Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor occasional questions, start with Free. Plus is the least expensive paid option when the free allowance is too restrictive. Premium is the first new tier that includes Grok Bot and combines the broader X and Cursor bundle. Super and Ultra are justified only when your regular workload can consume their much larger shared usage pools.
These are practical recommendations based on xAI’s published October 2026 prices and plan descriptions, not independent performance testing. Your actual choice should depend on how often you use Grok and Cursor, whether you need Grok Bot, and how much value you place on the included X features.

What changed in October 2026
New self-serve customers are offered The X Subscription, a bundle that brings Grok, Cursor and X together. It is not simply a Grok chatbot plan with several payment levels. The paid tiers combine AI usage with different X benefits, while the included allowance is shared across eligible first-party Grok and Cursor activity.
xAI announced the new bundle on October 2, 2026, and its pricing documentation was current on October 13, 2026. Product terms, prices and allowances can change, so treat the figures below as the published US list prices at that point rather than a permanent price guarantee.
#1 Best Overall
The most important distinction is Grok Bot access. The pricing documentation includes Grok Bot on Premium, Super and Ultra, but not Plus. Grok Bot draws from the same eligible usage pool as other covered Grok and Cursor activity.
Current plans, prices and included usage
| Plan | List price | Included usage | Notable published benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 monthly or annually | Limited usage | Daily Grok access, a starter allowance for Cursor coding agents and standard X |
| Plus | $8/month or $80/year | Base usage | More Grok and Cursor usage than Free, a checkmark, creator tools and fewer ads on X; no Grok Bot |
| Premium | $30/month or $300/year | 4× Plus usage | Grok Bot, SuperGrok benefits, Cursor Pro benefits and X Premium+ benefits |
| Super | $100/month or $1,000/year | 15× Plus usage | Grok Bot and the larger allowance associated with this tier |
| Ultra | $200/month or $2,000/year | 50× Plus usage | Grok Bot and the largest listed allowance |
The usage multipliers are vendor-published included-usage ratios. They do not promise a fixed number of prompts, images or coding tasks. xAI directs customers to the live account view for remaining usage and reset timing, because consumption depends on what you do.
Prices are before sales tax where tax applies. Localized prices, taxes and payment-platform charges can change the amount shown at checkout.
Which plan fits your workload?
Free: the right starting point for occasional use
Choose Free when you ask questions intermittently, use Grok for quick explanations or drafts, or want to evaluate whether it fits your routine before paying. The plan provides daily Grok access, a starter allowance for Cursor coding agents and standard X at no charge.
Free is not an unlimited tier. Its allowance is limited, and the official documentation does not publish a universal message count. Two people can reach a limit at different times because their requests consume the pool differently. Check your account’s live usage display rather than relying on a number quoted elsewhere.
Free is also a sensible baseline for people who use only one of the bundled products. If you rarely use Cursor and do not need X’s paid features, paying for unused capacity is difficult to justify.
Plus: the lowest-cost paid step
Plus costs $8 per month or $80 per year and supplies more usage across Grok and Cursor than Free. It is the natural upgrade when you regularly hit the free limit but do not need Grok Bot or the larger X bundle.

Rank #2
At $80 annually, the arithmetic average is about $6.67 per month before tax. That is an average of the published annual total, not a separately advertised monthly rate. Compare the annual commitment with your likely months of use before selecting it.
Premium: the first tier with Grok Bot
Premium costs $30 per month or $300 per year and is listed at 4× the Plus included usage. It is the first new tier that includes Grok Bot. The launch description also bundles SuperGrok benefits, Cursor Pro benefits and X Premium+ benefits.
Premium makes the most sense when at least two parts of the bundle are useful: for example, you use Grok heavily and also want Cursor Pro capabilities or X Premium+ features. If you want only occasional chatbot access, the jump from $8 to $30 per month may buy capacity you will not consume.

The annual price averages about $25 per month before tax. That calculation divides $300 by 12; it does not indicate that xAI sells a separate $25 monthly plan.
Super: for sustained, high-volume work
Super is $100 per month or $1,000 per year, with 15× the Plus included usage. It includes Grok Bot, but the principal reason to choose it is the much larger shared pool.
Consider Super only when your normal Grok-and-Cursor workload repeatedly approaches lower-tier limits. A large allowance has no practical value if your activity is occasional. The annual total averages about $83.33 per month before tax, while the monthly option avoids a year-long commitment.
Ultra: the maximum listed allowance
Ultra is $200 per month or $2,000 per year and is listed at 50× Plus usage. It also includes Grok Bot. This tier is aimed at users whose sustained workload can genuinely use the largest pool, not at someone seeking a minor convenience upgrade.

The annual total averages about $166.67 per month before tax. Before choosing Ultra, monitor your account over representative weeks and confirm that lower tiers are actually constraining your work. Paying for theoretical headroom is not the same as using it.

How the shared Grok and Cursor allowance works
Eligible first-party Grok and Cursor usage draws from a shared pool. Using one service can therefore reduce the allowance available to the other during the relevant usage period. A week of intensive Cursor agent work can leave less capacity for Grok, and a heavy Grok workload can have the reverse effect.
Third-party models used in Cursor are not included in this allowance. Do not assume that every Cursor request, regardless of model, consumes the bundled xAI pool or that the published multipliers cover third-party model charges.
Why a fixed prompt count is misleading
The documentation describes a usage pool and points you to your live account view for remaining capacity and reset timing. It does not establish a single message limit that applies to every account or request type. Long, complex tasks can consume capacity differently from short questions, and switching between Grok and Cursor changes which product is drawing on the pool.

- Open the account usage view and note how quickly your allowance is being consumed.
- Record whether the limit is reached while using Grok, Cursor or both.
- Check the displayed reset timing so you know whether a temporary spike or a recurring workload is the problem.
- Verify whether the work uses first-party included models or third-party Cursor models.
This observation is more reliable than choosing a tier from a claimed number of daily prompts.
Monthly and annual cost comparison
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Annual-price monthly average | Increase over Plus monthly list price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| Plus | $8 | $80 | About $6.67 | Baseline |
| Premium | $30 | $300 | $25 | $22 |
| Super | $100 | $1,000 | About $83.33 | $92 |
| Ultra | $200 | $2,000 | About $166.67 | $192 |
The averages in the last column are arithmetic from xAI’s published annual totals. They are useful for comparing commitment levels, but taxes and localized checkout prices can alter the amount you pay.
There is no separate Grok-only price in this new self-serve structure. Evaluate the subscription as a bundle: AI usage, Grok Bot eligibility, Cursor features and X benefits together.
A practical decision process
- Start with Free. Use it for your normal tasks rather than an artificial stress test. Confirm that daily access and the starter Cursor allowance cover your routine.
- Watch the live allowance. When you approach a limit, note which product consumed it and when the pool resets. Do not infer a universal message count from one week.
- Move to Plus if capacity is the only problem. At $8 monthly or $80 annually, it is the least expensive paid increase. Confirm that you can live without Grok Bot.
- Choose Premium when the bundle is valuable. Select it when Grok Bot, the 4× Plus allowance and the included SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ benefits justify the $30 monthly or $300 annual price.
- Consider Super or Ultra only for recurring high usage. Super provides 15× Plus usage at $100 monthly; Ultra provides 50× at $200. Upgrade when your measured workload repeatedly needs that headroom.
- Review the checkout screen. Confirm currency, tax, billing interval, total charge and the features shown for your account. Prices and terms can change.
Examples of common user situations
You ask a few questions each week
Free is usually sufficient. Its daily access lets you use Grok when needed without creating a recurring charge. Upgrade only if the live allowance interrupts a repeated task.
You use Grok most days and occasionally code in Cursor
Try Free long enough to see whether Grok and Cursor compete for the same pool in your routine. If they do, Plus is the first paid option to examine. It increases included usage but still excludes Grok Bot.
You specifically want Grok Bot
Skip Plus for this requirement. Premium is the first new tier that includes Grok Bot; Super and Ultra also include it with larger allowances.
You run sustained coding-agent and Grok workloads
Compare your usage history with the published multipliers. Premium’s 4× Plus allowance may be enough, while Super’s 15× or Ultra’s 50× makes sense only when lower pools repeatedly constrain work. Remember that third-party Cursor models are outside the included allowance.
You mainly want X features
Compare the X benefits attached to the new bundle with what you already receive and with your current X account. Do not assume that the new Premium tier’s name means it has the same price or terms as legacy X Premium.

The October 2026 launch does not require existing SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium subscribers to switch. xAI says existing subscribers can keep their current plan, price and features unless they change or cancel, and switching is optional.
There are three names to keep separate:
- The X Subscription Premium: the new $30-per-month or $300-per-year tier that includes Grok Bot and the bundled benefits described above.
- Legacy X Premium: an older X subscription with its own pricing and feature terms.
- Legacy SuperGrok: an earlier Grok subscription that existing customers may retain.
Before changing an existing plan, open your billing page and read the account-unification terms presented there. A switch can change the bundle, renewal price or feature set even when the names look similar.
Legacy X Premium prices are a separate table
X’s legacy FAQ lists these US web starting prices: Basic at $3 per month or $32 per year, Premium at $8 per month or $84 per year, and Premium+ at $40 per month or $395 per year. These figures are not the price table for The X Subscription tiers.
X also says localized prices vary by market, taxes and payment platform. Use the checkout page for your region to determine the amount that will actually be charged.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming Free has a fixed daily message count
The published terms describe limited usage, not one universal prompt number. Check the live account meter and reset time instead.
Best Value
Buying Plus for Grok Bot
Plus does not include Grok Bot. Premium is the first new tier that does.
Treating the multipliers as guaranteed output
“4×,” “15×” and “50×” describe included usage relative to Plus. They do not guarantee a set number of chats, images or coding-agent runs.
Forgetting that Grok and Cursor share capacity
Plan for both products together. Intensive use of one can reduce what remains for the other.
Counting third-party Cursor models as included
The bundled allowance covers eligible first-party Grok and Cursor usage. Third-party models in Cursor are outside it.
Comparing the new Premium name with legacy X Premium
They are different products with different prices and terms. Check which subscription appears in your account before comparing benefits.
Ignoring tax and localization
The listed prices are US-dollar list prices before applicable sales tax. Your checkout total can differ because of tax, region or payment platform.
Annual-billing without checking commitment
Annual totals lower the arithmetic monthly average, but they require an annual purchase. Choose monthly billing when you are still measuring whether the tier fits.

How to change plans safely
- Sign in to the account that owns your Grok, Cursor or X subscription.
- Open the subscription or billing page and identify whether you have The X Subscription or a legacy plan.
- Review the displayed allowance, Grok Bot eligibility and included X or Cursor benefits for the target tier.
- Check the billing interval, renewal date, currency, taxes and total charge.
- Read any account-unification or migration language before confirming a switch.
- After changing plans, return to the usage view and verify the new allowance and reset information.
If the new plan does not appear immediately, rely on the billing page and account status rather than purchasing a second subscription. Existing subscribers should contact the relevant account support channel if the displayed plan, price or features do not match their confirmation.
Bottom line: match the pool to real use
Free is the default for casual users. Plus is the economical answer when you need more capacity but not Grok Bot. Premium is the first choice to evaluate when Grok Bot and the broader Cursor/X bundle matter. Super and Ultra are specialist tiers for sustained workloads that can actually use 15× or 50× Plus capacity.
Measure your activity in the account, remember that Grok and eligible Cursor use the same pool, distinguish new and legacy subscriptions, and confirm the live checkout total before paying. Those checks matter more than any generic claim about how many messages a plan “should” provide.
