Event dates, clock rules and prerequisites
Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises is available from October 17, 2026, at 05:00 until November 1, 2026, at 04:59 on the Nintendo Switch 2’s local clock. The date and time are local rather than a single worldwide UTC cutoff. The same window is reported by the iTechGuides Team in its 2026 event listing.

Because the event checks the console clock, make sure the Switch 2 is showing the correct local date and time. Launch Pokémon Pokopia online once after the event should be active so the game can receive the event state. If Pumpkaboo still does not appear, travel to another town and return. Quitting to the title screen and restarting the game is the other recommended refresh.
Save-file requirements
Your save must meet all of these conditions before Pumpkaboo can be found:
#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
- Pokémon Pokopia must be updated to version 2.0.1.
- The town’s important request must be complete.
- The town must have a rebuilt Pokémon Center.
- Zorua’s Camouflage ability must have been learned at Bleak Beach.
Camouflage is not an optional convenience for this event. It is the mechanic used to generate Pumpkin Candy, so unlock it before trying to farm the currency.
How to start Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises
- Confirm that the save requirements and version 2.0.1 update are in place.
- Set the Switch 2 clock to the correct local time and launch the game online once.
- Travel to the Withered Wasteland Pokémon Center.
- Talk to Pumpkaboo waiting outside the center.
- Accept the candy request and befriend Pumpkaboo.
If the center is available but Pumpkaboo is missing, do not rebuild the town or repeat unrelated requests first. Move to another town and come back, then restart the game if necessary. Those steps refresh the event encounter without changing the event’s deadline.
Farm Pumpkin Candy with the Camouflage loop
Each successful scare awards one to three Pumpkin Candy. The efficient method is to turn Ditto into an object that nearby Pokémon like, wait for the game to acknowledge the disguise, and then cancel Camouflage at the right moment.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Exact farming procedure
- Find a dense habitat with several Pokémon close together. A crowded area gives you more possible reactions without long walks.
- Activate Camouflage and transform Ditto into furniture or a toy that nearby Pokémon like.
- Walk into a Pokémon’s line of sight while remaining disguised.
- Wait for a speech bubble that names the object you became. This bubble confirms that the Pokémon has noticed and accepted the disguise.
- Cancel the transformation only after that speech bubble appears. The Pokémon is scared and drops one to three Pumpkin Candy.
- Move to the next resident and repeat the process. Work through the habitat one Pokémon at a time.
Canceling too early is the most common mistake: without the object-naming speech bubble, the encounter may not count and no candy will appear. A Pokémon that is currently talking with another Pokémon may also fail to react; choose a resident that is free, or wait until the conversation ends.

Choose objects that produce reactions
Furniture and toys are the best disguises for this loop. Trees, flowers, bushes and building blocks can work less consistently and generally produce fewer reactions. Place or use responsive furniture in a dense habitat, then keep your route short so each scare leads directly to another target.
Manage the repeat timer
The same Pokémon can be scared again after roughly eight minutes. Do not stand beside one resident waiting for an immediate second drop. Continue around the habitat, switch to another dense area, or spend the interval arranging the objects needed for a habitat. Returning after the approximate timer has passed lets you use that Pokémon again.
Why a run can feel slow
- No bubble: you are outside the Pokémon’s line of sight, the object is not appealing to that species, or the Pokémon is occupied talking with another.
- No candy: the transformation was canceled before the speech bubble named the disguise.
- Few targets: the habitat is too spread out. Move to a denser population instead of repeatedly crossing empty ground.
- Repeated target unavailable: the roughly eight-minute repeat window has not elapsed.
Every Pumpkin Candy shop reward
The event shop has nine listed items. Together they cost exactly 20 Pumpkin Candy. The table shows the individual price and the role each item plays in the event habitats.
| Item | Cost | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Eerie Statue | 3 Pumpkin Candy | Shop collection; not required for either listed habitat |
| Cofagrigus Locker | 3 Pumpkin Candy | Shop collection; not required for either listed habitat |
| Ghost Smoke Projector | 3 Pumpkin Candy | Give Me Something Good to Eat habitat |
| Candy Bucket | 2 Pumpkin Candy | Give Me Something Good to Eat habitat |
| Trevenant Streetlight | 2 Pumpkin Candy | Creepy Pumpkins habitat |
| Pumpkin Lantern | 2 Pumpkin Candy | Creepy Pumpkins habitat and support for the tower |
| Pumpkin Lantern Tower | 2 Pumpkin Candy | Creepy Pumpkins habitat; must sit on the Pumpkin Lantern |
| Fun Balloons | 2 Pumpkin Candy | Shop collection; not required for either listed habitat |
| Huge Table | 1 Pumpkin Candy | Optional table for the first habitat if you do not already own one |
| Total | 20 Pumpkin Candy | All nine listed items |
The Huge Table is the only one-cost item. It is not mandatory if your town already has any table that satisfies the first habitat’s requirement, but buying it is necessary if you want every shop item and do not already own it.

Build the two event habitats in the right order
The habitats are the event’s Pokémon-attraction requests. Their candy cost depends on whether you already have a table, and the second habitat has a strict stacking requirement.
Give Me Something Good to Eat (#008)
This habitat attracts Pumpkaboo. It requires:
- Any table
- One Candy Bucket
- One Ghost Smoke Projector
The purchasable event pieces cost five candy in total: two for the Candy Bucket and three for the Ghost Smoke Projector. An existing table keeps the complete habitat at five event candy; buying the Huge Table raises the purchase cost to six.
Creepy Pumpkins (#009)
This habitat attracts Gourgeist. It requires:
- One Trevenant Streetlight
- One Pumpkin Lantern
- One Pumpkin Lantern Tower
These three pieces cost six Pumpkin Candy. Place the Pumpkin Lantern Tower on top of the Pumpkin Lantern. If the tower is placed beside the lantern or on another object, the habitat will not register even when all three items are present.
Total habitat cost
Building both habitats requires 11 Pumpkin Candy when you already own a table: five for Pumpkaboo’s habitat and six for Gourgeist’s. If you need the Huge Table, the combined cost is 12 candy. Since all nine shop items cost 20, a player who starts with no suitable table needs enough candy for the 12-candy habitat plan plus the remaining shop purchases.

Which completion strategy is fastest?
Your best purchase order depends on whether the priority is Gourgeist, the photo frame, or simply minimizing time spent traveling between targets.
| Goal | Recommended order | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Get Gourgeist as soon as possible | Buy Trevenant Streetlight, Pumpkin Lantern and Pumpkin Lantern Tower first; spend six candy and stack the tower correctly. | The three pieces are the complete Creepy Pumpkins requirement and unlock Gourgeist before nonessential shop décor. |
| Attract Pumpkaboo while conserving candy | Use an existing table with Candy Bucket and Ghost Smoke Projector; buy the Huge Table only if no table is available. | The first habitat can be completed with five event candy when a table already exists. |
| Claim every reward in one run | Farm at a dense habitat, buy both habitat sets, then purchase the remaining shop items until all nine are owned. | The Trick or Treat frame is tied to owning every listed shop item, not merely completing one habitat. |
| Protect against the deadline | Finish purchases and the Pumpkaboo conversation before November 1 at 04:59 local time. | The sources confirm the event window but do not confirm that candy exchanges remain available after the cutoff. |
Practical purchase route
- Farm until you can afford the three Gourgeist pieces if Gourgeist is your priority, or until you can afford the first habitat if you want Pumpkaboo’s attraction immediately.
- Place the pieces and verify that the habitat registers before buying decorative items. For Creepy Pumpkins, check the lantern stack rather than assuming the placement worked.
- Continue the Camouflage loop in a dense area. Rotate targets instead of waiting for the same Pokémon’s approximately eight-minute reuse period.
- Buy the remaining habitat pieces, then purchase every unowned shop item. Count the items against the nine-item table so the one-cost Huge Table is not overlooked.
How to claim Pumpkaboo, Gourgeist and the exclusive frame
Register Pumpkaboo
After the Give Me Something Good to Eat habitat is complete, Pumpkaboo is attracted to it. The attraction is separate from the candy-farming loop, so confirm that the table, Candy Bucket and Ghost Smoke Projector are all present.
Register Gourgeist
Once Creepy Pumpkins is correctly built, Gourgeist arrives at that habitat. Talk to Gourgeist there to register the friendship milestone. Simply placing the three objects is not the final interaction; the conversation is required for the milestone.

Claim the Trick or Treat photo frame
Buy all nine listed shop items, including the Huge Table if you do not already own it. Then return to Pumpkaboo and speak to it again. That conversation grants the event-exclusive Trick or Treat photo frame.
Best Value
- Don the role of a Pokémon Trainer as you travel through Kanto
- Discover a new species of Pokémon with the Pokémon Lets Go series
- Catch Pokémon in the wild using a gentle throwing motion with either a Joy-Con controller or a Poké Ball Plus accessory, which will light up, vibrate, and make sounds to bring your adventure to life
- See the world in style by customizing Pikachu and your Trainer with a selection of outfits
- Connect to Pokémon GO* to transfer caught Kanto-region Pokémon, including Alolan and Shiny forms, as well as the newly discovered Pokémon, Meltan, from that game to this one
If the frame does not appear, check the shop inventory rather than buying more candy at random. One of the nine listed items is usually still missing, or the follow-up conversation with Pumpkaboo has not been completed after the final purchase.
Deadline and post-event availability
Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist remain in town after November 1, but the available information does not confirm that Pumpkin Candy exchanges stay open beyond the event cutoff. Treat the currency as temporary: finish all purchases and the frame-claim conversation before 04:59 local time on November 1, 2026.
A safe final check is to open the shop, verify that all nine item names are owned, speak to Pumpkaboo for the frame, and visit Gourgeist’s habitat for its friendship registration while the event is still active. Do this before changing the console clock again, since the event is governed by the Switch 2’s local time.
