To find out whether your power supply can run an RX 570, identify your exact graphics-card model, check its manufacturer’s recommended PSU wattage and PCIe power connector, then compare those requirements with the PSU’s label and cables. AMD’s RX 570 specification gives a 450 W minimum PSU recommendation, but individual cards can specify more; for example, ASRock recommends 500 W for its RX 570 Phantom Gaming U 8G OC.
Check the exact RX 570 model first
“RX 570” identifies a GPU family, not one fixed card design. Board partners can set different power specifications, so look for the manufacturer and full model name on the card, its box, purchase record, or system documentation. Include an overclocked or “OC” variant if the model name includes one.

Then use the card maker’s official product page or manual. The examples below show why that step matters:

AMD’s RX 570 specification lists 150 W typical desktop board power and a 450 W minimum PSU recommendation. Treat that as a starting point, not a guarantee for every partner card or PC configuration.

Find the PSU’s actual rating and cables
- Read the PSU label. Find the manufacturer and exact model on the unit’s sticker. If the label is hard to see, check the PC’s purchase record or documentation; a case badge or remembered wattage is not enough to identify the unit.
- Check the PSU maker’s documentation. Confirm its rated output and which PCIe graphics-card power cables it provides. Do not confuse a cable’s connector with the PSU’s wattage rating.
- Compare the connector requirement. If your card’s specification says it needs one 8-pin PCIe connector, the PSU must provide the appropriate native PCIe cable. Do not assume every RX 570 uses the same connector, or that a connector seen in an example applies to your card.
- Compare the wattage recommendation. Confirm that the PSU’s rated output meets the recommendation for your exact card. Also account for the rest of the system: a card maker’s recommendation is not a measured load calculation for your specific PC.
What to do if a check fails
- The PSU is below the card maker’s recommendation: do not treat the system as confirmed compatible based on the GPU name alone. Assess the whole PC and consider a PSU that meets the card’s specification.
- The PSU lacks the specified PCIe cable: do not count an unrelated connector as a match. Verify the PSU documentation and the exact card requirement before proceeding.
- You cannot identify the card or PSU: get the model information before deciding. If output or cabling still cannot be confirmed, ask a qualified PC technician to assess the system.
If replacing the PSU, compare its rated output and PCIe cabling with both the graphics-card maker’s recommendation and the needs of the rest of the PC; a headline wattage alone does not establish compatibility.
