That creates a PDF, but Mozilla does not promise that every webpage font will be embedded. If embedding is a strict requirement, inspect the saved file rather than assuming the export setting guarantees it.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox
- Open the webpage you want to save.
- Choose Menu → Print… to open Firefox’s print preview. You can also use the browser’s print command.
- Set Destination to Save to PDF.
- Check the preview. Adjust available settings such as orientation, page range, color mode, paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, and print backgrounds.
- Choose Print, select where to save the file, and save it.
Web pages can be laid out differently for paper than they are on screen, so use the preview to check page breaks, clipped content, and background elements before saving. Some print controls depend on your operating system or destination. Mozilla’s print instructions describe the built-in workflow and available controls.

Does Firefox embed the webpage’s fonts?
Not necessarily. Choosing Save to PDF is the built-in export route; Mozilla’s instructions do not guarantee that every font used by a page will be embedded in every PDF. A PDF may look right on your computer while still relying on fonts not included in the file, and font embedding is a separate question from whether text remains selectable or searchable.
Reports in Mozilla Bugzilla concern particular configurations rather than establishing a general rule for current Firefox releases. One historical report involved Firefox 64 and downloadable fonts printed through third-party PDF printer software; it does not establish how Firefox’s built-in PDF export behaves today. A separate report describes a specific system-font text problem on Linux with Firefox 155. Neither report proves that all fonts, versions, or platforms are affected. The Firefox 64 report and the Linux report are issue-specific.

How to verify the saved PDF
- Open the PDF in a reader or a font-inspection tool that can show whether fonts are embedded.
- Check the document’s font information and confirm that the relevant fonts are marked embedded or embedded subsets, where applicable.
- Test whether the text can be selected, copied, and found with search if those functions matter for your use case. Correct appearance alone does not establish that text extraction works.
- If the result does not meet your requirements, try another available print route, save a second PDF, and inspect that file too. Do not assume an alternate printer or extension will fix every font issue.
A Firefox Bugzilla report about ligature characters in PDF text mapping concerns text extraction and searchability; it is not evidence that fonts are not embedded. See the ligature-mapping issue for that distinct problem.
What to try if the PDF is wrong
- Pages look cut off or rearranged: revisit Firefox’s print preview and check paper size, orientation, scale, margins, page range, and backgrounds. Web layouts may differ in print view.
- A font is missing or substituted: inspect the PDF’s font information. Firefox’s save destination does not guarantee universal font embedding; try a different print route and verify the new file.
- Text looks fine but cannot be found or copied: test text selection and search separately from visual appearance. Font embedding does not, by itself, establish correct text mapping.
- A platform printer produces different output: treat it as an alternative to compare, not a guaranteed fix. Results may depend on the operating system, printer route, page, and fonts involved.
- You are considering a PDF extension: check that it supports your operating system and review its permissions and trustworthiness before granting access to pages. The available evidence does not establish that a particular extension is better for font embedding.

Can I tell from the PDF’s appearance whether its fonts are embedded?
No. A PDF can look correct without embedding the font data. Check the file’s font information in a PDF reader or inspection tool.
Does a font-embedding check also confirm that PDF text is searchable?
