To compare how a mobile website appears on Airtel and Jio, use the same phone, browser, URL, viewport and page state, then load the page over each live cellular connection at the same location. Repeat and alternate the tests, record the conditions, and compare like-for-like screenshots. A screenshot can show a visual difference; by itself, it cannot prove what caused it or how fast the page loaded.
Set up a fair Airtel–Jio comparison
The goal is to change the mobile network while keeping other variables as steady as possible. Start with one physical phone and test each SIM separately. If you use two phones, record both models: handset and browser differences can affect rendering, so not every screenshot difference can be attributed to the carrier.

- Choose the same test page. Use the identical URL for every run, and decide whether you are comparing the initial load, a defined wait point, or a settled page.
- Match the phone and browser settings. Keep browser and version, orientation, text size, zoom and viewport the same. Do not change accessibility or display settings between runs.
- Use live cellular data. Turn off Wi-Fi and any VPN. Test the Airtel SIM and Jio SIM separately at the same location. A dual-SIM phone is optional; swapping SIMs or using two phones also works.
- Record the conditions. Note date, local time, indoor or outdoor location, reported radio mode (such as 4G or 5G), handset, browser and any obvious signal changes. Keep 4G and 5G runs distinct when comparing results.
- Repeat, alternating the order where practical. Make several runs on each SIM rather than relying on a single load. Save each screenshot with its conditions so you can distinguish a recurring pattern from a momentary result.

Viewport capture
Capture the same visible viewport region on both carriers for a direct visual comparison. This is useful for checking whether the first screen has missing images, placeholders, font changes, layout shifts or blank sections.

Use a full-page screenshot only when both pages have reached the same endpoint. Long pages may load content as they are scrolled, so an early capture on one run and a settled capture on another are not equivalent.

First-load and settled states
If user experience is the focus, capture both an initial state and a settled-page state. Define the wait time or endpoint in advance and apply it consistently. A still image can show content that appeared late only if you capture at a defined point; it does not measure the delay on its own.
Chrome DevTools device mode can set a mobile viewport and capture viewport or full-page screenshots. Its network throttling controls simulate a connection; they do not put the browser on Airtel or Jio. See Chrome DevTools device mode documentation.
Capture with Chrome DevTools
- Connect the phone to a computer with Chrome DevTools available, or use DevTools device mode in desktop Chrome for a controlled viewport rendering check. To test a real carrier, the page must actually load through that carrier’s live SIM connection; a desktop emulation alone is not a live Airtel/Jio test.
- In DevTools, open device mode and choose a viewport that matches the phone’s test viewport. Keep the same dimensions and orientation for each comparison.
- Load the chosen URL while Wi-Fi and VPN are off, and confirm which SIM’s mobile data is active. Record the time and radio mode.
- Capture the same viewport or full-page endpoint for each run. Save files with useful names, for example
airtel-4g-run1-2026-10-04.pngandjio-4g-run1-2026-10-04.png, and keep a separate note of location and device conditions. - Repeat for the other SIM and then repeat the cycle, alternating which carrier goes first when practical.
For instructions on Chrome’s screenshot capture options, see the DevTools documentation.

Compare visual results without overclaiming
Review the screenshots for repeatable visual differences: missing images, placeholders, font substitutions, layout movement, blank sections or content present in one capture but absent in another. Compare matching states and viewports, and look for patterns across runs rather than treating one anomalous capture as a carrier result.
Separate visual findings from timing findings. If you want to say that a page or asset loaded later, record timestamps or use a browser performance/network log alongside the screenshots. A screenshot alone does not establish page speed, identify the failed request, or prove the mobile network caused a rendering problem. Browser, site behavior, device state and momentary signal conditions can all affect what appears.
Keep simulated throttling separate from live carrier tests
Chrome DevTools and Lighthouse can model a mobile connection for repeatable experiments, but the result is not an Airtel or Jio measurement. Google’s Lighthouse documentation describes a mobile throttling preset of 150 ms latency, 1.6 Mbps download, 750 Kbps upload and no packet loss. That is a broad simulated mobile profile, not a carrier-specific network. See Lighthouse throttling documentation.

If using Lighthouse, state the exact preset and tool version in your notes. Do not combine emulated runs with live SIM runs as though they measured the same connection.

Carrier experience depends on place and time. Airtel says its coverage map is based on predicted outdoor estimates and that actual coverage can vary with geography, distance from a tower and building density. Its map is not a guarantee of indoor performance at your test spot: Airtel Open Network.
Independent results are scoped too. TRAI’s drive-test reporting describes performance on the route and at the time tested, rather than everywhere a provider operates. See the Ministry of Communications’ report description: PIB report on TRAI drive testing.

As broad background, nPerf’s 2025–2026 India barometer reports overall download speeds of 62.38 Mbps for Airtel and 63.43 Mbps for Jio, and web-browsing scores of 59.86% and 60.57%, respectively. These are period-wide figures, not predictions for a particular street, building, handset or page load; the report also presents different 5G-specific figures. See nPerf India 2025–2026 barometer.
Common problems and fixes
- The same SIM produces different screenshots: pages and radio conditions can vary from run to run. Repeat the test, keep the capture endpoint fixed and compare recurring results.
- You are unsure which connection loaded the page: turn off Wi-Fi and VPN, verify the active data SIM before each run, and note the radio mode and signal changes.
- One screenshot has more content: check whether both captures used the same wait time or full-page endpoint. Repeat after defining and matching the page state.
- A visual glitch appears once: do not label it a carrier fault from a single capture. Repeat on both networks under matched browser and device settings.
- You need to compare loading time: add timestamps or a browser performance/network log. Screenshots alone do not provide a reliable timing measurement.
- You used DevTools throttling: report it as an emulated test, not Airtel or Jio. Run separate live-SIM tests if the question is about those carriers.
Or skip the browser setup
For a repeatable screenshot request in an automated workflow, ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API and MCP server. One request can return a screenshot; its browser capture is not a substitute for measuring a specific phone’s live Airtel or Jio connection. See the ScreenshotNeo documentation.

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. These automated captures can help standardize page screenshots, but they do not establish what a live Airtel or Jio SIM delivered to a particular handset. Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a dual-SIM phone to compare Airtel and Jio?
No. You can switch SIMs in one phone or test with two phones, provided you record device differences.

Can a screenshot tell me which carrier is faster?
No. It shows rendered content at capture time, not a page-speed measurement. Add timing records or browser performance data for load-time claims.
Does DevTools mobile throttling test Airtel or Jio?
No. Throttling is an emulation; a live carrier comparison requires the page to load over the carrier’s SIM connection.
