You can use a Raspberry Pi 5 as the encoder for a Hindi music stream that runs continuously on YouTube, but the Pi is only one part of the setup: you also need music licensed for the broadcast, a visual, reliable power and internet, and a way to monitor and recover the stream. YouTube documents its ingest settings and support for continuous streams; the official guidance does not provide a verified Pi 5-specific audio-looping recipe, so treat the configuration below as a practical starting point—not a tested, guaranteed unattended system.
What you need to prepare first
Plan the stream as four connected parts: the music and visual, the Raspberry Pi and its power and cooling, an encoder that sends the program to YouTube, and a monitoring and recovery plan. Decide what will play and what viewers will see before configuring the encoder.

- Music: Use tracks for which you have permission to broadcast publicly on YouTube for the intended territory, duration and monetization status. Owning a recording or finding it online does not establish those rights. Verify the license for every track; no particular Hindi music catalog is established here as cleared for continuous streaming.
- Visual: Prepare a still image or simple animation to accompany the music. A static visual avoids the need for a camera production, but the encoder still needs to send a video signal.
- Hardware and connection: Provide the Pi 5, a suitable USB-C power supply, boot/storage media, cooling and a stable internet connection.
- Operations: Decide who will check stream health, what should happen if the encoder or connection stops, and how you will handle recordings of streams longer than YouTube automatically archives.
Assemble and power the Raspberry Pi 5
Raspberry Pi lists the Pi 5 with a 2.4GHz quad-core 64-bit Arm CPU, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi, a microSD slot, and RAM options from 1GB through 16GB. Those specifications do not establish a minimum RAM requirement for this stream: software choice, transcoding and visual effects all affect demand. The documentation does not establish a specific Pi 5 operating-system and encoder combination for an unattended Hindi music loop.

Install your chosen operating system on suitable boot media and complete its initial setup. Treat storage as a separate requirement unless it is included in your kit.
- Use an appropriate power supply. Raspberry Pi recommends a quality 5V/5A USB-C supply. Its hardware documentation says that a 5A supply permits up to 1.6A of downstream USB current, compared with 600mA on a 3A supply. Choose based on the peripherals you intend to connect; those figures describe USB current limits, not the Pi’s measured power demand while streaming.
- Provide cooling for sustained use. Raspberry Pi notes that active cooling helps under heavy workloads. It is a sensible consideration for a continuously operating device, but there is no temperature test here for this particular workload.
- Connect to the network. Use Gigabit Ethernet if the router is accessible and a wired connection suits the installation; the Pi also supports Wi-Fi. The available specifications confirm both interfaces but do not quantify their reliability for streaming at your site.

Create the YouTube live stream and protect its key
- Enable live streaming in advance. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select a stream. YouTube says first-time live-streaming activation can take up to 24 hours.
- Copy the ingest details. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream into your encoder’s streaming destination settings. YouTube requires the encoder to send to its server URL with the stream key.
- Keep the key private. Do not expose it in a public script, screenshot, repository or video description. Anyone with access to the key could send a feed to the stream.
- Test before publishing. If appropriate, start with a private or unlisted test. Confirm the visual appears, the Hindi music is audible, and YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream before making the event public.

Choose encoder settings and test the upload
YouTube’s current encoder guidance supports RTMP or RTMPS transport, H.264, H.265 or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and constant bitrate (CBR). YouTube recommends RTMPS as the secure extension to RTMP. For a modest static-visual stream, H.264 at 720p30 is a documented starting point; choose 1080p30 if the extra image detail is useful and your upload connection can sustain the higher rate.

The video bitrates are YouTube Help recommendations for the listed H.264 formats, not a guarantee that a particular connection or Pi setup will be stable. The network must have upload capacity beyond the selected stream bitrate so ordinary variation does not consume all available headroom. Test from the actual location and monitor YouTube’s stream health.

- Audio: YouTube recommends 128 Kbps stereo at 44.1 kHz. Use AAC or MP3 as supported by your encoder.
- Transport: Use the server URL and key provided by YouTube. Choose RTMPS if your encoder supports it.
- Test representative content: YouTube recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the actual program. Check that the music remains audible and the visual behaves as intended.
See YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions for its guidance. These recommendations do not supply a verified FFmpeg or GStreamer command, audio-loop configuration or watchdog service for a Pi 5; do not treat an unvalidated command as a reliable 24/7 solution.

Plan for interruptions and YouTube archives
Continuous operation depends on more than encoder settings: power, the network, the music source, the running process and YouTube account or platform state can all affect whether viewers see the stream. No uptime guarantee follows from the hardware specifications or encoder recommendations. Arrange for someone to monitor stream health and decide how the encoder will be restarted or the stream resumed if it stops; validate any automated recovery setup on the exact operating system and software you use.
YouTube documents continuous 24/7 streams, but says only streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume one uninterrupted, longer-than-12-hour stream will produce a complete automatic recording. Plan an archive workflow for your needs and check YouTube’s current behavior for the stream format you use. You can also schedule periodic stream endings, with the trade-off that viewers may experience interruptions.
