Clean your Samsung dryer’s lint filter after every load. Remove it, clear away lint by hand, and clean the filter slot if lint has collected there. If lint is stuck, a gentle brush or, where your model’s instructions allow, rinsing can help—but the filter must be completely dry before you reinstall it. Never run the dryer without the filter correctly in place.
Where to find the lint filter
Filter location and design vary by dryer model. On many Samsung dryers, the filter pulls out from inside the drum; some models use an inner-and-outer filter assembly, and washer-dryer combos may not have a lint filter. Check the manual for your exact model before removing parts. How to clean the filter
- Turn the dryer off. Samsung Canada advises turning the dryer off and unplugging it before maintenance. If it has recently been used, let the drum cool completely. See Samsung Canada’s dryer-maintenance guidance.
- Remove the filter according to your model’s instructions. Open the door or filter cover and take out the filter. If the model has nested filters, keep track of how they fit together.
- Clear away lint. For ordinary lint, remove it by hand. If lint is stuck, Samsung Canada recommends rinsing the filter under warm water and gently scrubbing it with a soft brush. Use a soft brush or vacuum attachment to remove lint around the filter slot.
- Dry it completely if you rinsed it. Do not reinstall a damp filter. For the dual-filter design covered by Samsung Australia, dry the filters completely in the shade rather than direct sunlight. Follow your model’s manual if it gives different instructions.
- Reassemble and reinstall the filter. Return every part to its original position, taking care not to force or mishandle a multi-part assembly. Some combo models have additional cautions: the Samsung Laundry Combo manual, for example, says not to remove the rubber seal.
How often to clean it
Clean the filter after every load. Samsung US says to clean it before or after every load and notes that doing both is better; guidance from Samsung Canada and Australia also calls for cleaning after every load. The US instructions are here: How to clean your Samsung dryer.

Important precautions
- Do not operate the dryer without the lint filter installed correctly. Samsung warns that running it without the filter can reduce performance or create a fire risk.
- Do not use a damaged or broken filter. Find a compatible replacement using the dryer’s model code. Samsung US directs owners to Samsung Parts for replacement inquiries; compatibility depends on the exact model.
- Keep filter cleaning separate from vent cleaning. Removing lint from the filter and slot is routine after-load maintenance. The exhaust vent is a separate part of the dryer system; Samsung recommends professional vent cleaning. Its US guide lists tools for owners who choose to do that work themselves, but those tools are not needed for ordinary filter cleaning.
Why the model manual matters
Samsung dryers do not all use the same filter arrangement or removal procedure. General guidance covers routine lint removal, but the exact manual should take precedence for filter placement, multi-part assemblies, handling and drying. Regional instructions can differ, and Samsung Australia says its guidance applies to Australian products; use the instructions for your model and market.
