You can play Amazon Luna with a compatible third-party controller or the Amazon Luna Controller; the dedicated Luna Controller is optional. Connect a compatible gamepad to your device over Bluetooth or a USB cable that supports data, open Luna in its app or a compatible browser, and start a game. For Amazon’s controller, you can also use its app-assisted setup and Cloud Direct connection.
Choose a controller and connection method
Amazon’s guidance is to “Connect a compatible controller to play games on Luna.” Compatibility depends on both the controller and the device running Luna, so check Amazon’s controller and device compatibility information for your setup rather than assuming every Bluetooth gamepad will work. Computer players can also use a keyboard and mouse.

Amazon’s UK guidance also says the Luna Controller supports offline gameplay on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS, but offline play over USB or Bluetooth on iOS below version 16 is unsupported. These statements describe the terms on Amazon’s guidance and can change.

Connect a compatible third-party controller
- Put the controller in pairing mode using that controller’s own instructions, or connect it with a USB cable that supports data.
- Pair or connect it to the device you will use for Luna. If Bluetooth pairing does not work, verify that Amazon lists both your controller and device as compatible.
- Open Amazon Luna in the Luna app or a compatible browser.
- Select a game and begin playing.
Use a third-party controller with Cloud Direct
Amazon documents an app-assisted Cloud Direct route for compatible third-party controllers. Open Luna on a compatible device or browser, then open the Luna Controller app on a mobile device. Connect the third-party controller to that mobile device over Bluetooth or USB, and choose “Launch” under “Connect non-Luna Controllers.” Wait for the connection to complete, then start a game. Set up the Amazon Luna Controller
Amazon’s setup guide lists an Amazon account, the Luna Controller, two AA batteries, and a mobile device with the Luna Controller app as requirements. Follow the app prompts to connect the controller to your account; Amazon recommends Wi-Fi account setup for the best results with Cloud Direct.
- Install the Luna Controller app on a mobile device and have your Amazon account credentials ready.
- Insert two AA batteries into the Luna Controller.
- Hold Home for about three seconds. Wait until the Home light circles orange, then allow about 30 seconds for setup to proceed.
- Sign in to the app and choose “Set up New Luna Controller.” Follow the prompts to finish connecting it to your account.
A compatible Echo or Fire TV device may try to connect to Wi-Fi automatically during setup. Amazon’s full Luna Controller setup guide covers the app-led process.

Pair the Luna Controller over Bluetooth
- Turn on Bluetooth on the phone, computer, or TV, and make sure the device is discoverable to new accessories.
- Turn on the Luna Controller, then hold Action + B for about three seconds.
- When the controller’s indicator blinks white, select it in the device’s Bluetooth pairing interface.
- Amazon’s pairing guide says the device should support Bluetooth 5.0. For Bluetooth on a Windows PC, install Amazon’s Luna Controller driver.

- Confirm compatibility. Check that Amazon supports both the controller and the device you are trying to connect it to.
- Make the device discoverable. Switch Bluetooth on and set the phone, computer, or TV to discover new devices.
- Re-enter pairing mode. On the Luna Controller, hold Action + B for about three seconds until the light blinks white, then try selecting it from the device’s Bluetooth interface.
- Reset and pair again. Amazon’s setup guide identifies holding Home + Menu for six seconds as the factory-reset action. After resetting, repeat Bluetooth pairing.
- On Windows, install Amazon’s controller driver. Amazon notes that a missing driver can cause button-mapping issues.
- Try another supported connection. If available for your controller and device, use Cloud Direct after app setup or connect by Bluetooth or data-capable USB-C.
- Escalate unresolved setup or Wi-Fi errors. Use Amazon’s Bluetooth troubleshooting guidance or setup guide; Amazon directs users to customer service for other setup problems.
