There is no single reliable used price to quote. The evidence available as of October 7, 2026 supports a method, not a number: compare against the same-day new price and recent completed sales, adjust for what is included, then test the console and the seller. This guide covers that process in order.
Why there is no “standard” used PS5 Pro price
No official market series or controlled study of used PS5 Pro prices turned up in the sources reviewed. What exists is scattered and dated, so treat it as context, not a benchmark:

- Retailer asking prices: Tom’s Hardware reported on October 6, 2026 that GameStop had raised its refurbished PS5 Pro price to $1,399.99. That is one retailer’s ask on one day. It does not show that a used unit is generally worth that much, so don’t use it to justify a private seller’s price.
- Completed sales: PriceCharting’s “PlayStation 5 Pro Console Prices” page (accessed October 7, 2026) lists individual completed sales dated September 28 to October 1, 2026, with different package contents. These are useful observations, but they are not a representative index.
Because the market is volatile, redo your comparison on the day you buy.

#1 Best Overall
- Asking price, plus your location, taxes, and delivery or fees
- Cosmetic and functional condition
- Included controller(s), cables, and original box
- Whether a disc drive is included
- Original receipt and any claimed warranty
A console-only sale should not be compared directly with a bundle that has a drive and extra controller.
The disc drive question
Sony’s compatibility guide for PS5 Pro (US) lists a disc drive with cover as compatible with the console. If you play physical games, a listing without one costs more than its sticker price. Check the current local price of a compatible drive and add it to the total. If you only buy digital games, a missing drive costs you nothing, so don’t pay extra for one you won’t use.
Step 2: Set your comparison range
- Check the current new-console price and availability in your market. This is your ceiling: a used unit with no warranty and some risk should sit meaningfully below a new one with full coverage.
- Look at several recent completed sales for comparable packages. Keep these separate from active listings, since asking prices show what sellers hope for, not what buyers paid.
- Adjust for package differences, such as an extra controller or a drive.
- Subtract a margin for risk if the seller offers no receipt or warranty evidence.
Don’t build your range from a handful of sales or a single retailer. Treat the outcome as a window, not a precise figure.

Step 3: Test the console
Sony’s PlayStation buying guide (US) says to check ports, buttons, the disc drive where applicable, powering on, and internet connection. It also recommends personally checking image quality, overheating, damage, warranty seals, and serial numbers.
Before meeting: ask for a video
Ask for a clear video of the console powering on, ports and buttons being used, the disc drive operating if one is included, and the console connecting to the internet. A seller who refuses is giving you information.
In person
- Power on and confirm a clean picture on a display you can inspect.
- Let it run for a while and watch for signs of overheating.
- Look for visible damage and check that any seals look intact.
- Test each port and button, and the drive if included.
- Connect to the internet and confirm it reaches PlayStation services.
- Compare the serial number on the console with the box and receipt.
Sony advises walking away if something feels wrong.

- From Jan. 2028, newly released games on PlayStation will be available for purchase on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital format only. Discs for games released before Jan. 2028 can continue to be played on this device.
- This product is only for PS5 Digital Edition consoles (CFI-2000 model group – slim) or PS5 Pro Consoles
- Drive will play 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, Blu-ray discs and DVDs
- Internet connection is required to pair Disc Drive and PS5 Digital Edition Console upon setup.
Step 4: Verify ownership and service access
Sony warns that a product reported lost or stolen may be permanently suspended from PlayStation services. A console that looks perfect can become useless, so this check matters as much as the hardware test.
- Check the seller’s reputation and feedback.
- Ask the seller to deactivate the console. Sony says the seller should no longer have access to it afterward.
- Confirm the console connects to PlayStation services before you pay.
- Treat a missing, altered, defaced, or removed serial number as a serious red flag. Sony’s US warranty terms also exclude coverage in that case.
Step 5: Treat warranty as unproven until documented
Sony’s US buying guide says third-party used PlayStation products are not covered by warranty, while certified refurbished products include it. Sony’s US/Canada PS5 hardware warranty describes a one-year period from original purchase for the original purchaser, and it requires a dated bill of sale or retailer receipt for service.
So a seller saying “it’s still under warranty” is a claim to verify, not a feature to pay for. Ask for the original dated receipt, and check the terms for your country, since the US/Canada terms don’t apply everywhere. Don’t assume coverage transfers to you. Price the console as if it has no warranty unless the paperwork says otherwise.

Step 6: Decide
This rule is an editorial synthesis of Sony’s inspection guidance and the market observations above, not a pricing formula Sony publishes.
| Signal | Buy / pay closer to your upper range | Lower your offer or walk away |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Total package compares favorably with current new price and recent completed sales | Ask is anchored to a retailer’s refurbished price or unsupported claims |
| Testing | Seller allows a video and an in-person test, and everything passes | Testing refused, or overheating, damage, or image problems appear |
| Contents | Items match the listing, including the drive if advertised | Details don’t match the listing |
| Serial number | Intact and consistent with the box and receipt | Missing, altered, or defaced |
| Service access | Seller deactivates the console and it connects to PlayStation services | It can’t connect, or the seller won’t deactivate it |
| Paperwork | Dated original receipt supports any warranty claim | Warranty claimed with no proof |
| Behavior | Seller is patient and reputable | Seller pressures you to pay without inspection |
Comparing two listings
When you have more than one candidate, line them up on the same five points: total price (including delivery and taxes) against new retail and recent completed sales; condition and test results; included items, especially the drive and controller; service access and seller deactivation; and receipt and supportable warranty. The cheaper listing is not automatically better if it fails on testing, paperwork, or service access.
