How to Create a 24/7 YouTube Study Beats Radio Stream With a Static Image

Learn how to send a continuous study-beats stream with a static image to YouTube, configure an encoder, test the feed, and address music rights.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To run a 24/7 YouTube study-beats radio stream with one static image, create a live stream in YouTube Studio, send a continuous audio-and-video feed from an encoder, and keep that encoder and its internet connection running. First enable live streaming on an eligible channel; activation can take up to 24 hours. Before going live, make sure you have rights for both the music and image, then test the incoming feed in YouTube Live Control Room.

What you need before starting

  • A YouTube channel that is verified, has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and is operated by someone at least 16 years old. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.
  • An encoder: software on a computer or a standalone hardware encoder. YouTube’s encoder guide lists OBS among software options. See YouTube’s encoder guidance.
  • A study-beats audio track or playlist and a static image that you are licensed to use for continuous live broadcast and any archived playback.
  • A stable upload connection and a device that can stay powered on and connected for the duration of the stream.

1. Enable live streaming and prepare your channel

  1. Sign in to YouTube with the channel that will host the radio stream.
  2. Complete channel verification and enable live streaming, following YouTube Studio’s prompts.
  3. Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days and that the person streaming meets YouTube’s age requirement.
  4. If this is the channel’s first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation before planning the launch.

2. Create the live event in YouTube Studio

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live to enter Live Control Room.
  2. Create a new stream or schedule it. Add a clear title and description, choose the audience setting, and select the visibility you intend (for example, unlisted for a private technical test or public for launch).
  3. Choose the encoder workflow and copy the server URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your event. Do not publish it or share it in screenshots.
  4. For a scheduled public launch, YouTube’s tips recommend preparing at least two hours ahead and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. For an always-on stream, use that as preflight guidance: start the feed early enough to confirm the preview and stream health before you make it public. Read YouTube’s live-streaming tips.

3. Prepare the static image and study-beats audio

Choose assets you are allowed to broadcast

Use an image you created, licensed for this use, or otherwise have the right to broadcast. Confirm that the music license covers live streaming and any archived playback; permissions for ordinary uploads do not necessarily cover continuous live use. Rights may also differ by territory or monetization status.

Build a continuous audio-and-video feed

Set the encoder to show the still image while it plays the study-beats audio. A still picture does not remove the need for an active video feed: the encoder must keep sending video along with audio. YouTube’s published guidance does not specify a special resolution or ideal format for a still-image music stream, so choose a resolution your encoder and upload connection can sustain rather than treating a higher resolution as necessary.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

If you are using a playlist, make sure the audio continues from track to track without leaving the encoder with a silent or disconnected feed. Confirm the loop behavior in your chosen playback and encoder setup before the public launch.

4. Configure and connect the encoder

Recommended baseline settings

YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a two-second keyframe interval (not over four seconds), and stereo audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. For H.264 at 1080p30, the same guidance lists 5 Mbps as the minimum and 14 Mbps as recommended. For AV1 or H.265/HEVC at 1080p30, it lists 4 Mbps minimum and 10 Mbps recommended. These are YouTube’s published encoder figures, not measured requirements for a low-motion stream with a still image. Set a bitrate your encoder and sustained upload connection can support reliably, and leave headroom for network variation. Check YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate guidance.

Setting YouTube guidance Practical use here
Video codec H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 Choose a codec supported by both your encoder and selected YouTube ingestion workflow.
Bitrate control CBR recommended Use a steady bitrate and test it on your actual upload connection.
Keyframe interval 2 seconds recommended; no more than 4 seconds Set the encoder accordingly, unless its YouTube-specific preset does this automatically.
Stereo audio 44.1 kHz, 128 Kbps Use these as a general starting point for the music feed.
1080p30 H.264 video bitrate 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended Published guidance, not a measured still-image-stream requirement.
1080p30 AV1/H.265 video bitrate 4 Mbps minimum; 10 Mbps recommended Published guidance, not a measured still-image-stream requirement.

Enter the YouTube destination

  1. In the encoder, select the YouTube or custom RTMP/RTMPS service option supported by your software or hardware.
  2. Paste the server URL from Live Control Room and enter the stream key in the key field.
  3. Select the video and audio sources, confirm the static image is visible, and verify that the music is audible at a sensible level without clipping.
  4. Prefer RTMPS when your encoder supports it; YouTube recommends encrypted ingestion.
  5. Run an upload-speed test and confirm the connection can sustain the configured bitrate. A speed test is a point-in-time check, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.

When HLS may make sense

YouTube also supports HLS ingestion. Its HLS workflow uses HTTPS URLs, TS segments, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and segment durations of 1–4 seconds; YouTube notes that HLS has higher latency than RTMP. OBS is among the encoders YouTube lists as supporting HLS output. For a basic study radio stream, use HLS only if your encoder or codec workflow calls for it; otherwise RTMP/RTMPS is the more straightforward route. Read YouTube’s HLS ingestion requirements.

Seagate Portable 5TB External Hard Drive HDD – USB 3.0 for PC, Mac, PS4, & Xbox - 1-Year Rescue Service (STGX5000400), Black
  • Easily store and access 5TB of content on the go with the Seagate portable drive, a USB external hard Drive
  • Designed to work with Windows or Mac computers, this external hard drive makes backup a snap just drag and drop
  • To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition software required
  • This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
  • The available storage capacity may vary.

5. Test the stream, then launch

  1. Start the encoder while the YouTube event is still private or unlisted.
  2. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room preview. Check the image, audio, stream health, and event settings.
  3. Test representative playback, including a transition between tracks if you use a playlist. Confirm that audio does not unexpectedly stop and the image remains on screen.
  4. Use the preview and stream-health indicators to fix warnings before launch. YouTube advises: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
  5. When ready, start the event in YouTube Studio if the workflow requires it, then set the event visibility as intended. Keep monitoring stream health and audio/video quality after launch.
  6. If you use a local archive, check that its file is growing as expected. Archive-file growth is a useful local check, but it does not establish that viewers can receive the YouTube stream.

A test catches setup errors but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation. A 24/7 stream still depends on the encoder device, power, playback software, network, and YouTube’s ingestion and service.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

6. Clear music and image rights before broadcasting

YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the creator to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights involving artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. The terms state: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read YouTube’s terms.

Before using a track, check the actual license for the sound recording and the underlying composition. Confirm whether it covers continuous live broadcast, the territories where your channel is available, archived playback, and monetization if relevant. Attribution alone is not proof of permission, and a library track or permission to upload a video is not necessarily licensed for a continuous live stream.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. It may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt or terminate the stream, and apply claims to an archived stream after the event. YouTube says that even licensed material may be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel; ask the rights owner about allowlisting when required. See YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

Encoder options: software or hardware

YouTube supports both software encoders and standalone hardware encoders. The right choice depends on your setup; YouTube does not rank them for 24/7 reliability.

Route What to consider for a continuous stream
Software encoder on a computer Can be a straightforward way to configure scenes, audio, and a still image. The computer, operating system, playback software, power, and network must remain available, and you should plan how you will monitor errors and recover after interruptions.
Standalone hardware encoder Can send the feed without relying on a general-purpose computer for encoding, but still needs power, a network connection, compatible inputs, and a recovery and monitoring plan.

Neither route by itself guarantees a live stream around the clock. Choose based on the equipment you already have, your appetite for ongoing maintenance, and how you will detect and respond to a dropped feed.

Troubleshooting common problems

  • Live streaming is not available: Verify the channel and check for a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If you just enabled live streaming for the first time, activation may take up to 24 hours.
  • Live Control Room receives no feed: Check that you copied the correct server URL and stream key, selected the right encoder service, and started the encoder. Re-enter the key privately if necessary; do not expose it publicly.
  • Preview appears, but the event will not start: Review any warnings in Live Control Room, confirm the event’s settings, and make sure the encoder is still sending a stable feed.
  • Video or audio quality is inconsistent: Reduce the configured bitrate or resolution to a level your upload connection can sustain, check for network congestion, and retest the audio/video feed before making the event public.
  • Audio is silent or cuts out between tracks: Confirm the correct audio source is selected and the playlist or playback software is set to continue. Listen to the encoder output during a track transition.
  • YouTube interrupts the stream over music: Check the match or rights notice, confirm the license covers live use and archived playback, and contact the rights owner about channel allowlisting if licensed content is being interrupted.
  • The stream stops after a power or network interruption: Restore the device or connection, then check whether the encoder resumes sending and whether Live Control Room accepts the feed. A test does not remove the need for a plan to monitor and restart a DIY setup.

Or let it run in the cloud

If the aim is a continuous YouTube stream without leaving a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for uploaded videos and playlists. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, not from a camera.

  • Nothing has to stay powered on at home; the stream runs from the cloud.
  • Any quality up to 4K 60fps streams as uploaded at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
  • Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
  • The first day is free with no card required.

Every slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. India-based creators can pay by UPI; cards are accepted in India and worldwide. The same features apply to every plan; only the billing length changes.
