What “skin-safe” can—and can’t—mean

That figure describes the material examined in those cases; it is not an estimate of how many bindis contain PTBP, how many users are affected, or what current products contain. How to choose an adhesive bindi
- Look for both materials. Check whether the listing identifies the bindi substrate and the adhesive, rather than naming only the decorative surface.
- Check for known allergens. If you have a diagnosed contact allergy, follow your clinician’s avoidance advice and compare the product’s ingredient information with the allergen you need to avoid. If the seller does not disclose the adhesive composition, the listing cannot rule out that ingredient.
- Be cautious with broad safety labels. “Hypoallergenic” is not a risk-free guarantee; the sources cited here do not validate that label for bindis.
- Prefer clear, current seller information. If the manufacturer or seller cannot answer what the adhesive contains, you have less information to judge whether it suits your needs.

What to do if your skin reacts
Contact dermatitis develops where skin meets an irritant or allergen. A reaction is not always immediate: allergic contact dermatitis can take hours or days to appear. How to remove bindi adhesive residue
The sources cited here do not establish a bindi-specific method for removing adhesive residue from facial skin. They do not show that oil, alcohol, acetone, or another solvent is proven safe or effective for this purpose.
