What clearing cookies does—and what it does not do
Cookies are data websites store in your browser to remember information such as sign-in state and preferences. Removing them can sign you out or reset site settings, so be ready to sign in again. A browser may list cookies and cached images or files as separate data categories; selecting one does not necessarily select the other. Google’s Chrome guidance explains cookie removal, while its Android cache and cookies guide notes that cached content may need to download again, making some sites load more slowly at first.

Clearing cookies or cache can help with some website loading or display problems, but it is not a guaranteed fix. If the problem is limited to one website, try deleting only that site’s data before clearing data for every site.
