You don’t pair a Logitech Crayon with an iPad. Slide the power button on and start writing. Logitech’s support guidance says: “Simply power Crayon on and you are ready to go. No pairing with iPad required.” The one step that can matter is disconnecting an Apple Pencil that was previously used with the same iPad.
Step-by-step setup
- Check that your iPad is supported. Logitech lists iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad models from 2018 onward. Crayon does not work with phones, non-iPad tablets, or older unsupported iPads.
- Remove any Apple Pencil connection (only if you used one). Open Settings > Bluetooth, select the Apple Pencil, and choose Forget This Device. If you’d rather keep another digital pencil paired, Logitech’s troubleshooting page says you can temporarily turn Bluetooth off instead.
- Turn the Crayon on. Slide the power button. A green LED means it’s ready; a red LED means it needs charging first.
- Write or draw. Open a note-taking or drawing app that supports Apple Pencil. Logitech says Crayon works with almost all of them and needs no extra app installed.
Why there’s no Bluetooth pairing
Unlike many styluses, Crayon doesn’t appear as a Bluetooth accessory you connect. This is why an Apple Pencil connection is the main thing that can get in the way: a previously connected digital pencil may interfere, which is why Logitech advises forgetting it or switching Bluetooth off.

If the Crayon isn’t writing
- Power and charge: Confirm it’s switched on and charged.
- Model check: Re-verify your iPad is a 2018-or-later model in a supported line.
- Software: Logitech’s troubleshooting article gives iOS 11.4 or later as the requirement, while another Logitech support article recommends updating to the latest iPadOS. Updating is the safer course.
- Other pencils: Forget any previously connected digital pencil, or turn Bluetooth off briefly.
- Tip: Make sure the tip is screwed on tightly.
