To finish Haunted by Daylight objectives, open the active Event Tome or quest, select a challenge for your role, complete its listed action in a Trial, and finish the match so progress can register. When that edition uses Void Energy, collect the event energy, carry it to an Unstable Rift, deposit it, and then complete the Trial. Event Tome challenges or quests can award Dark Trinkets, which are spent on event cosmetics.
Every Halloween edition changes its objectives, currencies, thresholds, dates, and cosmetic inventory. The 2025 event ran from October 14 through November 4, 2025. Exact 2026 rules and rewards have not been officially established in the available information, so do not assume that a 2022 or 2025 requirement still applies.

Check the edition before you start
Haunted by Daylight is rebuilt for each Halloween. Before queuing, confirm the event dates shown in your in-game menu and read the current Event Tome or quest description. A challenge may refer to Halloween Generators, Halloween Hooks, Pumpkins, Void Energy, an Unstable Rift, or another event object. Those labels determine what counts; an ordinary Generator, Hook, or unrelated interaction may not advance the event challenge.

- 2025: The official event guide listed an October 14–November 4 run, access to the Void Realm, event quests, daily rewards, and limited-time cosmetics.
- 2024: The Event Tome included a separate DbD Day track with eight challenges.
- 2022: A documented objective used Void Energy deposited at an Unstable Rift, with a specific carry limit and cosmetic threshold.
- 2026: Exact dates, objectives, currency rules, and rewards are not verified here. Treat the live in-game event page and the official 2026 announcement as authoritative when available.
Do not spend time farming an old threshold from a guide written for another year. The presence of Void Realm portals, crafted items, Dark Trinkets, login calendars, and separate quest tracks can differ between editions.

The complete objective loop
- Open the event interface. From the main menu, open the active Haunted by Daylight Event Tome or quest panel. Select one challenge rather than relying on an unselected objective to track automatically.
- Read the exact role requirement. Note whether the task requires a Survivor or Killer, a particular event object, Void Energy, a number of actions, or a completed Trial. Event text is more precise than a general event description.
- Perform the action in the Trial. Survivors and Killers have different objective lists. Use the sections below to identify the qualifying actions for each role.
- Collect event energy when the edition provides it. Some editions use Void Orbs or another event-energy pickup. Collect only the energy shown by the current event interface; a historical mechanic is not evidence that the 2026 event uses the same item.
- Deposit energy at an Unstable Rift when required. Carry the energy to the Rift identified by the event UI and interact with it. The deposit requirement, carry limit, and reward condition are edition-specific.
- Finish the Trial. Leave the end-of-match screen normally. The 2022 cosmetic condition explicitly required completing the match after depositing energy, and finishing the Trial is the safest way to ensure Tome or quest progress is recorded in any edition.
- Claim or spend the reward. Return to the Event Tome or event collection to claim completed tiers, then spend Dark Trinkets if the edition uses them. Login-calendar rewards may be granted separately.
Survivor objectives
Repair Halloween Generators
When a Survivor challenge specifies a Halloween Generator, repair the event-marked Generator rather than assuming every Generator qualifies. Watch the challenge tracker during the Trial so you can distinguish a qualifying repair from ordinary Generator progress. If the counter does not move, verify that the selected challenge is a Survivor objective and that the Generator carries the event designation in the current edition.
Stun a Killer carrying Void Energy
This objective has two conditions: the Killer must be carrying Void Energy, and your action must stun the Killer. A stun performed while the Killer is not carrying the required energy may not count. Read the current challenge wording for the permitted stun method and confirm the counter after the event notification appears.
Destroy Pumpkins
Destroy event Pumpkins that appear in the Trial. Because Pumpkin placement and availability are controlled by the active edition, search the map while moving between objectives instead of assuming a fixed spawn pattern. If a Pumpkin does not advance the tracker, check that it is an event Pumpkin and that the selected challenge has not been replaced or completed.
Killer objectives
Hook Survivors on Halloween Hooks
For a Halloween Hook challenge, the hook must be identified as an event Hook by the current Trial interface. A normal hook may not satisfy the requirement. Check the tracker after each qualifying hook and continue until the challenge count is complete.
Down a Survivor carrying Void Energy
The Survivor must be carrying the event energy when you down them. Downing a Survivor who has already deposited or lost the energy may not qualify. If the event UI shows an energy-carrying state, use that indicator to select your target and verify the challenge counter after the down.

Destroy Pumpkins
Break the event Pumpkins that appear in the Trial. The action is shared conceptually with the Survivor objective, but the qualifying interaction and challenge counter are tracked for the Killer role separately.
How Void Energy works
Collecting energy
Void Energy is a temporary Trial resource in editions that use it. Official event guides describe collecting Void Orbs or other event energy during the match. The exact source, spawn behavior, and amount can change, so follow the markers and interaction prompts displayed by the current event rather than a video or guide from a previous Halloween.
Depositing at an Unstable Rift
Take the collected energy to an Unstable Rift and use the interaction prompt to deposit it. If the event requires a minimum amount, the event panel should show the threshold or remaining amount. Deposit before the Trial ends and then complete the match; leaving early can prevent a reward condition from registering.
The documented 2022 threshold
The 2022 official guide recorded a carry limit of 15 Void Energy and awarded one of 12 cosmetics when a player deposited 30 Void Energy in a single Trial and completed the match. The inventory contained six Survivor cosmetics and six Killer cosmetics. This is a historical example, not a confirmed rule for 2024, 2025, or 2026. Do not plan a current event around the 15-energy limit or the 30-energy threshold unless the live event explicitly repeats them.
Event Tome, quests, and currencies
Event Tome challenges
The Event Tome is the progression list for challenges. Select a node, complete its in-Trial requirement, finish the Trial, and return to the Tome to claim the resulting reward. A challenge can be role-specific, so queue as the role named in its description. If an edition offers multiple pages or tracks, complete the currently available node before moving to the next one unless the interface states that parallel progress is allowed.

Event quests
Some editions use event quests alongside or instead of a conventional Tome path. The 2025 guide described event quests tied to limited-time rewards, including an Inferno Core outfit for Felix Richter and a Dia Das Bruxas outfit for The Skull Merchant. Read each quest’s conditions in the live event panel; the existence of a 2025 quest does not establish that the same characters or requirements return in 2026.
Dark Trinkets
Dark Trinkets are event currency in editions that award them for Tome challenges or quests. The 2024 official guide explained that Dark Trinkets could be spent on Haunted by Daylight cosmetics. Treat them as separate from Void Energy: Void Energy is collected and deposited during a Trial, while Dark Trinkets are used in the event collection after they have been awarded.
Daily login rewards
The 2025 event guide reported the following total for its full login calendar:

Those totals belong to the 2025 edition and should not be carried into a later event without a new official confirmation. Check the calendar each day during the active dates because login rewards are separate from Trial objectives.
DbD Day track in 2024
The 2024 Event Tome contained a separate DbD Day track with eight challenges. Each cosmetic unlocked on that track also granted 25,000 Bloodpoints. This was an edition-specific track; it does not prove that a 2025 or 2026 Tome includes the same number of challenges or bonus.

The following comparison keeps only values documented for a specific edition. A missing value means the cited guide did not establish it, not that the feature was absent.

Across editions, compare the event dates, Survivor and Killer objective wording, how energy is generated and deposited, whether Void Realm portals or crafted items are present, whether progression uses an Event Tome or quests, Dark Trinket thresholds, login totals, and the exact cosmetic inventory. These are the fields most likely to change.
A more efficient way to finish objectives
Plan around the selected challenge
Choose one objective that matches the role you intend to play. If you need a Survivor-only action, do not spend a Trial pursuing a Killer requirement and expect the tracker to advance. Before readying up, note the exact event noun in the text: Halloween Generator, Halloween Hook, Pumpkin, Void Energy, or Unstable Rift.
Combine movement with event actions
When searching for a Pumpkin or Void Orb, route through the map while traveling to your normal Trial objective. This reduces detours without assuming that event objects spawn in a fixed location. If the edition displays a Rift or event marker, use the marker rather than memorizing positions from an older map guide.

Do not disconnect or abandon the Trial after performing the objective. The 2022 reward required both the deposit and a completed match, and completing the Trial gives the current Tome or quest the best chance to record progress. Confirm the result on the post-Trial screen before changing challenges.
Spend currencies deliberately
Keep a separate mental ledger for three different reward types: Void Energy used inside a Trial, Dark Trinkets used in the event collection, and login-calendar rewards such as Bloodpoints or Iridescent Shards. Spending Dark Trinkets does not substitute for depositing Void Energy, and depositing energy does not automatically purchase a cosmetic unless that edition says it does.
Use the calendar before the event closes
If the event offers daily rewards, log in during the published window and check the calendar’s remaining entries. The 2025 totals were available only within that edition’s October 14–November 4 period. A later edition may use different dates, totals, or a different claim method.
When progress or rewards do not appear
The counter stays at zero
- Reopen the Event Tome or quest panel and confirm that the challenge is selected and still active.
- Check the role requirement. Survivor and Killer objectives are not interchangeable.
- Verify the event qualifier: an event Pumpkin, Halloween Generator, Halloween Hook, or energy-carrying state may be required.
- Complete the Trial and inspect the post-Trial result before assuming the action failed.
You cannot find Void Energy or an Unstable Rift
The edition may not use the same energy system, or the event may expose it only through a specific objective or portal. Check the current event panel and in-Trial markers. Do not rely on the 2022 15-energy carry limit or 30-energy deposit threshold unless the active edition states those numbers.

A cosmetic is still locked
Check whether the item is tied to a completed Tome node, a quest, a Dark Trinket purchase, a login calendar, or a separate track such as 2024’s DbD Day path. Completing an objective can award currency without automatically unlocking the item; return to the event collection and claim or purchase it when required.
The event has ended
Limited-time objectives and calendars are controlled by the edition’s published dates. After the closing date, an incomplete challenge may no longer be finishable or claimable. Save screenshots of the live requirement if you need to report a missing reward, and use the game’s support process rather than applying a threshold from an older Halloween.
What to expect from a future edition
The official 2025 guide described Haunted by Daylight as a seasonal way to enter the Void Realm, complete event quests, collect daily rewards, and earn limited-time cosmetics. Its wording confirms the event’s broad structure, not a permanent ruleset. For 2026, wait for the official announcement and then verify four things before playing for a specific reward: the active dates, the objective text for each role, the energy and deposit rules, and the cosmetic or currency list. Until those details are published, the only safe current instruction is to follow the live in-game Tome, quest panel, and event markers.
