Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallTo choose a VPN for streaming, check whether it currently works with the exact service, country, and device you use. Then compare connection speed and stability, app support, and privacy practices. No VPN can guarantee access to a particular catalog: streaming services may detect VPN or proxy traffic, limit available titles, or require you to turn the VPN off.
Start with the streaming service, region, and device you actually use
VPNs change the route your internet traffic takes and can change the apparent location of your IP address. That does not guarantee access to a particular streaming catalog. Netflix says viewers using a VPN may see only titles licensed worldwide, and its help page identifies VPN or proxy use as a possible cause of error M7037-1111: Netflix’s VPN and proxy guidance.

Compatibility is specific to the platform and can change. The official evidence here documents Netflix’s rules; it does not establish that every streaming service handles VPN connections the same way. Before choosing a provider, check its current compatibility claims for your exact service and target region, and treat those claims as claims—not independent proof of reliable access.
Compare the factors that determine whether streaming works well
| What to check | Why it matters | How to assess it |
|---|---|---|
| Access to your service and region | A VPN that works with one platform or catalog may not work with another; access can change as services detect or restrict VPN traffic. | Look for current information specific to the platform and country you need. Verify with the service and device you plan to use. |
| Device and app support | You need a usable VPN app for the device that plays your shows. Some VPNs also offer app exclusions. | Check that the provider supports your streaming device and review how its app handles exclusions, if available. |
| Speed and connection stability | Streaming quality depends on how the VPN connection performs alongside your broadband connection and device. | Assess performance in your own setup, using the streaming service, device, and VPN location you intend to use. Marketing claims are not independent performance tests. |
| Privacy and security | Your traffic is routed through servers controlled by the VPN provider, so the provider’s practices matter. | Review its privacy policy, encryption information, app permissions, reputation, and whether it shares data with third parties. The FTC’s VPN guidance explains these checks. |
Check whether your plan or streaming feature permits a VPN
Netflix says VPN connections are unsupported for live events and ad-supported plans. If you use either, check the platform’s current rules before relying on a VPN. Rules can differ by service and may change.

Understand the tradeoff when excluding a streaming app
Some VPN apps let you exclude a particular app from the VPN route while leaving other apps routed through it. This is sometimes called split tunneling or an app exclusion. Mozilla describes this option for Mozilla VPN, but it is not a feature to assume every VPN offers: Mozilla’s explanation of split tunneling.
If you exclude your streaming app, its traffic no longer receives the VPN’s protection. That may help when a service requires a direct connection, but it also means that app connects outside the VPN. Check the VPN app’s documentation and decide whether that tradeoff fits your needs.

What to do when Netflix detects a VPN or proxy
Netflix describes error M7037-1111 this way: “This message means your device or network connects to Netflix through a VPN or proxy service.” Its error guidance recommends checking whether a VPN is enabled. It also explains how to use Fast.com’s “Show more info” connection test to inspect the client country.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Check whether the VPN is enabled on the device or network you use for Netflix.
- If needed, use Fast.com’s “Show more info” option, as Netflix recommends, to inspect the client country.
- If the VPN is on, follow Netflix’s current troubleshooting guidance. If your VPN offers app exclusions, you can consider excluding Netflix, knowing that the app’s traffic will no longer pass through the VPN.
A detection message does not by itself prove that the VPN is defective. Netflix may be restricting traffic it identifies as coming through a VPN or proxy.

Retest before depending on a VPN for streaming
Access can be volatile, so a successful check at one time is not a lasting guarantee. Test the service on the device and connection you plan to use, and recheck if the platform, VPN app, or streaming plan changes. Choose based on your own access, stability, device support, and privacy requirements rather than a universal ranking: there is no basis here for naming one VPN as reliably best across providers, platforms, regions, and devices.
