Use Michigan’s official Michigan.gov/Vote voter information service to check whether your clerk received your absentee ballot. The tracker reports mailing and receipt status; “received” is not, by itself, confirmation that the ballot passed signature review or was counted.

Look for the Absentee ballot section. It shows when the ballot was sent and whether the clerk received the completed ballot.

If you want email alerts when the clerk sends and receives your ballot, use the state ballot notification service. You’ll provide the requested identifying details, an email address, and consent.
What “received” means—and what it doesn’t
A “received” status means the tracker reports that the clerk received the ballot. It does not establish that the ballot was finally accepted or counted. Michigan says local clerks compare the signature on each absentee ballot return envelope with the voter’s signature on record. Completed, signed ballots received by clerks are securely stored until processing and tabulation. Michigan’s absentee-voting guidance describes the process.
If your status is missing or unclear
For questions about whether an application or ballot was mailed or received, contact your local clerk using the clerk locator linked from Michigan’s voter information site. The state guidance does not specify a universal time for local records to appear in the tracker, so an unchanged status alone does not establish that a ballot is lost.

Ballots returned in person
If you return a mail ballot at an early voting site or an Election Day location, the online tracker will not show it as received and will not send a receipt notification. That tracking exception does not, by itself, mean the ballot was lost.

For most Michigan voters, the local clerk must receive the absentee ballot by 8 p.m. on Election Day for it to be counted. A specific exception applies to military and overseas voters: a valid ballot with a matching signature must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received within six days after Election Day.
