If you made a qualifying Gears of War: E-Day pre-order, open the Microsoft Store app on your Xbox console, go to your profile, choose Offers & Credits, and redeem the offer under Active. The current rollout reported by Pure Xbox is a $5 USD Microsoft Store prepaid card; the report says the balance is available until January 11, 2027. Visibility is not guaranteed for every country, account, edition or purchase route.
What the promotion actually provides
The promotion is an account offer rather than a code that appears automatically in your game library. When Microsoft makes the offer available to an eligible account, it appears in the Microsoft Store app’s Offers & Credits area. You must open that offer and redeem it.

Pure Xbox reported that the reward is a $5 USD Microsoft Store prepaid card. It can be applied to purchases in the Xbox and Microsoft Store ecosystem, subject to the normal account, currency and storefront rules for your region. It is not the same thing as a free copy of the game, a cash payment, Xbox Game Pass time, or an in-game cosmetic.

The pre-order promotion also advertised the Exfil Dom Character Skin and Exfil Weapon Skin Set for the game. Those in-game items are separate from the Store credit and are delivered through the game’s pre-order entitlement system.
Check eligibility before looking for the offer
Offer visibility depends on more than owning Gears of War: E-Day. Check each condition below before assuming the claim page is missing.
Edition purchased
Pure Xbox’s report said the Standard Edition and the full Premium Edition appeared eligible in the rollout. It reported that the Premium Upgrade appeared excluded. That is a reported account-and-region condition, not a universal Microsoft eligibility statement, so the offer shown in your account is the final practical test.

Pre-order timing
The official Xbox Game Studios Shop terms described the offer as valid for pre-orders made before October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PT, at participating retailers and while supplies lasted. The terms also limited the offer to one per person or account. A purchase made after that cutoff should not be treated as qualifying merely because the game page still shows pre-order benefits.
Country and account
The reported rollout was limited to some countries and could take time to reach an account. Microsoft can also attach an offer to the account that completed the transaction rather than to every account on a shared console. Sign in with the gamertag used for the pre-order before checking.

Storefront
A purchase through an Xbox console or Xbox PC storefront is the route most directly connected to the Microsoft Store account offer. A Steam purchase is a separate storefront transaction and should not be assumed to produce a Microsoft Store credit offer. If you bought through a retailer, verify that the retailer participated in the promotion and follow any code-delivery instructions supplied with the physical or digital order.
Claim the gift card on an Xbox console
Use the Microsoft Store app rather than the game’s own menus. The labels below follow the current rollout instructions reported by Pure Xbox.

- Sign in to the correct Xbox profile. Use the gamertag and Microsoft account that placed the qualifying pre-order. If several people use the console, confirm the profile name before opening the Store.
- Open Microsoft Store. From the Xbox dashboard, launch the Microsoft Store app. You do not need to start Gears of War: E-Day to find the offer.
- Open the left-side menu. Press the controller’s menu control to reveal the Store navigation rail.
- Select your gamertag. Choose the profile entry shown in the left menu. This opens the account area associated with the signed-in profile.
- Open Profile. In the account menu, select Profile to reach the page containing account offers and credits.
- Select Offers & Credits. This is the claim location. It is separate from the standard redeem-code screen and from your games library.
- Open the Active section. Look for an active Gears of War: E-Day pre-order offer. Read the offer description and any displayed terms before accepting it.
- Redeem the offer. Select the offer and follow the confirmation prompt. After redemption, allow the Store to refresh your account balance before attempting a purchase.
If the offer is present but the redemption button is unavailable, do not repeatedly purchase the game or upgrade. Capture the exact message, check that the console is online, and use the account-support route linked from your Microsoft account.
What to do when no Active offer appears
An empty Active list does not by itself prove that the promotion has failed. Work through these checks in order.
1. Recheck the account
Sign out of any profile that did not place the order and sign back in with the purchasing account. A family member’s profile can play an owned game on the same console but will not necessarily receive a personal promotional entitlement.

2. Verify the purchase route
Review the order confirmation and identify the storefront and seller. The offer terms refer to participating retailers, and a Steam receipt, a non-participating retailer receipt, or an order made outside the qualifying Xbox storefront may not create a Microsoft Store offer.

3. Confirm the edition
Check the product name in your order history. A Premium Upgrade transaction is not the same product as the full Premium Edition; the reported rollout treated those products differently.
4. Check the pre-order date
Compare the transaction timestamp with the October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PT cutoff in the official terms. If the order was placed after that time, the earlier promotional wording on a game page does not override the terms.
5. Allow for rollout delay
Pure Xbox reported that the offer could take time to appear and might be restricted by country. Check the Active section again later while signed in to the same account. Avoid changing the account’s region simply to force an offer; region changes can affect currency, billing and access to existing purchases.
6. Preserve evidence before contacting support
Keep the order number, purchase date, edition name, retailer, country, and the Microsoft account used. A screenshot of the empty Offers & Credits page and the original receipt gives support enough information to determine whether the transaction matched the promotion.

How purchase route and delivery method change the outcome

The official Gears page lists Standard, Premium and Premium Upgrade editions and says digital pre-orders receive pre-order benefits automatically. For physical orders, the retailer may deliver a code instead. That distinction explains why two customers who bought the same edition can see different delivery steps.

The official Xbox Game Studios Shop terms described three limitations that are easy to overlook: the order had to be placed before the stated October 6 cutoff, the retailer had to participate and still have supplies, and each person or account could receive only one offer. These are purchase-qualification rules; they are different from the later date shown for using the redeemed balance.
If two people share a console, do not expect two credits simply because both profiles can launch the game. The promotion is tied to the qualifying person or account, and the terms specify a one-offer limit.
Using the redeemed balance
After confirmation, the credit is attached to the Microsoft account that redeemed the offer. It can be used toward eligible purchases presented through the Xbox or Microsoft Store checkout for that account. The checkout will normally show available account funds before you place the order.

- Make sure the item is sold through a storefront that accepts Microsoft account funds in your region.
- Keep the confirmation screen or email until the credit appears.
- Spend the balance within the availability period shown for your account; the reported rollout listed January 11, 2027.
Currency and regional rules still apply. A USD-denominated offer may not display the same value in another country’s currency, and some products or subscriptions can have separate payment requirements. If checkout does not apply the credit, stop before confirming the purchase and verify the account, region and item eligibility.

Game and platform context
Gears of War: E-Day entered Early Access on October 1, 2026, with worldwide launch on October 6, 2026, according to Xbox Wire. The game is available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam.
The official Gears page describes Xbox Play Anywhere support for a single Xbox Series X|S or Xbox PC purchase. Play Anywhere affects where a qualifying purchase can be played; it does not change the gift-card offer’s reported edition, retailer, region or account conditions.
The Xbox Wire pre-order wording promised an Xbox gift card together with the Exfil Dom Character Skin and Exfil Weapon Skin Set at launch. In practice, treat the card claim and the in-game items as separate entitlements: one is redeemed through the Microsoft Store account offer, while the others are checked through the game’s launch and content systems.

- Did you pre-order before October 6, 2026 at 7:59 a.m. PT?
- Was the order placed with a participating retailer or qualifying Microsoft storefront?
- Did you buy Standard or the full Premium Edition rather than only Premium Upgrade?
- Are you signed in with the account that made the purchase?
- Did you open Microsoft Store → Profile → Offers & Credits → Active?
- If the list is empty, have you allowed for rollout delay and checked country availability?
When all of those checks pass and the offer still does not appear, contact Microsoft or the selling retailer with the order details rather than buying the game again. The reported promotion was not confirmed as a universal, every-country Microsoft guarantee, so support must evaluate the specific account and transaction.
