In the unofficial Node.js package aa-daily-reflections, English (en) is the documented default; Spanish (es) and French (fr) are the other documented language options. To choose a reading date, use a numeric month and day—such as getReflection(6, 25) for June 25. The documented method does not accept a year.
Choose between the API and command line
The README documents two ways to request a reflection: use the JavaScript API when your program needs structured result fields, or use the CLI for a terminal command. The examples below reproduce the README’s documented usage; they are not independent runtime tests. See the package README.

Set the language

Pass a language code when creating DailyReflections, or call setLanguage() before a later request. The README’s examples show the constructor approach and changing the language on an instance:

The README illustrates a Spanish reading for today and a French reading for a chosen date:

For the API, call getReflection(month, day) with numeric month and day. The README gives June 25 as getReflection(6, 25). The documented signature has no year parameter, so it does not show how to request a year-specific edition. Package README.
For the CLI, the documented date example is -d 12/24. It selects month and day; the README does not document a year argument in that example. For the current day’s Spanish reading, its example is aa-daily -l es.

These fields can help a program display the date and reading content or handle the returned values in its own interface. The README documents the shape; it does not independently verify the current behavior of the API. Package README.
Validate dates and handle errors separately
Check that the requested month and day form a valid calendar date before making a request. The README specifically uses February 30 to illustrate invalid-date handling. It also discusses network/API fetch failures, which are a different problem from invalid input. Package README.

- Invalid date: reject impossible month/day combinations, such as February 30, before treating the result as a fetch problem.
- Network or API failure: handle request failures separately; a valid date does not guarantee a successful fetch.
Understand the package’s status and content limits
The project maintainer, Fernando Paladini, describes the library in the README as: “This is an unofficial library and comes with no guarantees.” The README identifies the readings as copyrighted by Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc., asks users to avoid excessive requests, and describes personal, educational, and recovery-support purposes. Those statements do not establish AA endorsement, upstream API terms, or permission to republish or distribute readings. Package README.
If you prefer a physical option, the AA Cleveland literature store lists Daily Reflections (Large Print) as a General Service Conference-approved softcover, 384 pages, measuring 6 by 9 inches.
