Use AION 2’s built-in skill macro for a short sequence of predictable actions, and keep decisions that depend on timing, targets, danger, or movement under your control. A macro key cycles through its ordered skills while held and stops when released, according to a current community guide; exact menus and behavior may differ by region or change with patches.
Set up a short, focused macro
The current global-version setup guide describes the built-in skill macro as trying listed skills from top to bottom while the assigned key is held, then repeating the sequence until you release the key. It recommends configuring the sequence through the Skill screen, ordering the actions, setting their delays, assigning a key, and testing the result on a training dummy. - Choose one job. Decide whether the sequence is for a predictable single-target PvE loop or another repeatable situation. Avoid trying to make one sequence handle every encounter and PvP scenario.
- Open the Skill screen and add actions in order. The guide describes adding skills to the built-in macro there. A community workshop instead describes selecting quick-slot actions; treat the live client’s labels as authoritative because the workshop says some details need confirmation on the EU client. - Put the most important repeatable action first. The macro attempts earlier entries before later ones, so order affects what it tries when several actions are available. Add a lower-priority filler later only if it suits the sequence.
- Set delays conservatively and test. The community guides disagree on delay strategy: one discusses matching delay to ping or using a low value, while the other reports a 10 ms minimum for its referenced live region. Neither establishes a universal ideal, and a low delay does not guarantee every action activates. If skills are skipped, increase the delay and test again.
- Assign the macro key and test while holding and releasing it. Confirm that it repeats as expected while held and stops when released. Test on the same character and build you intend to use.
Choose actions that can safely repeat
Good candidates are frequent, predictable actions that make sense whenever available: short-cooldown attacks, deterministic chain steps, and simple fillers. Keep the sequence compact. Every additional action creates another opportunity for a fixed loop to fire at the wrong time or under the wrong conditions.

Community guides specifically caution against automating emergency heals, barriers, cleanses, defensive cooldowns, interrupts, hard control, positioning tools, long burst cooldowns, charged skills, reactive dodge or block abilities, and PvP dashes or leaps. These actions often need to be saved for a threat, opening, target, or position that a fixed sequence cannot assess.

Build separately for PvE and PvP

The practical test is the cost of a mistimed action. In PvE, a range change, target swap, boss mechanic, or buff window can make a routine sequence inappropriate. In PvP, a wrongly timed escape or gap closer can cost an opening or leave you exposed. NCSOFT said in its March 25, 2026 announcement that it separated PvP and PvE damage calculations and adjusted balance; that is another reason not to assume a sequence has the same value in both modes. Understand the limits of macro safety claims
Prefer the in-game feature and remain actively in control. NCSOFT’s January 28, 2026 announcement says it raised the minimum gathering level to 45 “to further limit the use of automated gathering macros.” That statement addresses automated gathering and anti-bot measures; it does not define every permissible combat-macro pattern or guarantee that any particular combat use is allowed. The same announcement mentions mouse-click cancellation of basic attacks as a skill-use improvement, not as a macro policy. NCSOFT’s January 28, 2026 anti-bot announcement.

A third-party policy guide updated September 19, 2026 says actively used skill-weaving macros are tolerated and distinguishes them from AFK macros, scripts, and unauthorized tools. That is the guide’s interpretation, not an official NCSOFT assurance. Test and maintain the sequence
Evaluate reliability and control, not just damage. Use the same target and build, watch for skipped activations, and repeat the test after balance, animation, queue, or interface changes. Include cases where you move, lose range, switch targets, and release the macro key. A community workshop suggests comparing a 60-second manual run with a macro run; that is a proposed test method, not evidence that the macro improves damage.

- If actions are skipped, increase the delay and retest rather than assuming the lowest available setting is best.
- If the sequence continues to attempt actions after range or target conditions change, shorten it or reserve those actions for manual use.
- After an update, verify the current Skill-screen or quick-slot workflow and test the sequence again; community instructions may not match every region or patch.
