What “long-term support” should mean before you buy
A robot vacuum can receive security patches while some connected features change or become unavailable. Conversely, an app may continue receiving updates without a published commitment for every robot model. Check four distinct things: device security updates, app maintenance, cloud-service continuity, and what the vacuum can do without internet.

- Security updates: protection against vulnerabilities, often stated as a minimum period or an end date for eligible devices.
- App maintenance: updates to the phone app, which may have a different scope or timeline from robot firmware.
- Cloud service: the account and online systems that may enable remote control, map storage, history, notifications, schedules, or software delivery.
- Offline operation: controls and cleaning functions that remain usable if Wi-Fi or the manufacturer’s service is unavailable.
Do not treat a security-update date as an app shutdown date or as a guarantee that cloud features will remain available until then.

Use this checklist for the exact model and region
- Identify the precise model and market. Record the full retail model or SKU and the country where it will be sold. Support terms and eligible-device lists can vary by region and model.
- Find the security policy and its scope. Check when coverage starts, whether the named model is included, and whether the policy gives a minimum period or a specific end date. Save a copy or screenshot of the applicable policy.
- Look separately for app and cloud commitments. Confirm which app and region a stated app-update period covers. Ask whether remote access, maps, history, notifications, scheduling, and firmware updates have a separate continuity commitment.
- Check phone compatibility by feature. Confirm supported operating-system and app versions, region, language, and whether the features you want work with that robot generation. A compatibility list for one feature does not establish compatibility for all features.
- Ask what works offline. Get model-specific answers about onboard buttons, cleaning modes, saved maps, schedules, and local integrations. Do not assume that a model’s behavior matches another vacuum from the same brand.
- Check the non-software support route. Review warranty terms, repair options, parts availability, and customer-service coverage for your market.
If a retailer or manufacturer cannot give a dated functional-cloud commitment, treat the feature as dependent on an ongoing service rather than as guaranteed for a particular number of years. Keep any written answer with your purchase records.

What manufacturers publish—and what those statements cover
The policies below are useful starting points, not a like-for-like ranking. They differ in region, eligibility, start date, and whether they cover device security or app updates. None of the cited policy statements establishes a universal end date for every model’s cloud functions.

Because these commitments cover different things and do not establish matching functional-cloud timelines, they do not support naming one brand the universal long-term support winner.
What connected features can depend on cloud access?
iRobot’s troubleshooting guidance says that cloud-connection failures can make remote connection, cleaning history and Clean Map reports, smart-map creation on supported models, and software updates unavailable. That is guidance about a connection failure, not proof that every Roomba model behaves identically. For any brand, check whether the vacuum can start a basic cleaning cycle from onboard controls if the app or internet connection is unavailable. Also ask whether maps and schedules are stored on the robot, in the app, or in the cloud. The available manufacturer information does not provide a consistent cross-brand answer to those offline questions.

Check app and phone compatibility feature by feature
Compatibility can differ by robot model, firmware, app version, feature, language, and region. iRobot’s compatibility documentation, for example, distinguishes features such as smart maps, Clean Map reports, push notifications, Alexa, Google Assistant, and IFTTT across models and software versions; availability and language support can also vary by region. Check the entry for the feature you plan to use rather than relying on a general statement that an app supports a brand. iRobot app compatibility information
Xiaomi’s Robot Vacuum T12 product page describes app-based remote control, cleaning-progress monitoring, scheduling, and online and OTA updates. It says the app may be called Mi Home or Xiaomi Home depending on region and gives an iOS compatibility statement tied to the cited app version. How to read current support statements
iRobot / Roomba
iRobot says it plans to continue customer service, applicable software updates, and warranty coverage for current products. It also says there are no planned changes affecting app functionality or data security. These are current statements, not a dated end-of-support guarantee for each model. iRobot product-support statement

Roborock
The US and UK policies have different regional scopes. The UK page lists type designations and dates, but the retail-model mapping for those designations is not established here; it also says patch timing may vary by region and model. ECOVACS
The UK policy distinguishes security updates for certain device models from ECOVACS HOME app update services. It notes regional and model variation, and its displayed device table had no model rows when checked. Xiaomi

- Is this exact model and regional SKU on your security-update list, and what is the start point or stated end date?
- Does the published period cover the robot, the app, or both?
- Is there a separate commitment for account login, remote control, maps, cleaning history, schedules, notifications, and firmware delivery?
- Which features can I use from the robot itself without internet, and what happens to saved maps and schedules?
- Which phone operating systems, app versions, regions, and languages support the features I want?
- Where can I get repairs, parts, warranty service, and customer support in my country?
Ask for answers in writing when the policy is unclear. A dated security policy is valuable, but it cannot substitute for a model-specific answer about app and cloud continuity.
