Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCheck Settings to see whether an update is being offered to your OPPO phone now. To find out whether it is covered by a future Android or ColorOS upgrade—or by ongoing security patches—you also need to check the exact model, region, and, where relevant, carrier variant against OPPO’s applicable support information. A missing update notification alone does not establish that a phone is permanently ineligible.
Check whether an update is available now
First note the phone’s exact model and current ColorOS version. OPPO’s menu path for checking updates depends on the ColorOS generation, and names can vary slightly by device.

- Open Settings and find About Phone or About Device. Note the ColorOS version and model name or number.
- Return to Settings and open the update screen using the path that matches your ColorOS version:
- ColorOS 13 and later: Settings > About device > ColorOS.
- ColorOS 12: Settings > About device.
- ColorOS 11 and earlier: Settings > Software Updates or System Update.
- Check for an update. If one is offered, follow the instructions shown on the phone.
These paths come from OPPO Support’s update instructions. Menu labels may differ by device or software version.
What “no update available” means
The Settings check answers whether an update is being offered to that phone at the time of the check. It is not a definitive ruling on the phone’s lifetime support. OPPO says update development and testing take time and that availability can vary by model and geographic region. Rollouts may also arrive in batches, with country and carrier qualifications.

If no update appears, record the model, ColorOS version, country or region, and whether the phone is a carrier model. Check OPPO’s regional support information for that exact device, then check again later. OPPO describes notification-based updates for supported phones, but a notification that has not arrived does not by itself show that a rollout is finished or that the device has no further support.
OPPO provides rollout guidance that explains batch releases and market qualifications: OPPO Community update guidance. For applicable software versions, OPPO also documents a computer-assisted ColorOS Assistant route; confirm that the official instructions for your region apply to your device before using it: OPPO ColorOS Assistant instructions.

Check future Android upgrades and security support separately
A major Android or ColorOS upgrade and security-patch coverage are different commitments. A phone may have information available for one without that information establishing the other. Use a source that identifies the model and applies to its market; do not assume that a promise for one OPPO series, region, or carrier variant covers another.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Major-version upgrades: Look for a model- or series-specific OPPO statement about Android or ColorOS upgrades. Check when the policy was announced and which devices it covers.
- Security patches: Check OPPO’s security-support information for the model and its stated support period or end date. A security-update period does not promise a particular number of major Android upgrades.
- Actual delivery: A published policy is not the same as an update already available on the phone. Local rollout timing and carrier qualifications can affect delivery.
OPPO UK’s Product Security Update Period page states a minimum of three years of security updates following product launch for smartphones and tablets, and lists product end dates. The page also qualifies actual delivery: details are subject to the updates received, and timing can vary by country or region and model. Check the live listing for the exact product rather than applying the minimum period as a guarantee for a particular device.

How to interpret OPPO’s published upgrade policies
OPPO’s announcements are scoped to specific product groups and dates; they should not be treated as a blanket promise for every OPPO phone.
| OPPO statement | What it says | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 announcement covering selected flagship models in 2023 | Four major Android upgrades and five years of security patches for selected flagship models starting in 2023. | Apply only to models covered by that announcement; it does not establish support for all OPPO devices. OPPO’s 2022 announcement. |
| Earlier ColorOS 12 announcement for devices releasing from 2019 onward | Described different major-upgrade counts by series, along with separate security-patch periods; it included stated exceptions and excluded carrier models. | Read as a dated policy statement, not a current promise for every model. Confirm the exact model and any carrier restriction in the applicable information. OPPO’s ColorOS 12 policy announcement. |
These statements do not provide a portfolio-wide percentage of OPPO phones eligible for updates. Eligibility for an individual phone depends on its precise model, market, carrier status, and software state.

What to have ready when checking support
- The exact model name or number from About Phone/About Device.
- The current ColorOS version.
- The country or region where the phone is used.
- Whether it is a carrier-specific model.
With those details, compare the device against the relevant regional OPPO support or security listing, and distinguish a current rollout from a longer-term upgrade or security commitment. Without them, a reliable yes-or-no answer for an unnamed OPPO phone is not possible.
