You can run a continuous YouTube channel from fighting-game replay videos by sending a replay playlist to YouTube Live through an encoder—or by using a hosted cloud playout service. You do not need a capture card if you already have usable replay files. If you still need to record matches from a console, capture hardware may be part of your setup.
What an always-on replay channel needs
An always-on channel is a continuous live feed, not a collection of ordinary uploads. YouTube receives video from a software encoder or a standalone hardware encoder. For replay content, the encoder’s source must play your recorded matches in the order you choose; the encoder then sends the feed to YouTube.

There are two starting points:
- You already have replay files: Organize them into a rotation and choose how to play and send that rotation: with a local encoder or hosted cloud playout.
- You still need to capture matches: First establish a recording workflow for the console and game you use. A capture card can help create video files, but the right hardware depends on your console, connections, target resolution and frame rate, passthrough needs, and recording workflow.
YouTube’s encoder instructions cover how to send a live feed; they do not establish permission to rebroadcast a game, tournament broadcast, commentary, music, or player likeness. Check applicable permissions for each title and event before streaming.

How do I make a 24/7 YouTube channel for game replays?
1. Prepare the replay library
Make a rotation or playlist before you configure the broadcast. Label each file with the game, event, date, players, and match so you can identify it later. Keep separate copies of source recordings if you need dependable individual video uploads or want to preserve matches independently of the live feed.

The setup guidance does not establish a universal fighting-game replay export procedure or a required file format. Use files your chosen playback and encoding setup can actually read, and test the full sequence before launch. If you have not yet made replay files, see the capture section below.
2. Enable live streaming and check channel eligibility
In YouTube Studio, verify the channel and enable live streaming before your planned start. YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Its eligibility guidance also requires that the channel have no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Check the channel’s current status rather than assuming it is ready on launch day.
3. Create or schedule the stream
Open the Live Control Room in YouTube Studio, create a stream or schedule one, and set its title, description, visibility, and other metadata. Choose settings that clearly identify the game, event, and match rotation. Creating a scheduled event does not itself send video: a source still has to feed the encoder, and the encoder still has to connect to YouTube.

4. Choose local or hosted playout
With local playout, a software encoder can use the replay videos as its source; a standalone hardware encoder is another route. Someone must keep the local playback and encoding setup available and connected for the feed to continue. Check that your chosen software or hardware can play the files and maintain the rotation you want.
Hosted playout is an alternative if you do not want a computer at home to keep sending the feed. Compare options on playlist control, interruption recovery, stream segmentation and VOD preservation, supported output quality, and total operating cost. Those capabilities vary by service, so confirm current terms and behavior with the provider.
5. Connect the encoder and verify the feed
- In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open the stream’s encoder or streaming setup details and copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key.
- Enter those values in the corresponding server or stream URL and key fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to send video to your channel.
- Set the replay playlist as the video source and start sending the feed from the encoder.
- Check the Live Control Room preview and status. Confirm that the intended video and audio are present and that YouTube reports the broadcast as live before relying on the rotation.
The cited YouTube setup guidance does not establish universal encoder bitrate, resolution, frame-rate, or keyframe settings for every fighting game and production. Use settings supported by your source, encoder, and connection, and test them in the actual workflow rather than treating a single preset as guaranteed.

6. Plan for archives and continuity
YouTube says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume the same archive behavior for a feed that runs longer than 12 hours. Preserve source files separately, plan how you will divide or restart long broadcasts if you need individual VODs, and upload searchable match videos as their own videos when that is important to your channel.

Platform setup is not a content license. Before including a replay, check the applicable game-publisher terms and any tournament rules or permissions. Consider in-game music, broadcast overlays, commentary, and player likenesses as well as the gameplay itself. Permissions can differ by title, event, and material; no blanket permission is established here.
Do I need a capture card to stream match replays?
No—not if you already have usable replay video files. A capture card is relevant when you need to create recordings from console gameplay. It is not a requirement for sending existing files through an encoder.

If you still need to record console matches
Choose a capture path only after checking compatibility with the specific console and its video connections. Compare supported resolution and frame rate, whether you need passthrough to play on a display while recording, and how the recording software stores files for later playback. No particular capture-card model or game-specific recording procedure is established here, so verify those details for your equipment before buying or building around a device.

If you already have replay files, the main choice is who operates the playback and sends the feed. A local setup gives you direct control over the encoder and playlist, but the computer or encoder and its network connection have to remain available. A hosted service can remove that local-computer requirement, but you should check its actual playlist features, recovery behavior, archiving workflow, quality limits, and current price before committing.

Common problems and practical fixes
- You cannot start a live stream: Verify the channel and enable live streaming ahead of time. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. Check whether the channel has a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days.
- YouTube does not show a preview or live status: Confirm the encoder is running, the correct stream URL and key were entered, and the encoder is sending video. Recheck the stream details in the Live Control Room.
- The wrong match plays or the rotation stops: Check the playlist order and verify that every file can be read by the playback and encoding setup. Test a complete rotation before leaving it unattended.
- The broadcast ends but you cannot find a complete archive: YouTube’s stated automatic-archive behavior applies to streams under 12 hours. Keep source files and plan separate match uploads or manageable broadcast segments rather than depending on a single archive for a longer feed.
- A replay includes material you may not have rights to rebroadcast: Remove or replace it until you have checked permissions for the game, tournament footage, music, commentary, and other included material. A successful technical setup does not resolve rights questions.
