There is no documented “Custom Nightmare” editor, upload button, or user-authored horror-map workflow in the current official Play Together materials. If you are looking for a Halloween event or a feature shown in a regional client, verify it in your own game before following a tutorial. The documented sharing tools are Home Parties, Friends features, Play TV creator content, and Game Party; none is described as a way to publish a playable custom nightmare.
You can still organize a horror-themed role-play session with friends by using a Home Party and the game’s social tools, or watch creator-made clips through Play TV. The steps below separate those supported activities from features that official documentation does not establish.

What “custom nightmare” means in Play Together
Play Together is presented by HAEGIN as a social game in which players interact in a village and enjoy different kinds of content. Its store description emphasizes creating an avatar, making friends, and exploring a social world. The Google Play listing recorded more than 10 million downloads and about 2.16 million reviews in 2026; the current Apple App Store listing shows a 4.5/5 score from 73,000 ratings. Those figures describe the game’s reach, not the existence of a nightmare-building tool.

- A personal horror map or scripted scenario that friends can enter.
- A Halloween event with a special name that is translated differently by region.
- A creator video or role-play challenge that looks like an in-game mode.
- A nickname for a difficult minigame or a private Home Party theme.
The official guide and store materials currently available do not name a mode called Custom Nightmare, Nightmare, or an equivalent player-authored scenario system. They also do not describe a map editor, trigger or scripting interface, export process, or publishing queue. Consequently, there is no reliable sequence of menus for creating and uploading one.
What you can do instead
The practical choice depends on whether you want live play with invited people or a video that anyone can discover.

How to run a horror-themed session with a Home Party
A Home Party is the closest documented option if your goal is to play a self-designed story with friends. Treat the “nightmare” as a theme or role-play plan that you and your guests agree to, rather than as a file or mode that the game imports.

Write a short premise, such as a night-time hide-and-seek story, a mystery conversation, or a sequence of locations to visit. Keep the rules understandable without assuming an editor exists.
- Prepare your home. Arrange the space and any available decorations or avatar customizations so guests can recognize the setting. Do not promise effects, locked areas, scripted scares, or mechanics unless you can see them in your current client.
- Invite the participants. Use the game’s Home Party invitation controls to bring friends to your home. The store listing specifically describes inviting friends for fishing, games, conversation, and role-play.
- Explain the rules before starting. Tell guests where the session begins, what counts as completing the story, and how to signal that they want to stop. A written message in your normal chat channel can prevent confusion.
- Run the scenario manually. Guide players through the agreed sequence using movement, conversation, available activities, and ordinary social interactions. If a planned action is not available in the client, replace it with a simple spoken rule rather than claiming the game supports a hidden command.
- End the session deliberately. Announce when the role-play is over and return to normal play. This avoids guests mistaking an improvised rule for a permanent game feature.
This approach gives you a private, friend-controlled experience, but it does not create an asset that can be uploaded, searched, or launched later as “Custom Nightmare.”

How to bring friends together with the documented social tools
Summon a friend
When you need a particular player to join you, open Phone > Friends > Summon. The official guide identifies Summon as a Friends function. The exact confirmation text or availability can vary with the client, so follow the prompts shown on your screen.
Follow a player
To use the documented follow function, open Phone > Friends > Follow. Follow is a social connection, not a subscription to a custom-map feed. It does not turn a Home Party into a public nightmare or grant creator publishing rights.
Use invitations rather than public discovery
For a private story, give guests the premise and invite only the people you want. Home Party play is the appropriate documented model for friend-to-friend activity; Play TV serves a different purpose because it is a viewing area for creator-made clips.
How to watch creator content in Play TV
If what you saw was a video titled “nightmare,” it may be creator content rather than an interactive map. HAEGIN’s guide says, “Play TV is where you can view Play Together content made by content creators from all around the world.” To check:

- Open the in-game Device.
- Select Play TV.
- Touch the clip you want to watch.
Play TV is documented as a viewing path. The available material may include role-play, challenges, or themed scenes, but the guide does not state that ordinary players can upload a playable map through this menu. If a clip invites you to “download” a nightmare, verify whether it is simply directing you to watch a video or to join a separate event.
Where Game Party fits
Game Party is another official activity that can be mistaken for a custom scenario because it brings many players into a competition. The guide describes it as a minigame tournament for up to 30 players with several minigame types. You can reach it through either Plaza > Game Center or Phone > Play Game > Game Party.
Use Game Party when you want a structured, shared contest. It is not the place to upload a horror map, define your own objectives, or publish a story for friends. A Halloween-themed tournament, if one appears in your version, should be treated as an event supplied by the game unless the client itself exposes authoring controls.
How to check whether a regional or seasonal feature is real
Names and availability can differ by region and client version. A translated label, limited-time Halloween event, or feature added after the current guide could explain why another player mentions “Custom Nightmare.” Verify it in the following order:

- Identify the exact client. Note your platform, country or region, app version, and the language in use. Ask the person who shared the tutorial for the same details.
- Look for the feature in normal navigation. Check the Phone, Device, Plaza, Home, and event panels without entering unofficial commands or downloading files.
- Read the in-game Help & Support. Search the exact event or menu name shown in your client. This is more reliable than a video using a different build.
- Compare the wording. A creator video may call a role-play challenge a “nightmare” even when the game labels it as a Home Party, a clip, or a regular minigame.
- Check official regional community channels. Use the channels associated with HAEGIN and your region, and confirm the date and supported platform of any announcement.
Do not enter account credentials on a page that claims to unlock a hidden editor, and do not install an unverified package to obtain a supposed nightmare mode. A genuine in-game feature should be reachable through the client or announced through an official channel.

“There is a Custom Nightmare button in the menu.”
The currently documented navigation does not list that button. Ask for a screenshot that includes the platform, language, and version. Without those details, the label could belong to another game, a temporary event, or a creator’s own terminology.
“Play TV lets me upload my nightmare.”
The official description establishes viewing creator-made content and gives the path Device > Play TV. It does not establish a player upload workflow or a playable-map repository.
“Game Party is the nightmare editor.”
Game Party is a tournament reached through Game Center or the Phone’s Play Game menu. Its documented purpose is joining minigames with up to 30 players, not designing scenarios.

“A tutorial worked for someone else, so the option must be hidden.”
Different regions, translations, event windows, and client versions can expose different labels. Confirm the source date and version before assuming that a missing control is merely hidden.
A decision guide for your goal
- You want friends to participate live: plan a role-play session in a Home Party and use Friends tools such as Summon.
- You want people to watch a finished performance: look for relevant clips in Device > Play TV.
- You want a competitive activity for a large group: join Game Party through Plaza > Game Center or Phone > Play Game > Game Party.
- You want a reusable, public, user-authored horror map: the current official materials do not provide an authoring or publishing path, so wait for an explicit in-game or official announcement rather than improvising menu steps.
What to include when asking for help
If you still see references to a custom nightmare, provide enough information for support or other players to distinguish a real feature from a nickname:
- The exact spelling of the menu or event.
- Your platform, region, language, and client version.
- Where you expected to find it: Phone, Device, Plaza, Home, or an event panel.
- A screenshot or recording that shows the full navigation path.
- The date and source of the tutorial or announcement.
These details also protect you from following instructions intended for a different edition or a limited-time event. Until an official source documents creation and sharing, describe your activity accurately as a Home Party role-play, a Play TV clip, or a Game Party session.

Play Together currently documents social homes, friend-management tools, creator-video viewing, and minigame tournaments—not a custom nightmare editor or upload system. You can stage a horror-themed experience privately with friends in a Home Party, watch themed creator clips in Play TV, or use Game Party for its supported competitions. For any named nightmare event that appears in your region, verify the exact client and consult in-game Help & Support or official regional channels before relying on a tutorial.
