly accessible URL, and add its URL and the story’s title and description to Open Graph metadata in the page’s HTML <head>. Then inspect the live page and preview the share on the platforms that matter to your readers. A 1200 × 630 pixel canvas is a useful starting point, not a universal platform requirement.
1. Choose and design an image that fits the story
Use a representative photograph or illustration that you have permission to publish. The image should remain truthful when seen apart from the article: avoid visuals that imply events or details the story does not support.

A headline embedded in the image is optional. Social cards usually have separate title and description metadata, and text baked into an image can become difficult to read when the card is displayed small or cropped. If you add Hindi text or a logo, use a Devanagari-capable font, proofread the rendered text, and leave safe margins around important content.

A consistent template can make cards recognizable across the site. Treat the template as a design system, not a reason to use a misleading or irrelevant image for a particular story.

2. Pick dimensions, export, and host the image
A 1200 × 630 pixel image is a practical cross-platform starting canvas described by OG Image Design’s size guide. It is not a dimension mandated by the Open Graph protocol, nor a guarantee that every service will display the image without cropping. Check the current requirements of the platforms where your audience shares stories, and make sure key text or logos remain legible in smaller previews.
Export the image in a format appropriate to your publishing setup and serve it from a stable public URL. Social crawlers need to retrieve it without an interactive login. The Open Graph og:image property identifies the image URL representing the page; optional structured properties can specify its MIME type, width, height, and secure URL.
3. Add Open Graph metadata to each article
Put the metadata in the article page’s HTML <head>, and populate it with that story’s actual values. The Open Graph protocol identifies og:title, og:type, og:image, and og:url as its four basic required properties. For a news story, article is an appropriate type. The example below is illustrative; replace the example domain, image, and Hindi text with the real values for each page.

</head>Use the canonical URL of the article for og:url, not a temporary preview URL or a URL with tracking parameters. Write og:image:alt as a concise description of what the image actually shows; it is not a caption or a second headline. The protocol’s locale format is language_TERRITORY; select the locale appropriate to your Hindi publication. og:description, og:site_name, and og:locale are useful optional properties.
For an article page, Open Graph also documents article-specific properties such as publication time, modification time, author, section, and tags. Add relevant values if your publishing system maintains them; do not populate them with guesses.
4. Verify the live page and social preview
Check the delivered page rather than relying only on fields shown in your CMS. Confirm that the rendered HTML contains the intended title, canonical URL, image URL, and description, and that a crawler can retrieve the image from its public URL.

- Open the published article and inspect its page source or rendered HTML. Confirm there is one correct set of per-article Open Graph values in the
<head>. - Open the image URL directly in a browser or otherwise verify that it resolves publicly without a login.
- Use the sharing or inspection tool for each priority platform and examine the actual preview, including the crop and legibility of any Hindi text.
- If you change the metadata or image, fetch or inspect the updated page again with the relevant platform tool. Platforms may reuse previously fetched preview data; their caching and refresh behavior varies.
The Open Graph documentation references Facebook’s Object Debugger as its official parser and debugger. LinkedIn says website source code should comply with Open Graph and that its sharing module has specific image requirements. Check the current platform guidance for exact constraints rather than assuming a single image will render identically everywhere.
5. Choose one image or platform-specific versions
A single 1200 × 630 canvas is a manageable starting convention, but different platform rendering and image requirements can make separate exports worthwhile. Decide based on the destinations you actually support and the editorial cost of maintaining variants.
- Use one shared image when it remains clear under the crops and display sizes you have checked, and when it meets the current requirements of your priority services.
- Make separate variants when a platform’s current requirements or observed crop makes the shared design unsuitable, or when Hindi text becomes unreadable at the rendered size.
- Before adding variants to the CMS, confirm its image fields and publishing workflow can reliably associate each version with the correct platform. The Open Graph image property alone does not establish how a particular CMS handles platform-specific assets.
6. Troubleshoot common preview problems
The preview shows no image
Check that og:image is present in the live page head, contains the intended complete image URL, and is reachable by a crawler without an interactive login. Then inspect the page with the relevant platform’s sharing or debugging tool.

The preview shows the wrong or stale image
Compare the live og:image value with the image you intended to publish, then re-fetch or inspect the page using that platform’s tool. A service may reuse previously fetched preview data; refresh controls and caching behavior are platform-specific.
The image is cropped or Hindi text is hard to read
Preview the actual card on the target service. Move important text and logos away from the edges, reduce the amount of text in the image, or create a platform-specific export if its current rendering calls for one. Do not assume that a 1200 × 630 canvas prevents cropping.

Inspect the live values for og:title, og:description, and og:url, as well as og:image. Ensure they belong to the individual story rather than a site-wide default, and check that the canonical URL points to the intended article.
