Use Microsoft’s PC Health Check app to test whether your PC meets Windows 11’s baseline requirements, then check Settings > Windows Update separately to see whether version 26H2 is being offered. Eligibility does not guarantee an immediate update: Microsoft said the 26H2 rollout was phased for eligible Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 devices as of September 29, 2026.
Check Windows 11 eligibility with PC Health Check

Open Start or the taskbar search and type PC Health Check. Open the app if it is installed. If it is not, download it from Microsoft’s PC Health Check download page.

Read the result. If the PC is not eligible, the app identifies the requirement or requirements it does not meet. Use that specific reason to decide what to investigate; do not assume that a particular component needs replacing.

Check whether Windows Update offers 26H2
After checking eligibility, open Settings > Windows Update and look for an available Windows 11, version 26H2 update. This is a different check from PC Health Check: the app assesses baseline Windows 11 eligibility, while Windows Update indicates whether an upgrade is currently available to your device.
Microsoft reported that 26H2 reached general availability on September 29, 2026, with a phased rollout to eligible Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2 devices. An eligible PC may therefore have no 26H2 offer yet. A compatibility safeguard can also temporarily hold an upgrade if Microsoft identifies a problem that could affect the experience, such as an app or driver issue. PC Health Check reports whether the PC meets Windows 11’s minimum requirements, but that does not establish a separate, 26H2-specific hardware checklist. The available Microsoft specifications describe Windows 11 requirements generally; whether 26H2 has additional hardware requirements is not established by those pages.

Microsoft’s Windows 11 System Requirements lists these baseline requirements:

A compatible 64-bit processor or system on a chip (SoC), running at 1 GHz or faster with at least two cores and appearing on Microsoft’s approved processor list.

PC Health Check does not assess graphics-card or display requirements, according to Microsoft’s Windows 11 specifications. If the app says the PC is eligible but you need to verify those items, compare the PC’s graphics and display details with Microsoft’s requirements.

If PC Health Check and Windows Update disagree

Eligible, but no 26H2 offer: Eligibility is not a promise of immediate availability. The phased rollout or a compatibility safeguard may explain the difference; check Windows Update again later and consult Microsoft’s 26H2 release-health page for known issues.

Hardware changed recently: Run PC Health Check again and allow Windows Update to refresh its assessment. Microsoft advises waiting until Windows Update notifies you that Windows 11 is ready before upgrading after a requirement-related hardware change. The app reports a blocker: Follow the named failure rather than buying a generic TPM module, RAM kit or drive. The suitable change depends on the PC and motherboard. Microsoft notes that a processor’s clock speed and core count are inherent to the processor and cannot be upgraded as separate components.

Windows 10 users should check support status too
Microsoft’s PC Health Check guidance gives October 14, 2025 as the end date for Windows 10 support; that date has passed. Checking whether a PC can upgrade does not itself provide ongoing Windows 10 security updates. See Microsoft’s PC Health Check guidance for its support information.
