To save a webpage as a PDF without missing lazy-loaded images, scroll through the page first so images have a chance to load, then use your browser’s Print dialog and choose Save as PDF. Check the preview—especially image-heavy sections—before saving. Scrolling helps, but it cannot guarantee every image will appear on every site.
Why lazy-loaded images can be missing
Some webpages defer fetching images until they are needed in or near the visible part of the page. MDN notes that lazy-loaded images may not be available when the page’s load event fires, so a page that appears to have finished loading may still have images waiting to load. Scrolling brings more content into view and gives the browser an opportunity to request those images. This is a practical first step, not a guarantee: scripts, embedded frames, access controls, and network requests can affect what appears. The PDF preview is the check that matters.
Save the webpage as a PDF in your browser
- Open the page and scroll through its full length. Pause at image-heavy sections to give deferred images time to load. If the page reveals content only after interaction, complete that interaction before printing.
- Open Print. In Firefox, open the browser menu and choose Print. In Chrome, open the three-dot menu and choose Print. The labels or menu locations may differ in other browsers or versions.
- Select the PDF destination. In Firefox, choose Save to PDF; in Chrome, choose Save as PDF in the destination selector. Firefox’s print guidance and Chrome Help describe their respective workflows.
- Inspect the preview before saving. Check that the images you need appear, along with headings and other key content. Review page breaks, orientation, margins, and background graphics if those controls are available.
- Save only after checking the relevant pages. If an image is absent, cancel the save, return to the page, scroll to that section again, wait, and reopen Print.
Check the PDF and fix missing images
Look at the output, not just the page-load indicator
A completed page load does not prove that deferred images have loaded. In the PDF preview, check the sections where images are important; after saving, open the PDF and verify those pages too. Browser print output can differ from the screen layout because websites may use a different layout for paper. If content is missing or rearranged, try changing available print settings such as orientation or margins, then inspect the preview again.

If images still do not appear
- Return to the page, scroll until the missing image area is visible, and wait before printing again.
- If the page uses embedded content or interactions, confirm that it has loaded or been revealed before opening Print.
- Try a full-page capture extension if the browser’s print workflow does not handle the page. Read its listing and permissions, and verify the resulting PDF; advertised support is not a guarantee for a particular site.

Use Headless Chrome for a scripted PDF
Chrome’s headless command-line reference documents --print-to-pdf for saving a target page as a PDF. For example:
chrome --headless --print-to-pdf="page.pdf" "https://example.com"Replace the URL with the page you need and use the Chrome executable available on your system. The documented --timeout option sets the maximum wait before capture proceeds, even if the page is still loading. A longer timeout may give content more time, but it does not establish that every lazy-loaded image is ready. See the Headless Chrome command-line reference for the command options.

Consider a full-page capture extension
The Chrome Web Store listing for PrintFriendly: Print, PDF Editor & Full Page Screenshot advertises automatic scrolling and handling for dynamic content, lazy-loaded images, iframes, and complex layouts. Those are vendor-listing claims, not independent test results or a promise that it will work on every page. Review its permissions and privacy details before installing, then check the captured output.

For a single page, start with browser printing after scrolling, then confirm the images in the preview and saved PDF. Use Headless Chrome when you need a repeatable command-line workflow, or consider a full-page extension if the page requires scrolling or dynamic-content handling. Whichever method you choose, judge it by whether the images and content you need are actually present and whether the PDF’s text and layout suit your use.
