Short answer: YouTube Studio can schedule a future encoder-based live event, but its documented auto-start and auto-stop controls do not create a recurring restart schedule or guarantee that a failed 24/7 stream will relaunch. For a prerecorded Punjabi music playlist that must loop without a computer running at home, use a cloud streaming service built for that purpose. For a do-it-yourself setup, schedule the event in YouTube Studio, send it from an encoder, and arrange separate monitoring and recovery.
This guide distinguishes three different goals: starting one stream at a chosen time, keeping one broadcast live continuously, and stopping and starting new events on a recurring schedule. The native YouTube steps below cover the first; they are not proof of the latter two.

What YouTube scheduling can—and cannot—do
YouTube’s scheduled encoder workflow lets you create a live event in advance, connect an encoder with the event’s stream URL and key, and start the encoder when the event is due. Subscribers may see a scheduled stream as upcoming and opt into reminders. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains this workflow.

YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings let creators start or stop streaming from the encoder. The documented controls do not say that they repeatedly relaunch an event on a schedule or restart a feed after every failure. Treat them as encoder controls, not as a 24/7 recovery system. YouTube’s stream settings documentation describes those options.

- One future start: Schedule an event in YouTube Studio and start your encoder at the planned time.
- One continuous broadcast: Keep a source feed and encoder running, or use a cloud service that plays and loops uploaded media.
- Recurring starts or recovery after failure: The cited YouTube controls do not establish a recurring restart scheduler. You need a separate process or service to monitor and resume the stream.
Option 1: Keep a prerecorded stream running in the cloud

For a Punjabi music channel, cloud playback avoids leaving a local streaming computer on for the whole broadcast. It does not clear the music rights, guarantee a particular audience, or remove the need to check stream status and plan how you will handle recordings and archives.
Option 2: Schedule a YouTube event and run it with an encoder
1. Prepare recordings and confirm rights
Make a playlist of recordings you own or are authorized to stream and, if applicable, monetize. Permission to use a stream key, schedule an event, or use a cloud service does not grant rights to the music. Keep track of the rights that apply to each recording, including any limits on territories, duration, monetization, or live use.

Prepare the videos in the format you intend to send. Choose output resolution and bitrate that your encoder and sustained upload connection can handle. YouTube recommends testing with content similar to the planned stream and checking the preview and stream health before going live. Its recommended encoder settings explain bitrate and quality choices; use those recommendations for your chosen resolution and frame rate rather than setting a bitrate your connection cannot sustain.
2. Create and schedule the event
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live, then open Manage.
- Select Schedule stream. Create a new event or reuse settings from a previous one.
- Set the event details and scheduled time. If you reuse settings, check every copied option: YouTube says this also copies the previous event’s auto-start and auto-stop choices.
- In Live Control Room, copy the event’s stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s server and stream-key fields. Keep the key private; reset it in Live Control Room if it is exposed.
If the encoder supports RTMPS, YouTube recommends its encrypted RTMP option. Copy the RTMPS URL from Live Control Room into the encoder rather than sharing the stream key. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance and RTMPS instructions.

3. Start the encoder and go live
- Start the encoder at the planned time and confirm that it is sending the intended playlist and audio.
- Wait for the preview to appear in Live Control Room. Check the image, sound, and stream health.
- For the scheduled-event workflow described by YouTube, select Go live in Live Control Room when the preview is ready.
- Keep the encoder and source available for as long as this feed is expected to run. If either stops, the scheduled event’s existence does not itself restart the source.
Test the complete path before relying on it: the playlist, encoder output, connection, preview, and any backup encoder you intend to use. YouTube recommends beginning setup in advance and testing failover where there is a backup encoder. A 24/7 plan also needs someone or something to notice an interruption and resume the source.
What to plan for a real 24/7 broadcast
Recovery and monitoring
A scheduled start is not the same as automatic recovery. Decide who will detect a dropped feed, how the source will be restarted, and whether a backup encoder or cloud playback is available. Do not assume enabling auto-start and auto-stop answers those questions; YouTube’s cited settings documentation does not establish that they relaunch a failed 24/7 feed.

Quality and connection
Set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate in the encoder to match the media and the upload connection you can sustain continuously. Confirm the result in YouTube’s preview and stream-health indicators before the broadcast. Avoid increasing quality beyond the capacity of the connection: interruptions or unstable delivery can be worse than a lower, consistent setting. Consult YouTube’s encoder recommendations for the specific output profile.
Archives and recordings
YouTube Help states: “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That is the documented threshold; do not count on a single 24/7 event being automatically archived as one complete replay. If a complete recording matters, plan separate recording and archive handling. YouTube’s encoder help page contains the archive guidance.

Cost and practical trade-offs
A do-it-yourself encoder approach uses your own computer and connection for the broadcast, so consider the cost and operational burden of keeping them available and monitoring interruptions. A cloud service shifts playback to its servers; compare current plan terms, supported media and quality, scheduling, recovery behavior, storage, and archive options before choosing. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to get started, so a dedicated streaming PC is not automatically necessary.

Troubleshooting common setup problems
- The scheduled stream is not receiving video: Check that the encoder uses the URL and stream key for the correct event, then verify that it is actively sending. Re-copy the key from Live Control Room if necessary.
- The preview appears but the event is not live: Follow the scheduled-event flow and select Go live in Live Control Room once the preview is ready.
- The broadcast stops and does not resume: A scheduled event and auto-start/auto-stop do not establish recurring recovery. Restart the encoder/source yourself or use a process or cloud service that monitors and resumes playback.
- Video or audio is unstable: Test the full stream and check stream health. Reduce output demands to a profile the upload connection can sustain, using YouTube’s encoder recommendations.
- The stream key may be exposed: Treat it as a credential. Reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder before sending again.
- The replay is incomplete or missing: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a complete archive guarantee for a single 24/7 event. Use a separate recording/archive plan if completeness matters.
- Music is claimed or removed: A technical setup does not provide rights. Check that each recording is authorized for the intended live use and monetization, and resolve rights issues with the relevant rights holder or platform process.
