Short answer: choose VS Code with GitHub Copilot if your team already standardizes on VS Code, GitHub repositories, and a broad extension ecosystem. Choose Cursor if you want an AI-first editor whose built-in agents can plan, edit, debug, and review changes across a repository. Choose Google Antigravity if you want a Google, Gemini-oriented agentic platform delivered through a desktop app, terminal client, and editor extensions, with individual and enterprise governance options.
None is universally fastest or most accurate. The practical choice depends on how much you value editor familiarity versus agent autonomy, which models and integrations you need, how your team pays for usage, and what your privacy and audit requirements allow.

What each tool actually is
VS Code with GitHub Copilot: a flexible editor plus an AI service
Visual Studio Code is the extensible host. Its AI behavior comes from the extension or service you select; GitHub Copilot is the documented first-party route for inline suggestions and broader IDE features. This separation matters: the editor, extensions, source-control setup, and AI subscription are related but not the same product.
Recommended Free Tools
GitHub describes its Copilot plugin as providing “the broadest integration with the editor” and recommends it when you want code suggestions and the full set of IDE features. That makes VS Code the least disruptive option for a team that already has shared settings, extensions, debugging profiles, repository policies, and onboarding material built around it.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Cursor: an AI-native editor and repository agent
Cursor is an AI-first code editor. Its documentation centers on repository understanding, plan-and-build workflows, bug fixing, code review, rules, MCP, and integrations. Instead of treating AI as an add-on panel, Cursor puts agentic work—planning a change, touching several files, running through a fix, and reviewing the result—at the center of the editor experience.
That design is useful when a web task is larger than a single completion: for example, adding authentication across routes, updating a shared component and its tests, or tracing a failing build through multiple packages. You still review the diff and run your own checks; an agent is not a substitute for those controls.
Google Antigravity: a Google agentic platform with multiple clients
Google Antigravity is delivered as a desktop application, a terminal client, and extensions for VS Code and other editors. It is oriented around Google’s Gemini model access and adds individual Free, Pro, and Ultra tiers alongside enterprise governance options. That makes it less of a single editor replacement and more of an agentic development platform that can meet developers where they already work.

Choose by the work you do every day
Choose VS Code with Copilot when consistency is the product
Stay with VS Code when your organization has standardized on its workspace settings, dev containers, debugging profiles, linters, test runners, and extension policies. Keeping one editor reduces migration work and avoids asking every contributor to relearn shortcuts, terminal layouts, and review habits.

This route is also sensible when most AI help is local and incremental: completing a function, suggesting the next edit, explaining a symbol, generating a test, or helping with a focused refactor. Copilot’s documented integration is especially valuable when your repositories, permissions, pull requests, and issue tracking already live in GitHub.
Do not assume that “VS Code” alone determines AI quality. Compare the specific Copilot plan, extension version, enabled models, organization policy, and context settings your team will use.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesChoose Cursor when agents must change a repository, not just a line
Cursor is the stronger fit when you regularly ask AI to inspect a codebase, make a plan, edit several files, run or interpret checks, and propose a reviewable patch. Its documented rules and repository understanding let you encode conventions such as component patterns, naming, testing requirements, or “never edit generated files.”
That power introduces a review obligation. An agent that can modify many files can also spread a mistaken assumption across many files. Require a clean diff, run the project’s formatter and tests, and keep changes in a branch or separate commit so you can revert them quickly.
Choose Antigravity when platform reach and Google governance matter
Antigravity is a candidate when you want one Google-oriented agent experience available in an app, terminal, and editor extensions, rather than committing every contributor to a new editor. It can also fit organizations that need enterprise governance or want to extend an AI workflow beyond a single IDE.

Check the boundary between individual and enterprise offerings. Google’s documented privacy statement that code, prompts, and agent transcripts are never used to train Google foundation models applies to the documented enterprise offering; do not automatically extend that guarantee to every individual tier.
React and Next.js: a practical selection
All three can support React or Next.js because the framework work happens in a repository with a package manager, TypeScript or JavaScript, a test stack, and a build tool. The differentiator is how you want AI to interact with that repository.
- Use VS Code with Copilot when your team relies on established React/Next.js extensions, shared workspace settings, GitHub pull requests, and predictable inline help.
- Use Cursor when a request routinely spans routes, server and client components, shared types, tests, and configuration. Start with a plan, constrain the files it may change, and inspect the resulting diff.
- Use Antigravity when Gemini-oriented assistance, terminal access, or an organization-wide Google platform is more important than standardizing on one editor.
For any option, provide the agent with the project’s actual commands and constraints: the package-manager scripts, supported Node.js version, lint and test commands, environment-variable rules, and whether server actions or API routes have security requirements. An AI tool cannot infer secrets, deployment assumptions, or undocumented conventions safely.
Inline completion versus autonomous agents
When completion is enough
Inline completion is efficient for boilerplate, repetitive JSX, type definitions, small adapters, and straightforward tests. It keeps the developer in the loop and limits the blast radius of a wrong suggestion. GitHub states that code completions and next-edit suggestions are not billed in AI Credits and remain unlimited for all paid plans, although other Copilot features can consume credits under the applicable plan.
When an agent saves time
Use an agent for a bounded, verifiable objective: “add pagination to this endpoint and update its tests,” or “migrate these components to the shared button API.” Ask for a plan before edits, define acceptance checks, and keep the task small enough that a reviewer can understand every changed file.

How to evaluate quality without a misleading benchmark
There is no reproducible evidence here that one product is universally fastest or most accurate. Measure your own representative tasks instead:
- Choose five to ten real tasks covering UI work, API work, tests, debugging, and a cross-cutting refactor.
- Record time to a reviewable patch, number of manual corrections, test failures, and files changed.
- Run the same repository state, commands, and acceptance criteria for each tool.
- Include latency and interruption cost, not only the final code. A slower response that produces a correct plan may beat a fast suggestion that requires extensive repair.
- Have a human review security-sensitive changes separately from ordinary code quality.
Pricing, credits, and overage behavior
AI-editor pricing is not directly comparable because providers meter different actions. Check the current plan page before purchase; prices, model rosters, credits, privacy terms, and regional availability change.
| Product and tier information | What is stated | What you must verify |
|---|---|---|
| Cursor Pro | Includes $20 of API agent usage plus additional bonus usage. | Current subscription price, eligible models, bonus-usage rules, and what happens after included usage. |
| Cursor Pro Plus | Includes $70 of API agent usage. | Current price, bonus or overage terms, and whether your workload consumes the allowance quickly. |
| Cursor Ultra | Includes $400 of API agent usage. | Current price, model availability, and overage controls. |
| Cursor Teams | Listed at $40 per user per month on Cursor’s current pricing page, accessed October 20, 2026. | Billing period, seat administration, retention, audit, and policy features in the current team agreement. |
| GitHub Copilot | AI Credit allowances vary by Copilot plan. Completions and next-edit suggestions are unlimited for paid plans and are not billed in AI Credits. | Your plan’s credit amount, which agent or premium requests consume credits, and any limits or purchasing options for additional usage. |
| Google Antigravity | Individual Free, Pro, and Ultra tiers are documented, with plan limits and optional credits or overages depending on the offering. | Exact prices, quotas, model access, overage rates, regional availability, and enterprise contract terms. |
For budgeting, estimate requests by workflow rather than by developer count alone. A team that mostly uses inline completion may have very different costs from one that runs repository-wide agents all day. Set usage alerts, cap optional overages where possible, and document who may enable higher-cost models.

“Safe for private source code” is not a single product label. It is a decision about the plan, data path, retention period, model-training terms, telemetry, identity controls, and your own code-handling policy.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Plan scope: distinguish individual, team, and enterprise terms. An enterprise guarantee does not automatically cover a personal subscription.
- Training use: read whether prompts, source code, outputs, and agent transcripts may be used to train models. Record the exact wording and effective date.
- Retention: check how long prompts, files, logs, and transcripts remain available and whether administrators can set retention.
- Telemetry: identify diagnostic data, usage analytics, extension telemetry, and crash reports. Decide what your organization permits.
- Model routing: understand which provider receives a request when you switch models or enable an integration.
- Secrets: exclude environment files, credentials, customer data, and production dumps from indexing and prompts. Rotate any secret pasted into a chat.
- Identity and audit: require organization-managed accounts, single sign-on, access removal, logs, and policy enforcement when your compliance program needs them.
- Human review: treat generated code as untrusted until it passes your security, license, test, and code-review controls.
Google’s Antigravity enterprise documentation states: “Your code, prompts, and agent transcripts are never used to train Google foundation models.” Treat that as an enterprise-path statement and verify the agreement for your account. For VS Code with Copilot and Cursor, read the current applicable individual or organizational terms rather than relying on the editor’s name.

Setup paths that minimize disruption
VS Code with GitHub Copilot
- Install the current VS Code release approved by your organization.
- Sign in with the GitHub account or managed organization identity that owns the Copilot entitlement.
- Install and enable the GitHub Copilot extension your organization approves.
- Open a representative repository and confirm that completions, chat, and any agent features obey the repository’s policy.
- Configure workspace exclusions for secrets, generated files, vendor directories, and large artifacts.
- Run the project’s formatter, linter, type checker, and tests after accepting a generated change.
Cursor
- Install Cursor and import only the settings and extensions you have reviewed.
- Sign in to the intended individual or team account and inspect the current model and usage settings.
- Open a repository, allow indexing only for files appropriate to the project, and add rules for architecture, testing, and generated content.
- Ask the agent for a written plan before a multi-file change.
- Review the proposed file list, apply the change on a branch, and run the project’s normal checks.
- Use the review workflow to inspect the final diff, then commit in a small, revertible unit.
Google Antigravity
- Choose the client that matches your workflow: desktop app, terminal client, or an editor extension.
- Select the Free, Pro, Ultra, or enterprise path only after confirming model access, quotas, and region.
- Authenticate with the correct personal or managed Google identity.
- Configure repository boundaries, exclusions, and organization policies before indexing proprietary code.
- Test a small, non-sensitive task in the app or terminal, then compare the extension experience in your preferred editor.
- Document usage limits, credit or overage settings, and the escalation path for policy or security incidents.
Common failure modes and fixes
The agent changes too much
Limit the task, request a plan, specify allowed directories, and apply the work in a branch. Reject unrelated formatting churn before review.
Generated code passes a local build but violates the architecture
Add repository rules describing module boundaries, data-fetching conventions, error handling, and test requirements. Ask for a file-by-file explanation and have an owner review the design, not just the syntax.
Usage runs out unexpectedly
Inspect which actions consume credits or API allowance. Prefer inline completion for small edits, reserve high-cost agent requests for multi-file work, set alerts, and disable optional overages until the team understands its baseline.
Private material appears in context
Stop the request, remove the material, rotate exposed credentials, and check indexing and retention settings. Update repository exclusions and team policy before resuming.
Switching editors breaks the workflow
Keep the existing editor as the default while piloting the alternative on one repository. Export only necessary settings, preserve the same command-line checks, and compare review outcomes before a wider migration.
A low-risk way to decide
- Map your baseline: list editor extensions, Git provider, issue tracker, frameworks, test commands, and compliance requirements.
- Classify your AI work: mark tasks as inline completion, focused chat, or repository-wide agent work.
- Shortlist: start with VS Code plus Copilot for continuity, Cursor for agent depth, or Antigravity for Google platform reach and governance.
- Pilot on real work: use the same React, Next.js, API, debugging, and refactoring tasks for each candidate.
- Measure: record reviewable-patch time, corrections, test results, latency, credit use, and security findings.
- Approve deliberately: publish the allowed plans, models, repositories, exclusions, retention settings, and human-review requirements.
The final choice should be explicit about trade-offs. VS Code with Copilot minimizes disruption; Cursor maximizes built-in repository-agent capability; Antigravity maximizes access to a Google-centered agent platform across clients. Reassess when pricing, model availability, privacy terms, or your team’s workflow changes.
