Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCheck the router’s exact model number, then confirm on TP-Link’s official product or support page that its wireless specification says Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax. Also note the hardware version and the region where you bought it: TP-Link says revisions and regional availability can differ.
Find the router’s exact model number
Look at the label on the bottom or back of the router. If you can access the device through a relevant TP-Link app, its device information may show the model number too. In the label or app, distinguish the model number from the serial number and hardware version. TP-Link’s instructions for finding a TP-Link device’s model number describe where to look.

Record the hardware version and purchase region
Note the hardware version shown on the label or in the router’s management interface; it may be marked with a version such as V1 or V2. TP-Link says different hardware versions can have different requirements, so use the version that matches your router when checking its support information or downloads. The model-number guidance and hardware-version guidance explain these device identifiers.
Check TP-Link’s official website for the region where you purchased the router. TP-Link advises using the local site for support and firmware, and its support materials note that availability can vary by region and hardware version. See TP-Link’s guidance on regional support and firmware.
#1 Best Overall
- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
Confirm Wi-Fi 6 in the model-specific specification
- Search TP-Link’s official product or support site for the complete model number.
- Open the page or manual that matches your hardware version and purchase region.
- Check the wireless specification for an explicit “Wi-Fi 6” or “802.11ax” designation. Do not rely only on a partial model name or an assumption based on “AX.”
TP-Link’s product guide groups models under “Wi-Fi 6 (AX),” while its Archer AX3000 product page explicitly describes that router as a Wi-Fi 6 model. Use the exact model’s own specification as the deciding evidence.
TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 examples
TP-Link’s 2024 guide lists the Archer AX55, AX53, AX50, AX23, AX20, AX12, and AX10 among its Wi-Fi 6 (AX) routers. The guide also shows different hardware revisions for some models. This is an example lineup, not a complete or permanent catalog; product availability and regional versions can change. Verify your particular router on TP-Link’s current local support site.

- Next-Gen Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Speeds: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz bands ensure smoother streaming and faster downloads; support VPN server and VPN client¹
- A More Responsive Experience: Enjoy smooth gaming, video streaming, and live feeds simultaneously. OFDMA makes your Wi-Fi stronger by allowing multiple clients to share one band at the same time, cutting latency and jitter.²
- Expanded Wi-Fi Coverage: 4 high-gain external antennas and Beamforming technology combine to extend strong, reliable, Wi-Fi throughout your home.
- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.

If the page does not clearly identify Wi-Fi 6
- Recheck that you entered the full model number, including letters and numbers, rather than a family name or partial model.
- Match the hardware version and region to the device and purchase location.
- Consult the matching manual or contact TP-Link support if the specification remains unclear.
The lookup requires no special tool or paid service: the device label, app or management interface, and official TP-Link pages are enough. If the exact model’s specification does not list Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax, do not treat it as confirmed Wi-Fi 6; replacing it is only a possible next step if you specifically need that wireless generation.
