Een bèta-update uitzetten is niet hetzelfde als de geïnstalleerde bèta verwijderen. Op iPhone en iPad voorkomt het uitschakelen van bèta-updates nieuwe bèta-installaties; voor direct teruggaan naar de actuele publieke iOS- of iPadOS-versie schrijft Apple wissen en herstellen voor. Voor Mac bevestigt Apple hoe je toekomstige bèta-updates stopt, maar de geraadpleegde handleiding beschrijft geen volledige downgrade. Voor Apple TV en Apple Watch zijn hier geen bevestigde herstelstappen beschikbaar.
Eerst kiezen: geen nieuwe bèta’s of meteen terug naar de publieke versie?
Als je alleen geen nieuwe bèta-updates meer wilt ontvangen, schakel je bèta-updates uit of verwijder je het bèta-profiel waar dat van toepassing is. De al geïnstalleerde bèta blijft dan staan. Wil je op een iPhone of iPad direct de actuele publieke versie installeren, dan schrijft Apple wissen en herstellen voor.

iOS- of iPadOS-bèta-updates uitzetten
De instellingen hangen af van de versie die op je iPhone of iPad staat. Deze stappen stoppen toekomstige bèta-updates; ze zetten de huidige installatie niet terug naar een publieke versie.

- Open Instellingen > Algemeen > Software-update > Bèta-updates.
- Kies Uit.
Daarmee ontvang je geen nieuwe bèta-updates via deze instelling. De bèta die al op het apparaat staat, blijft geïnstalleerd. Apple Support beschrijft deze instelling.

- Open Instellingen > Algemeen > VPN- en apparaatbeheer.
- Selecteer het bèta-softwareprofiel als dat daar wordt weergegeven.
- Tik op de optie om het profiel te verwijderen en bevestig de keuze.
Apple geeft aan dat het verwijderen van het profiel ervoor zorgt dat het apparaat geen publieke bèta’s meer ontvangt. Deze handeling verwijdert de geïnstalleerde bèta niet. Als er geen bèta-profiel zichtbaar is, is deze profielroute niet van toepassing. Apple Support: profiel verwijderen.
De publieke iOS- of iPadOS-versie meteen installeren
Om de geïnstalleerde bèta direct te verwijderen en de actuele publiek uitgebrachte versie te installeren, zegt Apple dat je het apparaat moet wissen en herstellen. Dit is geen instelling die de bèta behoudt maar alleen toekomstige updates uitschakelt: het herstel wist de inhoud van de iPhone of iPad.

- Controleer je back-up voordat je begint. Een back-up die tijdens bètag gebruik is gemaakt, is mogelijk niet compatibel met een oudere publieke versie. Apple waarschuwt dat je daarom mogelijk een oudere of gearchiveerde back-up nodig hebt die bij de versie past waarnaar je terugkeert.
- Gebruik een bijgewerkte Mac of de Apple Devices-app op een pc. Sluit de iPhone of iPad op de computer aan.
- Zet het apparaat in herstelmodus. De handeling verschilt per apparaatmodel; volg de instructies voor jouw model.
- Kies ‘Herstel’ op de computer en volg de aanwijzingen om iOS of iPadOS opnieuw te installeren.
Omdat de herstelbewerking wist, ga pas verder als je begrijpt welke gegevens je vanuit een geschikte back-up kunt terugzetten. Apple beschrijft zowel de herstelroute als de back-upbeperking in de instructies voor het verwijderen van iOS- en iPadOS-bètasoftware.

Een andere USB-kabel proberen is een van de probleemoplossingsstappen die Apple noemt bij update- of herstelfouten. Het is geen vereiste voor een normale herstelpoging. Bekijk Apple’s stappen voor fouten bij het bijwerken of herstellen van iPhone, iPad of iPod.

Een Mac uitschrijven uit het bètaprogramma
Apple’s Feedback Assistant-handleiding bevestigt dat je een Mac op elk moment kunt uitschrijven, zodat die geen bèta-updates meer ontvangt. Dat stopt toekomstige updates, maar bewijst niet dat de huidige macOS-installatie daarmee wordt teruggedraaid. De geraadpleegde Apple-informatie geeft ook geen volledige downgradeprocedure voor macOS.
Gebruik daarom Apple’s handleiding voor uitschrijven via Feedback Assistant op Mac voor het stoppen van toekomstige bèta-updates. Controleer voordat je een macOS-versie probeert terug te zetten de actuele Apple-instructies die gelden voor jouw Mac en versie; ga niet uit van de iPhone- of iPad-herstelstappen.

Apple TV en Apple Watch: controleer eerst de officiële procedure
Voor tvOS en watchOS zijn hier geen voldoende specifieke, bevestigde Apple-stappen beschikbaar om een bèta te verwijderen of direct terug te gaan naar een publieke versie. De iPhone- en iPad-instructies zijn niet automatisch toepasbaar op Apple TV of Apple Watch.
Zoek vóór je iets wijzigt de actuele Apple Support-instructies voor jouw apparaatmodel en softwareversie. Als Apple geen ondersteunde terugkeerroute voor die combinatie beschrijft, volg dan geen herstelprocedure voor een ander platform.
