PC Game Pass is the better choice if you want a dedicated PC game subscription. Microsoft lists 300+ PC games, day-one releases and an EA Play membership, at $13.99 per month in the US. Amazon’s offer is a perk inside Prime, and it is no longer called Prime Gaming. Amazon retired that brand and moved its gaming benefits under Luna. Prime members still claim a changing set of downloadable PC games each month, and they also get Luna Standard cloud play. The two services work differently, so the comparison depends on what you want from them.
The short comparison
| Decision axis | Amazon Prime / Luna | PC Game Pass |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | Monthly downloadable PC games to claim, plus Luna Standard cloud streaming included with Prime | A rotating PC library. Microsoft lists 300+ PC games, day-one titles and EA Play |
| Access model | Claimed PC games are added to your collection. Luna streaming games are available only while they remain in the Luna catalog | Catalog access needs an active subscription, and a game can leave the catalog |
| How you play | Downloads for claimed PC games; cloud streaming for Luna titles | Windows PC with the Xbox app, downloading games locally |
| New releases | Amazon’s pages do not promise day-one PC releases | Day-one games are an explicit benefit |
| Price | Depends on your country and on whether you already pay for Prime. No localized price is established here | US listing: $13.99 per month. Other regions vary |
| Best fit | Existing Prime members who want occasional games or a cloud-gaming trial | Players who want a big catalog, EA Play and new releases |
What Amazon offers now
The rebrand to Luna
Amazon says it retired the Prime Gaming brand to unify its gaming benefits under Luna, while Prime members continue to receive monthly downloadable PC games (About Amazon: What is Amazon Luna?). Older articles and search results still say “Prime Gaming”, but the benefit now sits under Luna.

Monthly PC games you claim
Amazon Game Studios’ October 2026 update says: “Finally in October, Free Games with Prime is giving players 10 newly-added PC games to claim and add to your collection.” (Luna October Content Update). Ten is that month’s lineup, not a promised monthly number. Claimed games go into your collection. Check each title’s platform and redemption terms before you assume how it launches.

Amazon’s overview, updated September 21, 2026, says Luna Standard is included with Prime and describes a 60+ game cloud catalog. Games stream from AWS servers to supported screens. This is separate from the claimed PC games. Streaming titles rotate, so check the live catalog and whether Luna is available in your country. Amazon also sells a Luna Controller designed for cloud play (About Amazon). It is optional, and PC Game Pass doesn’t need it.

What PC Game Pass offers
Microsoft’s US store listing shows $13.99 per month and describes a PC game library, day-one titles and an EA Play membership (Xbox: PC Game Pass 1 Month). Microsoft’s plan page says the service includes 300+ games on PC (Xbox: PC Game Pass). Price and catalog vary by region and can change.
Access ends with the subscription or the catalog entry
Catalog games are available until you cancel, your subscription expires, or the game leaves the catalog. Microsoft also says availability and features vary by time, region, plan and platform. Game Pass is rented access, not ownership.

Which should you choose?
You already pay for Prime
Check this month’s PC claims and the Luna library first. If you want something there and you use Prime’s other benefits, the gaming part is a free extra. It is not a substitute for Game Pass’s catalog.

You want a library and new releases
Choose PC Game Pass. The 300+ PC games, EA Play and day-one releases give it the clearer gaming-first offer. Compare its local price with what Prime costs in your market.
You want to keep claiming games
Amazon’s claim model fits better. It adds games to a collection instead of renting a catalog, though terms differ by title.

- Confirm your country’s price for Prime and for PC Game Pass. The $13.99 figure is the US listing as of October 7, 2026.
- Look at the live catalogs for the specific games you want. Monthly claims, Luna’s rotation and Game Pass’s catalog all change.
- Check your PC against the game’s requirements and your Windows version.
The Bottom Line
Pick PC Game Pass for a PC-focused library with new releases. Treat Amazon’s Luna-era Prime benefit as a useful extra if you already have Prime.
