Convert a webpage to PDF in Microsoft Edge
- Open the URL in Microsoft Edge.
- Press Ctrl+P, or select Settings and more > Print.
- Review the preview and select the available PDF destination. If needed, use the system print dialog; the destination wording can vary with Edge and Windows print choices.
- Adjust the page range, margins, scale, headers and footers, or background graphics as needed.
- Select Print or the equivalent save control, choose where to store the file, and save it as a PDF.
For a more text-focused version of an eligible page, try Edge’s Immersive Reader before printing. Microsoft notes that this feature is not available on every website. Microsoft’s Edge print instructions describe the print controls and this reading-view option.

Convert a webpage to PDF in Google Chrome
- Open the webpage in Chrome on your Windows computer.
- Press Ctrl+P to open print preview.
- In the destination menu, choose Save as PDF.
- Check the preview, then select Save, choose a folder and save the PDF.

Check readability before saving
A webpage is designed for a changing screen, not fixed sheets of paper. Inspect the preview before saving, especially for long articles, pages with sidebars, and pages where color or images carry meaning.

- Page breaks: Look for headings separated from their paragraphs or tables split awkwardly across pages.
- Scale and margins: Adjust them if text or wide content is clipped, or if the page has excessive blank space.
- Headers and footers: Turn them on when printed page numbers or page details are useful; turn them off if they add clutter.
- Background graphics: Enable them when the preview omits meaningful colors or backgrounds. Edge’s print options include this control.
- Page range: Choose specific pages when you need only part of a long document.
Edge’s available print controls are documented by Microsoft Support. A clutter-free reading view is not a universal print-dialog option; Immersive Reader is one possible workaround where the site supports it.

Troubleshoot a failed or poor PDF
The print preview is blank or will not load
Retry the print preview and restart Edge if it remains unavailable. Test printing a different website or online document: if that works, the original page may be the source of the problem, such as a page style that interferes with printing. Where available, try Immersive Reader. Microsoft’s Edge print troubleshooting guide also identifies the page or document, Edge, printer driver, Windows, and connectivity or hardware as possible sources of issues.

The PDF is missing images, colors, or page content
Check the preview and try enabling background graphics in Edge if the output does not match the page. Adjust scale or margins if content is clipped. If the page offers an eligible reading view, Edge Immersive Reader may simplify the content, though Microsoft does not say it is available on every site.
You cannot find a PDF destination
Check the destination menu in the browser preview and, in Edge, try the system print dialog. Destination names and choices depend on the browser version and system print configuration. Chrome’s documented route is to select Save as PDF in print preview.

For a straightforward PDF, either browser’s print workflow is suitable. Choose Edge when its documented layout controls or eligible Immersive Reader view fit the page; choose Chrome when you want the clearly documented Save as PDF destination.
