To claim an Epic Games Store giveaway, sign in to an Epic Games account with two-factor authentication enabled, open the official Free Games page while the promotion is active, select the giveaway, choose Get or the equivalent claim action, and complete the zero-price checkout or confirmation. The Epic Games Store Free Games page can show several kinds of no-cost content together. Treating every item as the same can lead to a missed giveaway or an incorrect expectation about ownership.

Requirements before you claim
An Epic Games account
You need an Epic Games account. If you do not already have one, create it through Epic’s account flow and sign in before attempting the claim. The entitlement is associated with the account that completes the transaction, so make sure you are using the account you intend to keep using.

Two-factor authentication
Epic Games Player Support requires two-factor authentication to be enabled before a free game can be claimed. Turn it on in your account security settings and finish the setup rather than leaving the process half-completed. If the store refuses the claim and asks for additional account security, return to the account settings, confirm that two-factor authentication is active, then retry the claim.
A timely check of the promotion
Epic says a new free game is available every Thursday at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time. The normal claim period is seven days, ending when the next rotation occurs. Because the exact title and the on-page countdown can change, check the store page itself and use the deadline displayed there as the final authority.
A supported way to access the store
The offer can be checked on a computer through the Epic Games Store. Epic’s storefront also says its free-game app is available globally on Android and in supported regions on iPhone and iPad. Mobile platform and regional support can change, so confirm availability from the live official page instead of assuming that every device or country has identical access.

How to claim the weekly giveaway
- Sign in to the correct account. Open the Epic Games Store and verify the account identity shown in the account area. If you have more than one account, stop and switch before claiming; a completed claim cannot be moved simply because you were signed in elsewhere.
- Confirm two-factor authentication. Make sure the account meets Epic’s two-factor requirement before selecting the game. Completing this first avoids reaching checkout and then being blocked by an account-security prompt.
- Open the official Free Games page. Go to the page that lists Epic’s current free offers. Separate the rotating giveaway from permanent free-to-play listings and demos by reading the listing label and description.
- Open the giveaway listing. Select the title that is marked as the current limited-time giveaway. Review the displayed end time and any edition or platform wording before proceeding. The title shown today may not be the title shown after the next rotation.
- Choose the claim action. Select Get, Claim or the equivalent button presented by the storefront. The wording can vary by page layout, but the next screen should show a zero-price order or confirmation rather than a paid total.
- Complete the zero-price checkout. Follow the storefront’s confirmation steps until it reports that the order or entitlement is complete. Do not close the page merely because the price is zero; the account needs a successful confirmation for the game to be attached to the library.
- Verify the library entry. Open your account library and look for the claimed title. If it is present, the account has recorded the entitlement. You do not need to start an installation at this point.
If the page shows a price instead of a zero-price claim, you may be looking at a different edition, a non-giveaway listing or an expired offer. Recheck the Free Games page and the promotion’s displayed status before paying for anything.
What happens after a successful claim
The entitlement is tied to the account
Epic’s support guidance says a claimed game remains permanently available in the account, even when it is not downloaded immediately. In practical terms, the important event is the completed claim recorded in the library, not the date on which you install or first launch the game.
Download when convenient
You can wait until you have enough storage, a suitable connection or time to play. Claiming first and installing later is the safest way to preserve the offer when the promotion is close to ending. The store may still show the title in your library after the giveaway page has rotated to another game.

Keep the account accessible
Because the entitlement is associated with the Epic account, protect the account credentials and retain access to the sign-in and two-factor method you configured. If you later sign in to a different account, its library will not show the earlier claim.

When the weekly window closes
Epic’s stated schedule is a Thursday rotation at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time, with seven days to claim the current title. The exact cutoff is the time shown on the live listing, especially when daylight-saving changes or regional display differences make a clock conversion easy to misread. Claim before the countdown reaches zero; beginning a download is not a substitute for completing the claim.
If you missed the deadline
Epic says an expired title cannot be added for free afterward. There is no retroactive free claim described for a missed window. You can watch the official Free Games page for future promotions and special offers, because a later promotion may feature a different title or, at some point, the same title again. Do not treat an old giveaway page as evidence that the offer is still active.

If you started but did not finish
An abandoned checkout is not the same as a completed claim. Return to the listing while it is still active, complete the confirmation and then verify the library. If the game is absent, the account has not yet given you a reliable record of ownership.

Use Epic’s official Free Games page as your starting point. It is the authoritative location for the current rotating title and the storefront’s own deadline. The page can also contain free-to-play games and demos, so read the individual card or product page instead of assuming that every “free” label represents a limited-time claim.

If a notification conflicts with the official page, follow the official page’s status and countdown.
The title is volatile by design. A page saved today may be inaccurate after the Thursday rotation, and a headline naming a specific game can become stale without warning. Check the live listing immediately before you claim.

Mobile access is an access option, not a separate ownership system. Use the same account if you move between devices, and verify the library after claiming rather than assuming that seeing a confirmation on one device guarantees that another account is signed in.
Troubleshooting a claim
The claim button is missing or the page shows a price
- Confirm that you opened the current rotating giveaway rather than a free-to-play listing or demo.
- Check the displayed end time. If the seven-day window has closed, the free claim has expired.
- Refresh the official Free Games page and reopen the product listing. A stale page can continue to display an earlier state.
- Make sure you are signed in to the intended Epic account before trying again.
Epic asks for two-factor authentication
Stop the checkout and enable two-factor authentication in the account security settings. Return to the giveaway only after the account shows the feature as enabled. Epic lists this as a requirement for claiming, not an optional recommendation.

- Check the account identity again; a second Epic account is the most important possibility to rule out.
- Look for the store’s final order or entitlement confirmation rather than relying on the initial button press.
- Reopen the library after the storefront finishes processing and search for the exact title or edition named in the listing.
- If the promotion is still active, repeat the claim flow from the official page. If it has expired, retain any confirmation information and contact Epic support rather than paying for an offer you believe you already completed.
The game was claimed but will not install immediately
Installation is separate from retention. Epic’s support statement says the claimed game remains in the account even when it is not downloaded right away, so first verify the library entry. Resolve storage, connection or device issues later without treating the end of the giveaway as a loss of the completed claim.
The app is unavailable on a phone or tablet
Epic’s mobile availability differs by platform and region. If the app is not offered for your device or location, use the supported computer storefront to complete the account claim, then check the library through an available access method. Do not infer worldwide iPhone or iPad availability from Android availability.
A low-effort routine that prevents missed claims
- Choose a weekly reminder for Thursday and check it after the stated 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time rotation.
- Open the official Free Games page rather than relying on a cached deal post.
- Identify the rotating giveaway and read its countdown, separating it from free-to-play games and demos.
- Sign in to the account protected by two-factor authentication.
- Complete the zero-price claim and wait for the confirmation.
- Verify the title in the library before leaving the page.
- Install later when you are ready; the claim itself is the time-sensitive step.
