What’s actually slowing this PC down?

There is no evidence-based universal winner among Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud for AI workloads. Compare the exact models, tasks, deployment locations, security controls, integrations, service limits, and expected usage your application needs—then test shortlisted configurations with representative work. The available provider documentation does not establish a normalized performance or cost ranking.
Define the workload before comparing clouds
Start with the application you intend to run, not a provider’s product name or a headline model price. Write down what the system must do and the conditions it must meet. That gives you a basis for checking service fit, estimating a complete configuration, and running a meaningful pilot.

- Tasks: Identify required capabilities, such as text generation, vision, speech, translation, embeddings, document processing, retrieval, or predictive modeling.
- Models: Name the models or model characteristics you need, and note whether a managed service must provide them. Do not assume that a model or feature is available in every cloud region.
- Data: Map the prompts, outputs, retrieved documents, and other information the application sends to or receives from model services. Specify where that data may be processed.
- Traffic: Estimate requests, input and output sizes, concurrency, and periods of peak demand. Record latency targets and the quality criteria the application must satisfy.
- Architecture: List existing data stores, identity systems, applications, networking, and operational tools the workload must connect to. Include retrieval, agent, evaluation, and observability functions only where the application needs them.
- Constraints: Record applicable compliance obligations, encryption and key-management needs, private-network requirements, and any restrictions on regions or data movement.
Keep assumptions visible. A cost or latency estimate is only useful when it reflects a particular model, region, deployment type, traffic pattern, and set of supporting services.

Product labels are not equivalent units of comparison. Microsoft groups capabilities under Microsoft Foundry and Foundry Tools; AWS describes Amazon Bedrock as a managed service for accessing foundation models from multiple providers; Google Cloud’s service comparison places Vertex AI in its AI/ML platform category, including training, hosting, and prediction. Those descriptions establish broad positioning, not a complete feature-by-feature match.

| Provider and service | What the cited documentation establishes | What to verify for your workload |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Azure: Microsoft Foundry and Foundry Tools | Foundry Tools include speech, translation, language, content understanding, document intelligence, vision, and Azure AI Search. Feature and model availability varies by region. Microsoft also documents evaluation and observability capabilities for generative AI applications; some features use consumption billing. | Confirm that the exact model, tool, feature, and dependent service are available in the intended region, and check quota before deployment. Match the services to the tasks and integrations your application actually needs. |
| Amazon Web Services: Amazon Bedrock | AWS describes Bedrock as a fully managed service for building generative AI applications with foundation models from multiple providers. Its model pricing varies by model and region. | Check the current model catalog, regional availability, and required features for the intended configuration. Estimate the selected model’s cost using the expected usage pattern. |
| Google Cloud: Vertex AI | Google Cloud’s cross-provider service comparison maps Vertex AI to the AI/ML platform category and describes training generative and predictive models, hosting trained models, and using them for predictions. | Check current Google Cloud documentation for the specific models, regions, deployment options, pricing, security controls, and limits your workload requires; the service comparison does not establish those details. |
This comparison is a starting point, not a complete or current model-catalog parity check. Confirm model and feature details in the provider documentation for the deployment you are considering. If a workload needs several different capabilities, compare the configuration that supplies all of them rather than assuming one named platform feature covers the entire application.
Check region, data processing, and quota together
A cloud region is not, by itself, a complete description of where inference is processed. Microsoft documents global, data-zone, regional, and provisioned deployment choices. They can differ in data processing, billing, and service characteristics, and the supported choices depend on the model. Do not generalize that deployment menu to every model.

For each candidate configuration, establish whether the model and every dependent service are available where you need them, how the selected deployment type processes data, and whether you can obtain the required capacity. Microsoft specifically advises checking feature-specific regional support and quota before deployment. Apply the same verification discipline to AWS and Google Cloud: confirm the exact model, feature, region, and capacity rather than relying on a general platform description.
- Identify the regions permitted by your data-processing and compliance requirements.
- Check the exact model and required features in those regions.
- Confirm how the deployment type handles inference processing and which service characteristics or billing rules apply.
- Check quota or capacity for expected traffic before treating a candidate as deployable.
- Include dependent services in the same regional and architecture review.
Translate security and compliance needs into controls
Assess each shortlisted configuration against specific requirements, not a provider’s general security positioning. AWS documents encryption in transit and at rest for Bedrock, customer-managed encryption keys using AWS KMS, identity-based policies controlling permitted actions, and private connectivity from a VPC through AWS PrivateLink. These are documented service controls, not a complete independent security assessment.

For each provider, map your requirements to the controls and compliance scope that apply to the exact services, regions, and deployment choices in use. Check identity and access policies, encryption, key control, network isolation, and applicable compliance coverage. The documentation summarized here does not provide a full side-by-side security audit of Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, so do not infer equivalent controls or scope where they have not been verified.
Estimate the full workload cost
Compare configured workloads, not a single token price or a provider’s headline service. AWS publishes Bedrock pricing that varies by model and region. Microsoft documents token-based and provisioned-throughput options, with deployment choices that can also affect billing. The cited material does not establish a comparable price ranking or identify a cheapest provider.

Validate estimates against observed consumption once a pilot is running; a model price alone is not the total workload cost.
Run a pilot to compare quality and performance
The available sources do not provide a comparable benchmark across the three providers. A performance winner therefore cannot be named from these materials. Test candidate configurations using the same representative tasks and evaluation criteria before making a decision.

- Prepare representative work: Use examples that reflect real prompts, input data, retrieved context, and expected outputs. Include difficult cases, not only easy demonstrations.
- Use the same evaluation criteria: Define acceptable output quality and task success in terms relevant to the application. Record how results will be judged so one candidate is not evaluated more favorably than another.
- Exercise expected traffic: Test the concurrency and usage patterns the workload is expected to handle, and measure results against its latency targets.
- Include the real architecture: Test necessary data connections, identity, retrieval, networking, evaluation, and observability components rather than measuring model calls in isolation if those services are part of production.
- Record the configuration: For every run, note the model, region, deployment type, relevant settings, and usage assumptions. Otherwise a result may not be reproducible or comparable.
- Compare the trade-offs: Review task quality, latency, throughput, operational fit, and the cost of the tested configuration together. A candidate that performs well on one measure may not meet a different workload requirement.
Use a decision checklist, not a universal ranking
Before selecting a platform, make sure you can answer these questions for the specific workload:
- Does the candidate provide the required model and every necessary task capability?
- Are the model, features, and dependent services available in acceptable regions?
- Does the deployment configuration meet data-processing, quota, and capacity requirements?
- Are the required identity, encryption, key-management, network, and compliance controls verified for the selected services?
- Can the platform integrate with the workload’s existing data, applications, and operating practices?
- Does a realistic estimate include model usage, deployment choices, region, and supporting services?
- Did a representative pilot meet the workload’s quality, latency, and throughput criteria?
If an answer is unknown, treat it as an open validation item rather than assuming the providers are interchangeable. Choose the configuration that satisfies the workload’s verified requirements and performs acceptably in the pilot.
