Usually, you should not put a Jujutsu Kaisen plush or fidget toy in water until you have checked its sewn-in label, hangtag, and construction. Licensed products differ by manufacturer, and many plush mascots combine polyester fabric with iron chains, PVC details, paint, glued parts, sound components, or batteries. If the instructions are missing or unclear, surface cleaning is the safest default.
Fidget and squishy toys require a separate approach. Keep rubber, PVC, foam, gel, and similar sensory products away from liquids, bleach, alcohol, heat, freezing, punctures, chewing, and forceful stretching. The sections below show how to choose a cleaning method, remove common dirt without damaging a collectible, dry the filling safely, and respond to leaks or tears.

Start with the care label, not the character
The item’s care instructions override its character, rarity, price, and size. A Megumi Fushiguro 8-inch plush listing from Great Eastern Entertainment states that washing instructions vary by manufacturer and tells owners to follow the individual tag. The same principle applies to every licensed Jujutsu Kaisen plush: two products that look similar may use different fabrics, adhesives, stuffing, chains, or printed finishes.

- The sewn-in fabric label, including universal washing symbols.
- The hangtag or cardboard packaging.
- The manufacturer’s product page and any included instruction sheet.
- Labels on detachable accessories, if those accessories have their own care requirements.
Jellycat’s care guidance illustrates why both online and physical instructions matter: its product pages and sewn-in labels carry care information. If a tag is missing, illegible, or contradictory, treat the plush as surface-clean only. Do not guess that a polyester body makes the entire item washable.

Inspect what is attached before choosing a method
Turn the plush over and examine seams, facial details, accessories, and the filling. Identify anything that could react badly to water, agitation, pressure, or heat:
- Sound boxes, batteries, lights, or other electronics.
- Glued eyes, noses, appliqués, or painted features.
- Iron chains, ball chains, ribbons, clips, and key-ring hardware.
- PVC, rubber, vinyl, or coated details.
- Loose seams, exposed stuffing, cracked plastic, or lifting paint.
Electronics and fragile glued parts rule out immersion unless the maker expressly permits it. Chains and PVC can also scratch fabric, snag in a washer, transfer color, or trap moisture. A plush with any of these features should normally be cleaned with a controlled cloth rather than soaked.
Choose the least aggressive method that fits

“Polyester” describes a material, not a complete care permission. Official product listings show why construction matters. The Movic Jujutsu Kaisen NUI-PAL plush mascot (2025) is approximately 12 cm, has a polyester body, and includes an iron ball chain; it is marked for ages 15 and up. Broccoli’s Chun-Colle plush (2023) measures approximately 80 × 70 × 60 mm, uses a polyester body, and lists PVC on the Gojo variant along with an iron chain. Those attachments make the label and the exact model more important than the fabric name.

How to surface-clean a Jujutsu Kaisen plush
Surface cleaning is the default for uncertain items and for plushies with chains, PVC, painted details, glued features, batteries, or sound modules.
- Prepare a clean work area. Wash your hands, clear a dry surface, and remove detachable items only if their instructions allow it. Keep food, drinks, sand, and sticky materials away from the plush while you work.
- Remove loose dust gently. Use a clean, soft cloth with light strokes. Do not scrub embroidery, printed faces, chains, or raised appliqués. If the cloth catches on a seam, stop and inspect rather than pulling.
- Check the cleaner. Use mild soap with warm water or a plush cleaner whose label says it is suitable for the material. Pawprint Press advises following the application instructions whenever a plush-toy cleaner is used.
- Spot-test a hidden area. Dampen a small part beneath the body, behind an accessory, or inside a seam allowance. Wait until it dries and check for dye transfer, fading, stickiness, texture change, or loosened adhesive.
- Dampen the cloth, not the toy. Wring the cloth so it is moist rather than dripping. Work in small sections and use the smallest amount of liquid that removes the mark.
- Lift the stain. Press and wipe lightly from the outside of a mark toward its center. Repeated gentle passes are safer than one forceful scrub. Keep water away from electronics, openings, chains, and PVC unless the product instructions specifically allow contact.
- Remove cleaner residue. Use a second cloth lightly dampened with clean water, if the care instructions permit it. Do not saturate the stuffing.
- Dry completely. Place the plush in a clean, dry location with air able to reach all sides. Turn it periodically if the label allows handling. The outside can feel dry while the center remains damp, so do not store or use it until the filling is fully dry.
Dust and light surface dirt
Start with a dry soft cloth. If dust has settled into the pile, use short, gentle strokes in the direction of the fabric. A damp cloth is only the next step when the label permits surface washing. Avoid aggressive brushing that can fuzz synthetic fibers or pull embroidered threads.
Small food or drink marks
Remove solid residue without spreading it, then use the spot-test procedure and a barely damp cloth with mild soap or an approved plush cleaner. Work in short passes and rinse the cloth rather than repeatedly rubbing residue back onto the fabric. Do not turn a small mark into a full soak.

Oily or sticky marks
Use only a cleaner that the label or manufacturer approves. Strong solvents, alcohol, bleach, and household sprays can discolor fabric, soften plastics, or damage coatings. If the mark remains after gentle spot cleaning, stop rather than escalating to an unapproved chemical.

Odors
Do not mask an odor with fragrance or saturate the plush. Check for damp stuffing, food residue, a damaged seam, or a contaminated accessory. Surface-clean only as the label allows, then allow the entire filling to dry in a clean, dry place. Persistent odor from the interior is a reason to seek manufacturer guidance instead of repeatedly wetting the toy.
When hand washing is allowed
Hand washing is not automatically safer than machine washing. Use it only when the label expressly permits it and the item has no electronics or fragile attached components that the instructions exclude.

- Fill a basin according to the label’s temperature guidance. Avoid hot water unless the manufacturer specifically allows it.
- Add only the detergent and amount permitted for delicate plush. Do not add bleach, alcohol, strong solvents, or unapproved disinfectants.
- Support the plush with both hands and clean gently. Do not twist, wring, pull chains, or aggressively stretch the body.
- Keep soaking time as short as the instructions allow. Prolonged immersion can wet the core, loosen glue, rust metal, or affect PVC and printed details.
- Rinse only as directed, supporting the item so the wet filling does not strain seams.
- Press out excess water with a clean towel if the label permits. Never wring the plush.
- Dry the center completely before storage or play.
When machine washing is allowed
Machine washing is conditional, not a general recommendation. Spin Master/GUND support instructs owners to check the hangtag or sewn-in label and says that a label-approved machine-washable plush can be cleaned with gentle detergent on a delicate setting. The same guidance recommends a pillowcase or soft cloth bag for extra protection.
- Confirm the exact permission. “Polyester” or “stuffed” is not enough; the label must allow machine washing.
- Secure vulnerable parts. Remove detachable accessories only when the instructions allow it. Check that seams are closed and that no chain, PVC part, battery compartment, or glued feature is loose.
- Use a protective cover. Put the plush in a pillowcase or soft cloth bag and close it securely. This reduces snagging and direct contact with the drum.
- Select delicate. Use the delicate cycle and the temperature specified by the label. Do not substitute a normal, heavy-duty, or hot cycle.
- Add gentle detergent. Use only a gentle detergent suitable for the approved wash method. Do not add bleach, alcohol, harsh cleaners, or chemical sprays.
- Inspect immediately afterward. Check seams, chains, PVC, paint, and glued parts before drying. If anything has loosened, stop and repair or seek manufacturer advice.
- Dry as directed and verify the core. A dryer is not automatically safe. Use it only if the label expressly permits it; otherwise follow the approved air-drying method and wait until the filling is completely dry.
Drying is part of cleaning
Moisture trapped inside stuffing can cause odor, mildew, weakened seams, or damage that is invisible from the outside. Schylling’s care guidance specifically emphasizes keeping toys clean and dry and storing them away from moisture and heat. Use these checks:
- Feel the thickest parts, not just the surface pile.
- Check around the head, feet, seams, and any dense stuffing where water can remain.
- Do not seal a damp plush in a plastic bin, backpack, drawer, or closet.
- Keep it away from direct sunlight and high heat, which can fade fabric or deform attached materials.
- Do not assume a warm surface means the interior is dry.
If a label permits a dryer, follow its exact temperature and time limits. If it does not, do not improvise with a dryer, heater, hair dryer, oven, microwave, or steam appliance.

Storage and routine handling
Store a clean, completely dry plush in a dry location away from direct sunlight, high heat, moisture, pets, food, and dust. Never put a damp item into long-term storage. Keep chains and protruding accessories from pressing against another plush, and avoid overpacking a bin or bag because compression can stress seams and deform soft parts.
No authoritative cleaning-frequency statistic or lifespan figure has been published for Jujutsu Kaisen plushies. Instead of following a fixed calendar, inspect the item when it has visible dirt, a spill, an odor, or storage exposure. Handle it with clean hands and address small marks early, using the least aggressive method permitted by the label.
Fidget and squishy toys need different care
A sensory toy is not a washable plush simply because it has a character design. Rubber, PVC, foam, gel, and other squishy materials can absorb products, become sticky, split, or leak. Follow the toy’s own instructions and use a dry, gentle approach unless the maker expressly permits water.

Removing crumbs and loose dirt
First follow the product instructions. If they do not allow wet cleaning, remove loose debris with a clean, dry, soft cloth and gentle handling. Do not push crumbs into seams or use sticky tape that could pull the surface. Keep food away from sensory toys during use and storage.
Can you use soap or disinfectant?
Not by default. Schylling warns against bleach, alcohol, harsh cleaners, abrasive pads, boiling water, steam cleaners, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, strong solvents, and chemical sprays unless product instructions clearly allow them. A disinfectant that is safe for a hard countertop may damage a squishy surface or leave a residue that transfers to skin.

Common mistakes that damage collectibles
- Washing because the body is polyester: attachments, adhesives, electronics, and stuffing may have different limits.
- Using a normal washer cycle: agitation and heat can stress seams and accessories even when delicate washing is approved.
- Soaking an uncertain item: unclear instructions mean surface cleaning, not an experiment.
- Using disinfectant automatically: alcohol, bleach, solvents, and sprays can damage fabric and plastic.
- Drying only the outside: the filling can remain wet after the surface feels dry.
- Sealing damp toys in storage: trapped moisture encourages odor and deterioration.
- Cleaning a damaged squishy: water and pressure can turn a small split into a leak.
- Using a bath product on a plush: a rubber mascot supplied with bath salt is not evidence that plush fabric can be immersed.
