For screenshot-only workloads, compare Browserless with ScreenshotNeo, ScreenshotOne and Urlbox using your real monthly volume and each provider’s billable-use rules—not just the headline quota. Browserless is a broader browser-automation service whose plans use units tied to browser sessions and time. Screenshot-focused APIs may be easier to budget when each successful capture maps more directly to a quota, but their overage and feature rules differ. All prices below are vendor-listed USD prices; India-specific checkout currency, taxes, conversion charges and regional availability were not verified.
Which Browserless alternative should you try first?
ScreenshotNeo is the first alternative to try for screenshot-only work: it bills only clean shots, identifies outcomes in response headers, and its paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Its free plan includes 1,000 shots per month without a card. Whether it is less expensive for your workload still depends on what counts as a clean shot and the volume and capture options you need.

For a short, evidence-backed shortlist beyond ScreenshotNeo, compare ScreenshotOne and Urlbox. Keep Browserless in the running when the task needs browser interaction, script injection or broader browser control rather than just a rendered image or PDF. No independent performance or reliability tests establish a universal winner.

Browserless documents a direct screenshot REST endpoint, but the service also targets browser automation. Its plans use units associated with browser sessions and time, so the number of screenshots alone does not tell you the likely bill. Browserless lists a Free plan with 1,000 units per month and a Prototyping plan at $25 per month billed annually for 20,000 units. Check the current unit definition and estimate against representative runs before comparing it with per-capture plans. Browserless pricing

Browserless’s screenshot endpoint accepts a URL and options and returns image bytes. Its documentation also covers inline HTML, full-page capture, element selectors, and injected scripts or styles; it says not to send html and url together. Browserless screenshot API documentation

| ScreenshotOne | Free: 100 screenshots per month. Basic: $17 per month for 2,000 screenshots; each extra successful request is listed at $0.009. | Basic lists full-page and HTML rendering, PNG/WebP/JPEG, PDF, caching, S3 upload, webhooks and signed links. Successful renders not served from cache count toward quota; visual issues still count. Prices exclude VAT. |
| Urlbox | Lo-Fi: $19 per month for 2,000 renders; Hi-Fi: $49 per month for up to 5,000; Ultra: $99 per month for up to 15,000. | Failed requests are not billed, but usage can increase with request duration, file size and advanced features. Figures are vendor-listed USD prices and quotas; they are not INR quotes. ScreenshotOne’s and Urlbox’s pages state VAT exclusions. This comparison does not establish Indian GST treatment, checkout currency, payment-conversion costs or India-region infrastructure. Browserless lists San Francisco, London and Amsterdam endpoints for its Free tier; that listing alone does not establish the full regional availability or data-residency picture. Choose by workload, not by headline price
Mostly URL-to-image or URL-to-PDF
Start with a screenshot-focused service and compare its included quota, cache behavior, failure billing, output formats and overage price against your expected successful captures. ScreenshotOne lists a per-extra-successful-request price on Basic; its quota FAQ says successful renders not served from cache count, and visual problems still count. Urlbox states failed requests are not billed, while duration, output size and advanced options may use additional renders. ScreenshotNeo’s billing rule is different: only clean shots are billed, and its responses say whether the page was clean and billed.

Browser interaction, injected code or broader automation
Browserless may be worth retaining when you need browser control beyond a simple capture. Its screenshot documentation covers selectors and custom script or style injection, alongside full-page screenshots. Account for the browser-session/time units and the value of that control rather than comparing only the number of image files produced.
More providers to investigate
Browserless’s September 4, 2026 comparison names ApiFlash, ScrapingBee and Scrapfly as alternatives. That comparison is vendor-authored, and their official plan pages and feature details were not verified here. How to estimate a realistic monthly cost
- Count the work. Estimate monthly requested captures, expected successful captures, PDFs or other outputs, and whether cache hits will be common.
- Identify what consumes quota. Browserless uses session/time-related units; ScreenshotOne counts successful renders not served from cache; Urlbox usage can vary with time, file size and advanced options. ScreenshotNeo bills clean shots and exposes verdict and billing headers.
- Include failures and overages. Apply each provider’s stated rules to blocked, blank, timed-out, cached or visually imperfect results. Do not assume that a failed request is free unless the provider’s terms say so.
- Test representative permitted pages. Use the exact page types your application needs, record success or failure and render time, then compare the usage shown in each account’s billing dashboard. No provider’s success on one page guarantees success on another.
- Check the final checkout amount. The listed amounts here are USD. Confirm applicable taxes, currency conversion, payment fees and availability for your account in India rather than treating a currency conversion as the provider’s INR price.
Blocked pages and capture reliability
Browserless warns that automation blocking can yield blank screenshots, CAPTCHA challenges, access-denied pages or missing content. Its documentation describes a separate unblock API and residential proxies for some cases. ScreenshotOne lists “stealth mode” on its plans, while Urlbox describes Ultra as a tier for screenshots without getting blocked. Those are vendor feature descriptions, not proof that any service will pass a particular site’s protections. Test only pages you are permitted to access, and do not plan on bypassing a site’s controls based on a marketing label. Browserless troubleshooting and screenshot documentation

Record more than whether an image was returned
- Check whether the expected page content is present, not merely whether the response contains image bytes.
- Track blank pages, access-denied screens, CAPTCHA challenges, missing elements and timeouts separately.
- Compare billed usage with useful captures; billing rules differ, and a visual defect can still count on a provider’s plan.
- Retest after changes to the target site, required capture options or provider configuration.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo takes a URL in one GET request and can return PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Its API accepts options for full-page capture, element selection, output format and other capture controls; see the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.

Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing outcome. Assuming one Browserless unit equals one screenshot
The published plan model is in units tied to browser sessions and time. Confirm the current unit definition and measure actual use; do not derive a capture count from the plan quota alone.
Assuming a visual defect means a free request
ScreenshotOne’s pricing FAQ says visual issues still count toward quota. Urlbox says failed requests are not billed, but its render consumption can vary with request duration, file size and features. ScreenshotNeo says blank pages and failed loads are not billed. Keep those distinctions in your cost model.

Sending URL and HTML to Browserless together
Browserless’s screenshot documentation says html and url should not be sent together. Choose the input mode appropriate to the capture rather than including both.
Assuming a vendor can get through every bot check
CAPTCHAs, access denials and blank output are possible. A feature label such as “stealth” or “without getting blocked” does not establish that a particular protected target will work. Test permitted target pages and inspect the actual output.
Turning USD list prices into guaranteed rupee costs
Checkout currency, applicable taxes and payment conversion can change the amount charged. The published prices above are not India-specific quotes, so verify the total in the provider’s checkout flow.

FAQ
Are ScreenshotOne and Urlbox direct replacements for Browserless?
They can serve URL-to-image or PDF workflows, but they are not identical products. Browserless also targets browser automation, while screenshot-focused providers expose their own capture options and billing rules. Choose based on the control and outputs your application actually needs.
Does the comparison establish which service is fastest?
No. It contains no independent speed or reliability tests. Measure render time and successful output on representative pages in your own permitted workload.
