To find out whether Stuart Skinner is starting for Winnipeg tonight, check the current game-day coverage for that specific opponent and date, and look for an explicit statement that he is the starter. A report of pregame line rushes or a practice grouping is not confirmation. For the Jets’ confirmed lineup, use a current game-specific source that identifies both the goalie and skaters; after puck drop, the official game record can show who actually played.
Check the right game first
Start with the opponent and date, including the season if you are looking at an older result. Winnipeg’s official news index lists dated team coverage, and the Jets’ official site is the place to look for the game-specific update. Make sure the article is for tonight’s matchup: an old lineup card or a story for another game cannot establish tonight’s status.

- Open the Jets’ official news feed or team site.
- Find the dated game-day article for the correct opponent.
- Check its latest update and wording for an explicit statement that Skinner is starting.
- For a full confirmed lineup, verify that the same game-specific item identifies the skaters as well as the goalie.
Know the difference between a skate report and confirmation
Pregame line rushes describe who took part in a skate and may suggest possible combinations; they do not by themselves confirm the starting goalie or final lineup. In a September 21, 2026 game-day article, the Jets listed Skinner and Thomas Milic beneath the skater combinations after publishing pregame line rushes. That is evidence of the skate, not an explicit confirmation that Skinner would start. See the Jets’ dated game-day coverage.

| Evidence | What it supports | What it does not support |
|---|---|---|
| Pregame line rushes, morning skate or projected combinations | A timely report of who skated and possible combinations | A definitive claim that Skinner starts or that the full lineup is final |
| Current game-specific report explicitly naming Skinner as starter | A definitive pregame statement about that matchup | A claim about a different game or a later lineup change |
| Official game record after play begins | Who actually appeared in the completed or underway game | A pregame confirmation before the record reflects play |
When the starter has not been confirmed
If the freshest game-specific item only reports line rushes, a morning skate or projected combinations, describe Skinner’s status as unconfirmed. Do not infer a start from his place on the roster, a practice grouping or a previous game’s lineup. The official sources reviewed do not establish a standard announcement deadline or a universally definitive phrase beyond requiring game-specific confirmation.

Winnipeg’s September 29, 2026 opening-day announcement said the 2026–27 team began the regular season with 13 forwards, eight defencemen and two goalies, and listed Skinner among the free-agent additions. That establishes his club context on that date; it says nothing about who starts in an individual game. Read the Jets’ opening-day announcement.
Use alerts as pointers, not proof
The Jets’ site links to the team app and Jets Texts as ways to follow club updates. The available official information does not establish that either service guarantees a starting-goalie notification. If an alert points you to news, check the dated game page itself and confirm that it covers the right matchup. Visit the Jets’ official site.

After puck drop, report who played
Once the game is underway, check the official game record for the goalie who actually appeared. Report that as a retrospective game fact rather than describing it as a pregame confirmation. A starting claim before play begins needs an explicit current report for that specific game.
