To stop a long HTML page from being clipped in PDFCrowd, first check its content-fitting mode: no-scaling can leave content beyond page boundaries, while auto, smart-scaling, viewport-width, and content-width offer different ways to fit oversized content. If content is missing because it loads lazily, review content_viewport_height. If you need one continuous tall page rather than ordinary printed pages, set page_height=-1. The right fix depends on whether the problem is width, lazy loading, page breaks, or usable page area.
First identify what is being cut off
Check the PDF against the source HTML and identify the failure before changing settings. Text clipped at the right or bottom edge of each PDF page points toward fitting or page-area settings. Sections absent entirely may not have loaded before conversion. Awkward splits between sections or rows are often a pagination issue. These problems have different remedies; no single mode guarantees a clean result for every page.

- Content extends beyond the page edge: inspect
content_fit_mode. - Content is missing from the PDF: check whether it is lazy-loaded and review
content_viewport_height. - You want one continuous page: use the single-page height option rather than ordinary pagination.
- Sections or tables split badly, or headers overlap content: review page-break CSS, margins, and header and footer dimensions.
Fit oversized content on ordinary PDF pages
PDFCrowd’s HTTP API and command-line references document several content_fit_mode choices. The best fit depends on the page and the desired output. In particular, avoid assuming that no-scaling will prevent clipping: PDFCrowd warns that content extending beyond page boundaries can be cut off in that mode. See the HTTP API reference and command-line reference for the interface you use.

For a layout wider than the printable area, compare the width-fitting options rather than starting with no scaling. For content oversized in other ways, try the documented automatic or smart-scaling behavior, then inspect the resulting PDF. Scaling can change how large text and other elements appear, so check readability as well as whether the edges are visible.

Load content that appears late
Pages that load images or other content as a reader scrolls may not expose everything during conversion. PDFCrowd documents content_viewport_height for controlling the content viewport used for this situation. Its HTTP API reference says auto uses the print-area height and is sufficient for most pages; for extensive lazy-loaded content, it suggests using large or a custom numerical height. The references give 10000px in an HTTP API example and 5000px in a command-line example. These are examples, not universal settings. Increase the height as appropriate for the page and verify that the missing content appears in the output.
Parameter availability is versioned. PDFCrowd’s command-line reference says content_fit_mode and content_viewport_height require API client version 6.0 or later and converter version 24.04 or later. Check the reference for your client and installed converter before troubleshooting a parameter that is unavailable to your setup.

Choose between normal pages and one continuous tall page
A conventional paginated PDF breaks content across pages for reading or printing. A continuous-page PDF instead places the content on one unusually tall page. If that is specifically what you want, PDFCrowd documents page_height=-1 to expand the page vertically to fit the content. It gives 200 inches as the safe maximum because some PDF viewers may fail to open larger pages. A single tall page is not the default choice for a document meant to be printed or read page by page.

If you can edit the source HTML or conversion CSS, use page-break rules to manage where sections and tables split. PDFCrowd’s HTML to PDF HTTP API Code Examples show a forced break before a section and a rule to avoid breaking table rows across pages. The same examples caution: “Content taller than a page still needs to break.”

Avoid applying page-break-inside: avoid indiscriminately to blocks that may be taller than a page. If a block cannot fit, preventing its contents from breaking cannot make it fit; it can instead create poor pagination. PDFCrowd also documents the .pdfcrowd-body prefix for conversion-specific CSS. Its examples say this prefix does not change the page in a visitor’s browser.
Check margins and available page area
The space available for content depends on the page size, margins, and header and footer heights. If content is clipped or overlaps a header or footer despite an appropriate fitting mode, review those dimensions and the remaining content area. PDFCrowd’s FAQ also shows how to suppress default html and body margins and padding when source-page spacing is contributing to the problem. Change only the spacing that is responsible; removing all margins may make a printed document harder to read.

Troubleshoot a clipped or incomplete PDF
