How to Choose a YouTube Loop Service for Long Video Files

A practical guide to choosing a YouTube loop service for long recordings: compare source-file limits, total runtime, automation, formats, and replay needs.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Choose a service by checking the size and length of each source file, whether it can schedule and automatically loop a prerecorded event, and the maximum total broadcast duration. Those are separate limits: YouTube’s own upload ceiling does not tell you what a third-party service accepts or how long it can stream. If you only need an on-demand video, direct YouTube upload may be enough: verified accounts can upload videos longer than 15 minutes, up to 256 GB or 12 hours per video, whichever is less. A scheduled looping livestream requires a separate workflow.

Compare the workflows before comparing services

“Looping a video on YouTube” can mean several different things. A studio may repeat a clip while you keep the studio open; a live studio may share a local file; or a cloud service may schedule a prerecorded event and repeat it without you operating a studio. These are not interchangeable. For unattended broadcasts, confirm that the service explicitly supports scheduled prerecorded streaming and looping.

Service or workflow What its documentation says Limits and practical implications
StreamNeo Cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos or a playlist. One always-on stream per slot; uploaded video is streamed as made, up to 4K 60fps. See StreamNeo for details. The service information provided here does not state a per-file size or source-duration ceiling, so confirm that your files fit before choosing it.
YouTube direct upload Upload a video for on-demand viewing. Verified accounts can upload videos longer than 15 minutes. The maximum is 256 GB or 12 hours, whichever is less. This is not, by itself, a scheduled looping live event. For uploads over 20 GB, YouTube advises using a current browser; it also recommends H.264 compression to reduce file size.
Restream prerecorded event Upload and schedule a prerecorded video or playlist, with looping enabled. Restream’s help article, dated March 11, 2026, says looping can be set up to 10 times and the total stream can run up to 40 hours. It describes looping as a paid feature. The reviewed article does not state a source-file upload ceiling; check current eligibility and file limits before subscribing.
StreamYard prerecorded streaming Upload a video for automated prerecorded streaming. Its help pages list 10 GB for Core and Advanced, and 25 GB for Teams and Business. Listed source-duration limits are 2 hours for Core, 4 hours for Advanced, and 8 hours for Teams and Business. The format guidance recommends MP4 or MOV with H.264 video and AAC audio; specifications depend on plan.
StreamYard studio long-form sharing Share a local MP4 or MOV file inside a live studio. StreamYard says this feature has no file-size or length limit, but the file is not saved to the account and must be added again after leaving or refreshing the studio. It is not the same as a cloud upload for a scheduled, automatically rebroadcast event.
StreamYard clip looping Repeat a video clip in a studio until manually stopped. Useful for a clip or holding visual while operating the studio; do not assume it automatically loops a long-form cloud event.

These are published product-documentation limits, not independent performance tests. Plan names, entitlements, and service limits can change; confirm them on the provider’s current help or pricing pages before paying.

Choose by the constraints that can stop your stream

1. File size

Check the actual file size against the service’s upload ceiling, not YouTube’s separate direct-upload limit. YouTube allows up to 256 GB for a direct upload, subject to the 12-hour maximum. StreamYard’s documented prerecorded-upload limits are 10 GB or 25 GB depending on plan. The reviewed Restream looping documentation does not specify its source-file ceiling. The StreamNeo information presented here does not specify a per-file limit, so ask StreamNeo if your file size is a deciding factor.

2. Source-video duration

Distinguish the duration of one uploaded file from the total event duration after repeats. StreamYard lists source-duration limits from 2 to 8 hours by plan. Restream documents a total looping stream of up to 40 hours, but the reviewed pages do not establish its source-file duration limit. Ask about both limits when a single recording is long or the playlist contains multiple items.

3. Automation and where the file lives

If the event must start or continue while you are away, look for a documented scheduled prerecorded-event feature. A local file shared in a studio depends on that studio workflow, and StreamYard says the file is not saved to your account. A studio clip loop that must be stopped manually is likewise different from an automatically scheduled cloud event.

4. Loop count and maximum broadcast time

Calculate the planned event length from the source duration and number of plays, then compare it with the provider’s total event ceiling. Restream documents up to 10 loops and up to 40 hours total. Its article does not establish that every video can reach that ceiling: source-file and plan constraints may also apply.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Whether you need a YouTube replay archive

Restream’s help page says YouTube archives streams under 12 hours. YouTube’s archive behavior and a particular event’s replay availability can change or depend on event details, so verify current YouTube guidance and test the exact workflow before relying on a saved replay.

When using an adapter, if the device is recognized as USB 2.0, try using the other side with the USB-C port. Simply flip the capture card and reconnect it to be recognized as USB 3.0

6. Format, encoding, and upload time

For StreamYard prerecorded uploads, the format guidance recommends MP4 or MOV, H.264 video, and AAC audio, with plan-dependent specifications. YouTube recommends H.264 compression to reduce file size while maintaining quality. Compression can make a large file easier to upload, but check the resulting image and audio before scheduling an important event.

A practical selection checklist

  • Measure your source: note each file’s size, duration, format, and whether the broadcast uses one video or a playlist.
  • Confirm source limits: get the provider’s current per-file size and duration limits for the plan you intend to use.
  • Confirm the workflow: establish whether it schedules a prerecorded event in the cloud, requires an open studio, or only loops a clip while you operate the studio.
  • Work out total runtime: multiply the intended plays by source duration, accounting for playlist length, and compare with the service’s maximum event duration and loop count.
  • Check the YouTube outcome: verify whether the event is live, whether a replay archive is expected, and how long the event can run if the archive matters.
  • Check current plan eligibility and price: the documentation limits summarized above do not establish current prices or every plan entitlement.

Uploading directly to YouTube is not the same as looping live

For an on-demand video, YouTube’s own upload may be the simplest path. YouTube says verified accounts can upload videos longer than 15 minutes, up to 256 GB or 12 hours per video, whichever is less. For oversized uploads, it advises using a current browser when the file is above 20 GB and recommends H.264 compression. An uploaded video does not automatically become a scheduled livestream or repeat continuously; select a service that documents that separate capability if that is the goal.

Check content rights and YouTube rules

A looping service only handles the broadcast workflow; it does not grant rights to the video or audio. Before scheduling, make sure you have permission to use every component of the recording, including music and other people’s footage, and review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization rules. Repeating a recording does not make copyrighted material permissible, nor does a live presentation guarantee monetization eligibility.
