Measure your wrist where the Google Fitbit Edge will sit, then match that circumference to Google’s published band range. The standard Active Band fits wrists measuring 130–170 mm in small and 170–210 mm in large. If you measure exactly 170 mm, both ranges include that boundary, so try both and keep the one that stays secure without pinching.
Which Fitbit Edge band size should you choose?
Measure around your wrist at the spot where you plan to wear the tracker. Use the measurement—not a general label such as “small wrist”—to choose a size. Google lists these fit ranges for Fitbit Edge bands:

These are the ranges in Google’s Fitbit Edge specifications. The standard-band ranges overlap at 170 mm. If that is your measurement, try both sizes and choose the one that rests comfortably against your wrist without sliding excessively or pinching.
The Edge tracker body measures 39.22 × 25.56 mm, is 11.58 mm high, and weighs 17.7 g without the band, according to Google’s specifications. Those dimensions can help you judge how the case will sit on a narrower wrist, but they do not replace the band’s circumference range.

Where should you wear Fitbit Edge?
For everyday wear, position the tracker on top of your wrist like a watch. That is Google’s Edge-specific instruction in its setup help.
Adjust the position for exercise
Google’s general Fitbit Product Care guidance recommends moving the band 2–3 finger widths above the wrist bone during exercise. Keep it in contact with your skin, but do not tighten it enough to feel uncomfortable. After exercising, move it back down and loosen it.

How do you attach and secure the band?
- To put on the band, slide it through the outer loop, press the metal peg into a hole that gives you a comfortable fit, and tuck the loose end in.
- To attach a band to the tracker, press it firmly into the end of the device until it clicks. Google says a band that has not clicked is not secure and the tracker may fall off. The buckle band attaches to the top.
- Gently tug the attached band to check that it is seated securely before wearing the tracker.
Can fit affect Fitbit Edge tracking accuracy?
A secure, comfortable fit is the practical guidance Google provides; it is not a guarantee that a particular size or degree of tightness will improve every health metric. Google says heart-rate sensors work best when they maintain contact with the skin, and advises using a classic band during workouts and sleep. Its accuracy guidance also says loose-fitting accessories, such as bangles or pendants, can produce slightly different step counts than a classic band.
The official guidance does not establish through an independent, Edge-specific comparison that one band size or precise wrist position produces more accurate readings than another. The fit advice should therefore be treated as manufacturer guidance, not a measured accuracy result.

If your step count or distance seems off
Check that the wrist setting reflects the wrist you actually wear the tracker on. Google says the dominant-wrist setting reduces step-count sensitivity to help reduce overcounting, while the non-dominant setting increases sensitivity to help reduce undercounting. These settings are algorithm adjustments, not a fix for every inaccurate reading. Google also recommends checking your profile height and stride-length assumptions when step counts or distance seem wrong. See its accuracy guidance.

Loosen or remove the band if it causes irritation or discomfort. If discomfort continues, give your wrist a break. Google also recommends cleaning and drying both the band and your wrist, particularly after exercise or sweating.
