Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo find out whether a particular app or developer tool supports Windows 11, check the software publisher’s current compatibility guidance and test the exact version, dependencies, and workflows you rely on in a representative Windows 11 environment. Microsoft’s PC Health Check answers a separate question: whether your PC meets Windows 11 hardware requirements. A pass does not certify your installed apps.
App compatibility and PC eligibility are different checks
PC Health Check assesses whether a Windows 10 device meets Windows 11 minimum system requirements and explains why it may or may not be eligible. It does not test every installed app, IDE, SDK, driver, plug-in, emulator, or command-line utility. Microsoft also says Windows Update may delay an upgrade when it identifies a compatibility issue that could disrupt the experience, including one involving a critical app or driver. Microsoft’s PC Health Check guidance covers device readiness, not an app-by-app certification.

For software, Microsoft recommends checking for an update: use Microsoft Store for Store apps, and the publisher’s website for other software. Look for a Windows 11 support statement, compatible versions, known issues, and release notes. Microsoft’s guidance for older apps and programs also suggests the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter if an older app has no update.
How to check an app or developer tool
- Make a list of what the workflow depends on. Record app and tool names and versions, plus plug-ins, extensions, drivers, runtimes, command-line components, services, and connected devices. For a single user, this prevents a missed dependency from being mistaken for an app-level problem. Organizations should create an app inventory as part of deployment planning.
- Check the publisher’s current information. Search the vendor’s support site for Windows 11 compatibility, known issues, and release notes for your version. For Microsoft Store apps, open Microsoft Store and check for updates. If the publisher does not state support for your version, treat that as unresolved rather than assuming a general Windows compatibility claim applies.
- Check the PC separately. Use PC Health Check if you need to know whether the device meets Windows 11 requirements. Do not interpret a passing result as evidence that your software stack will work.
- Test on a representative Windows 11 setup. Use a device or test environment with the same Windows release, architecture, drivers, and dependencies you expect to use. For a deployment, Microsoft recommends defining readiness criteria, evaluating infrastructure and tools, and testing applications. Eligible partners can use Test Base for Microsoft 365 to onboard apps to a managed environment and validate them.
- Exercise the workflows that matter. For a developer tool, this might include opening a real project, building, running tests, debugging, loading plug-ins, accessing devices or drivers, authenticating, and using integrations. Record the Windows version, app version, architecture, dependencies, and outcome so another person can reproduce a failure. These checks are practical validation steps, not a universal Microsoft test checklist.
- Troubleshoot or escalate a confirmed issue. For an older app without an update, try the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter and update relevant device drivers through Windows Update. If the issue affects a business-critical app, check Microsoft App Assure’s current supported platforms, eligibility, and terms.
What to test for developer tools
A tool working at launch does not establish that the full development workflow works. Check the components your team actually uses, including extensions and plug-ins, runtimes, local services, emulators, device drivers, authentication, and connections to other systems. A failure may come from one of these dependencies rather than the main application.
#1 Best Overall
- 1.1 GHz (boost up to 2.4GHz) Intel Celeron N5030 Quad-Core
- Build and test: open a representative project, build it, and run the tests you depend on.
- Debug and deploy: start a debugging session and, where relevant, deploy to a device or emulator.
- Integrations: verify source control, package feeds, cloud services, sign-in, and other essential connections.
- Hardware access: check any specialized device, driver, virtualization, or emulator workflow the tool requires.
Compatibility is specific to the version, dependencies, architecture, and workflow. Microsoft’s Windows 11 compatibility guidance recommends that partners validate apps. Its Compatibility Cookbook page was last updated 2022-08-23, so consult current linked documentation for deployment decisions.
How organizations should prepare for an upgrade
For an organization, start with an inventory and prioritize business-critical software. Decide what counts as ready, identify representative configurations, and test the workflows employees depend on before a broad rollout. Microsoft’s Windows 365 and App Assure documentation assigns customers responsibility for creating an app inventory and validating apps on Windows and Microsoft 365 Apps. The same page says app inventory and testing to determine what works are out of scope for App Assure.

Microsoft’s Windows 11 planning page, last updated 2025-03-27, reports that App Assure data shows Windows 10 compatibility rates of over 99.7% for enterprise organizations, including line-of-business apps. This is a broad figure attributed to Microsoft’s program data; it is not a guarantee for a particular app, tool, or organization.
For developers targeting Arm devices, Microsoft says App Assure’s Arm Advisory Service can provide guidance for porting and building Arm-native apps. The documentation notes that availability may be limited, including a possible 15-hour limit per developer or waitlisting. Verify current terms before relying on the service.

When App Assure may help
App Assure is a support and remediation option for valid compatibility issues on supported Microsoft platforms; it is not a service for building your inventory or testing your apps. Check Microsoft’s current program documentation for scope and eligibility before pursuing support. If you are an individual user rather than an organization, the publisher’s support channel and direct testing are the practical first steps.
