There is no definitive PC compatibility check for Squadron 42 yet: RSI says the game is still in development and is not available to install. Its published system requirements are for Star Citizen, so you can use them only as a rough reference—not as a Squadron 42 pass/fail test or performance guarantee.

Why you cannot get a definitive answer yet

RSI’s April 16, 2026 checklist says the single-player campaign, Squadron 42, is still in development and not yet available. RSI’s February 4, 2026 download article likewise says the game is not available for download; downloading will follow completion, testing, and release. Until then, you cannot install it or run an official compatibility test.

RSI has not published a dedicated current minimum or recommended PC specification for Squadron 42. Its current hardware table covers Star Citizen. Do not treat those specifications—or older estimates—as confirmed requirements for the campaign.

Use the Star Citizen requirements only as a reference

The figures below come from RSI’s Star Citizen Minimum System Requirements page, updated September 23, 2026. RSI warns that these requirements may change during development. They are useful for comparing your PC with RSI’s currently published expectations for Star Citizen, not for determining whether Squadron 42 will run.

RSI lists Nvidia 1060, AMD RX 5700, RX Vega 56, RX 460, Intel A380, and UHD Graphics 730 as examples of minimum-spec graphics cards for Star Citizen. These are examples, not a complete compatibility list and not Squadron 42 recommendations.

How to compare your PC with that reference

  1. Record your hardware and operating system. Note the exact CPU and GPU model names, GPU VRAM, installed system memory, Windows version, and available SSD capacity. Use Windows Settings and Task Manager, or your PC maker’s system-information utility, to identify the components.
  2. Check the complete CPU requirement. For the Star Citizen minimum, RSI specifies AVX, AVX2, and FMA3 support in addition to the processor family and generation. A model name alone may not establish whether those features are supported.
  3. Compare every row of the table. Check the operating system, CPU, graphics API and VRAM, memory, and SSD capacity. Do not reduce the comparison to a single component or a “will run” score.
  4. Interpret the result narrowly. Matching or exceeding the published Star Citizen minimum tells you only how your listed hardware compares with that game’s current minimum. It does not establish Squadron 42 compatibility, frame rate, or stability.
  5. Recheck RSI’s official requirements before buying hardware. RSI says its requirements can change during development. A component upgrade based only on this comparison would be a decision about the Star Citizen reference, not a confirmed Squadron 42 requirement.

What this comparison can—and cannot—tell you

A component match is not a performance promise

RSI notes that Star Citizen performance, frame rates, and stability can vary with location in the game, server population, background applications, and network conditions. Those caveats concern Star Citizen; they are not measured performance results for Squadron 42. No current official data establishes how a particular PC will perform in the campaign.

Telemetry is not a Squadron 42 compatibility scanner

RSI’s Public Telemetry, linked from its Development Hub, provides performance information from community machines for Star Citizen. RSI does not describe it as a compatibility scanner or as a predictor of Squadron 42 performance.

When to check again

Check RSI’s official system-requirements information again when Squadron 42 is released, and before buying hardware specifically for it. The answer will become definitive only when RSI publishes requirements for the campaign itself; until then, any claim that a PC is confirmed to run it goes beyond the available specifications.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
